The creature turns fully visible and smiles up at Dekket, still holding him. "Now we're talking. Helmagog is my name. My master" - again, Helmagog spits - "has to meet his contact at ten bells with whatever we find here. Sound like a fair plan for all of us?"
While Dekket keeps a grip on Helmagog, who is more amused than struggling at this point, Orynn eventually discovers a loose brick behind one of the barrels. It comes away easily -- clearly, it was intended as a quick hiding place only, and in it you find a note, apparently the only hard evidence any faction will find:
Sorry, Dalakhar. I had second thoughts. It’s too risky to leave any instructions here that could lead our master’s enemies to the Vault of Dragons. If you find this message, I’m sorry. You’ll have to report back to Neverember for further orders. Yours, Dalakhar.
Orynn reads, then holds out the message so both Dekket and Helmagog can read it. "Looks like we're all left empty handed." Orynn looks at the empty place where the invisible devil was. "What can you tell us about your master?"
With a flourish of rodent cannons, Valas Trapp concludes his performance. Ignoring the tepid applause, he steps off the stage and makes his way towards the stairs to the second floor.
Orynn/Dekket:
"He brought me from Hell for this - FOR THIS," Helmagog cackles. "His master will likely punish him equally if he shows up at ten bells with this, or with nothing. He will not release me for such as this -- take it to your people." Helmagog turns visible. "I will say this. Do not face him alone, or at all if you can help it. Fool he may be, but a powerful one. Much more so than the likes of you."
Arvel descends from the balcony, meeting Valas at the bottom of the stairs. The charlatan greets the performer by shaking his hand and congratulating him on the performance.
"Monsieur Trapp! What a marvel your orchestra is! Tell me, zee rodents. Are zey special? Do zey require much training? 'Ow do you select zee members of zee orchestra? And zee canons! So ingenious! How do zey work..."
Arvel is over-extending the handshake and beginning a stream of harmless, inane questions to delay the band-leader as long as possible.
A plastic smile affixes itself to Trapp's face. "Special? We are all special, with study, and my friends are no different." He makes a peculiar clicking sound, and a mouse vaults off a tiny trampoline on Valas Trapp's arm onto Arvel's outstretched arms, and into Arvel's pocket. It emerges a moment later to jump back into Trapp's outstretched hand, where it drops a single gold piece.
"Those who study can take advantage of those who prattle. See what I mean, friend?" With that, Trapp flips the coin back to Arvel and makes a move to get around the warlock and to the staircase.
OOC: I would certainly understand a complaint asking for an opposed check here; however, this capability is as written, and, knowing this now in this context may prove useful to you later.
(OOC: Sorry I wasn't meaning that Dekket is still keeping his grip on the imp, he is more like ofering his arm for him to talk to them eye to eye)
"Well I wouldn't say empty handed. We have a name and a confirmation that the Vault does exist... or at least someone quite powerful believes it's a real thing. " he turns to the imp " Do you mind if we write another note and we keep this one? So if you brought this to your master he will release you? " Dekket seems honest in his intention of help the littl ehumanoid to gain his freedom again.
Helmagog laughs so hard he pops fully visible and almost seems to ignite. "I like the way you think, mortal! My binding says only I must return what I find. Keep the gnome's note, and write what you like! In fact, write something wrong! Just put it behind the brick for me to find." He zips around the room, devilishly gleeful at the prospect of fulfilling the letter of the contract, but not its spirit, and then uses his tail to cover his eyes.

It takes a moment for Cassie to process that message.
She opens her mouth to say something, then stops. Then she shakes her head with a chuckle before leaning back in her seat and putting her hands behind her head.

Trapp appears distracted as he pushes past those on the upstairs landing. He quickly unlocks his door, and enters. Through Kita's senses, Jun sees:
"Helmagog! Helmagog!" Trapp hisses in a whisper. "We have no time for you to play games." After a few moments of no response, he swears under his breath. He pulls out a pinch of fur, and waves it past his face with an invocation you do not understand. "Not yet," he mutters to himself. "You are going to regret your sloth when I get down there. Come," he says, and several mice clamber into his sleeves. Another invocation, and the figure of Valas Trapp is replaced by that of a simple server, and he leaves the room, closing the door behind him.
Jun visibly tenses and sends another message to Cassie.
("Get ready to move. Trapp just disguised himself as a server, likely heading to the cellar where Orynn and Dekket are.")
Jun then repeats the message targeting Rue.

"Well, maybe we can direct his master to a more appropiate direction that we could set the talk in our terms if you know what I am talking... " What about...
" I've found a posiible entrance to the Vault. Find me in the northeast entrance to the sewers, in the hallway between the hat shop and the house with the slate roof."
He is using a retired hallway that is seldom visited by the guard of the city so they could corner and talk the agent. ( Hope the criminal background helps knowing such a spot)
He puts it in the hole behind the brick and winks to the imp.
"Let's go with the others" he says to Orynn " we don't have time to lose now... our contractors will be happy " he adds smiling to the imp again as he heads upstairs.
A portly server pushes his way past those of you upstairs, and makes his way to the cellar.
Not spoilerizing, but:
Jun/Cassie/anybody in Message contact - would you be following?
Orynn/Dekket - where would you go upon heading upstairs? A few are upstairs, but many are still gathered at a table int he main room, along with Threestrings/Sarva/Blossom.
Orynn grins broadly at Dekket's suggestion. After Helmagog's gleeful ageement, Orynn leans forward toward the tiefling as he's scribbling the fake note (and Orynn's pocketing the real one). "Brilliant," he says in a hushed tone. He reads the note over Dekket's shoulder, frowning a bit. "I'm not familiar with that location," he says. "I'm still too new to Waterdeep, I guess." After Dekket hides the new note behind the brick, Orynn follows him up the stairs, planning to return to the balcony and those sitting there.
If Jun sees Orynn and Dekket exit the cellar before Trapp gets downstairs, then he will not follow Trapp.
If he does not see them exit, Jun follows nonchalantly behind Trapp at a discreet distance so as to be in range to back the two of them up if needed.

Arvel waves the coin in his hand, rolling it over his knuckles.
