Leilani gives a surprisingly girlish laugh and wags her finger. "You're a smooth one, aren't you? No, I moved to stop delivery for what Cassie and I had, but rat out a client? That's bad for business. And living, too, mind you."
"He knows the names he wants on it, not your names. You hold the only copy. Burn it, for all I care. I'm not going to turn Cass in, so I'll have to remake the list, without your names." Leilani frowns. "I suppose I'll have to give him a discount on account of it being late."
"Late?" Orynn asks with a grin. "He lost the list. Not your fault. Seems to me like you should get paid double for this job when you have to make him another." The rogue focuses on the list again, his smile disappearing. "I repeat: We need to burn that list. Now."
Cassie gives Leilani a long, hard look upon hearing exactly what that list is meant to be, and for a moment her hands shake and smoke. But when Leilani explains that she was coming back to reclaim the list, she does relax a bit. She still doesn't exactly LIKE discovering that her old friend can be so callous about framing potentially innocent people, but she can't blame her for having to do something to get by either.
At Arvel's suggestion, she takes the parchment in hand and it almost immediately begins to smoke. Within moments, it is consumed in flame as she drops it to the ground.
"So zere we 'ave it. We can now go our separate ways. You to your employers wiz a modified list, and us to our endeavors."
**I hope Mrs. Spunkelcrief hasn't rented my old room and will let us hide out there for a bit. The old biddy was always a soft touch for a little flattery.**
At Arvel's words, Orynn seems to catch himself. "Almost forgot to mention," the half-elf says, absently scratching his short beard "after you all left, I heard a scuffle in that alleyway. I think our little trick may have rewarded Trapp with a pounding. Afterward, he headed back toward the Portal, and he didn't look any too happy."
"Exactement. Zat is why we are not going back zere at zee moment. It's also why I am not saying where we are going while Mademoiselle Leilani is 'ere."
Leilani grins at the thought of Trapp and her client in a scuffle. "Serves the old man right. But both of them have ways of finding people. Trapp through his arts, my client, through more...direct means. Either catch one at the Portal or stay out here, one of them will find you soon enough. Hours, more likely minutes. Make sure it is on your terms."
"My client may not be able to locate you immediately, but he knows Trapp can if properly motivated. From what you said, Trapp was given...motivation." She looks both ways, and turns to go. "If I were you, I would expect one to find you, and the other close behind, and soon, unless you find one of them first. Me, I've done my one good deed for the tenday."

"So what is it going to take to keep our names off your clee-ent's list?"

“Cassie?”

Her eyes go back up to meet Leilani's gaze, an odd mixture of both hurt and gratitude.
"Thanks...I guess," she says slowly, "for coming out to take it back."
Orynn watches the parchment burn and then visibly relaxes as the ashes fall to the ground.
