Ooc: a receipt only. The owner of the pants had recently purchased a ruby of that worth. The ruby itself is not there. People in room can make an arcana check (separate from the earlier check, so anybody there can make two.)
(OOC: my arcana is not great, will it go against us if more than one makes the check or should I let Valafar, assuming he is here, make the check? His arcana is awesome!)
Anybody in room in this case means you could each make a.check, though if you would prefer to help him instead to give him advantage - playing it as trying to jog his memory - that would be fine as well.
Glory looks to Valafar, "You've seen this kind of thing before haven't you? Any good wizard should know his 'chalk and candle' circle, right? Is this helping you at all or should I shut up and let you think?"
Glory finds that he is able to detect magic as he concentrates on the circle at the center of the room. "Hey this is important, I am starting to understand this black magic. Give me a minute ..."Glory sits down and concentrates for a powerful minute, knowing that danger could come from around the corner at any moment.
As the ritual completes, Glory senses two things in the room. The first, a scroll on the dresser, is easily recognized as instructions for creating the very circle that was just used. However, hastily scrawled in the margin, Glory finds:
Bravado? The Bard's Story?
Also, a floorboard under the bed gives off an impression of magic. Upon the floorboard is written
"I have a torch but not a lantern. Not sure what to do about the lantern. Everyone search around for one." Glory takes the scroll from off the dresser and then does a quick search around the room for anything like a lantern. search: perception: 16
There are no lanterns in the room, but lanterns adorn the hallways as light sources; you could easily appropriate one without it being missed, as long as you put it back before too long.
"Move the bed before I get back." Glory speeds out the door to grab a lantern from the hallway. He hurries back, and places the lantern next to the floor board that is emanating magic. He steps back to see if anything happens. "By the way, and this may not be the best time to mention it, but I have been thinking and I remember what those big rubies like the one mentioned on the receipt are used for ... generally the are for calling forth devils." Glory waits to see what happens.
"I feel like I'm in a bad Barhamel play" Glory, notes the words and looks around one last time. "We should probably leave, I'm guessing the performers will be back soon."

(OOC: Do we find a receipt only or is there a ruby here? OR, is there 999 gold pieces here? I'm not clear on this.)
Glory wakes into the chalk and candle circle.

Darruk lets the magic people do magic as he watches the door
Blue Eyes will too watch the door for anyone who comes in.
I have an intelligence of six, I know what I'm doing.

Anybody who does not recall Bravado can give me a straight Intelligence check...
20 IOC, I know his soul,
his lantern, he broke his lantern. Perhaps if we hold one up? If that doesn't work I can smash it and we can show what was broken as it would look..

As the lantern is placed next to the floorboard, Glory and Blue Eyes watch the script change. Under the light, it now reads:

"I feel like I'm in a bad Barhamel play" Glory, notes the words and looks around one last time. "We should probably leave, I'm guessing the performers will be back soon."
