Ostran just scratches his head. He's never been too good with the magic stuff. So he'll defer all that nonsense to his other party members. "Ah well. Maybe we'll learn more about it as we talk with the people, eh? Someone's gotta know what this is."
Pell looks at the drawings with chagrin, "Unfortunately my magic is more divine than arcane. Those drawings don't mean much to me." Then, with an instant smile, Pell continues, "Lets go to the Comfy Inn and see who we can meet and what great friends we'll make!" Pell wraps one arm around Father Bernard in a one armed hug and asks, "Want to come with us and maybe partake in the name of our gods?"
Once Ari looks over the markings. It’s subtly different but you know this to be some sort of temporary teleportation circle. One that’s tied to a specific location. Given the information you’ve already know (and a good roll) it’s connected somewhere to another realm.
OoC: Sorry about that, I should have included the check roll in the post asking for the sigil drawing
"I'm familiar with this marking, its related to teleportation spells, though that is magic I do not possess myself. Its possible that whoever is taking these people is using a magical trap and zip them away. We should head out to the Comfy Corner and see what we can learn about Clarice, " He says and then turns to Luc, "...and also what we can learn about the local spirits."
Walking into town... it’s still eerily quiet. Passing a few shops you eventually see a larger building the a sign on it. In pictures a large plush chair with the words “Comfy Corner Inn” over it. It’s a large wooden framed building on a corner lot. Red shingle roof, and two large double doors on the entrance way.
Luc secures his horse to a post outside the inn, then heads to the door. Opening the door (assuming it is not locked) he strides in, and heads straight for the bar. "A mug of your finest ale for myself and all of my friends." he says to the barkeep, and looks around the room to see who (if anyone) is there this evening.
You come into the in. The booths and stools are upholstered with red plush fabric and dark oak wood table tops and bar top accents the bright fabric. A dwarf with brown hair and a finely trimmed beard is behind the counter slicing some citrus. “Oh! Welcome I wasn’t expecting to have any real customers. A couple o’ pints of the house coffee stout. Sit anywhere ya like, I’ll bring it right out.”
There are two other patrons. Older looking gentlemen that look like they are always there. Their heads down and keeping to their drinks.
Ari will tip the dwarf two extra gold pieces and say, "Thanks for the ale, friend. We're here trying to help with the, " he pauses for a minute, searching for the right word, "...with the troubles the town has been experiencing. We've noticed there aren't a lot of people out and about in this beautiful town."
He hangs his head and takes a minute and clears his throat. “Terrible business that is. Clarice was the last to go. She was the bar maiden here... kept a room upstairs. I don’t know what I’m supposed to do without her. I guess I don’t need the help.... everyone is afraid to come out of there homes in fear of being next. The town is ripe with terror and paranoia. Most folk don’t know who to trust. Turning on life long friends. It’s a bloody shame it is. I know that Holy man is doing his best, just seems that whatever is going on won’t quit.” He wipes and sniffles his nose before looking back at you
Luc listens to the dwarf's tale then orders up two more ale's and takes them to table were the two other patrons are seated. "We are here to help find out what is happening here my friends." Luc puts the drinks down in from of the two men. "We mean no harm, and what to help your town. What can you tell us of the disappearances that have taken place?"
Ari says, "I've never put too much stock in holy men. I find taking matters into your own hands tends to get more done than putting them together in prayer. My name is Ahramin Jedhor, and my friends and I, we will figure this out. Would you mind if I took a look around Clarice's room?"
He looks a little flustered but recomposes himself. “Uh, yeah sure thing”. As he bends down a hands a key. Her room is the last floor on the left.... up in the third floor.”
When you go investigate her room you walk up the stairs. The bright red furnishings have turned more calming blues and greens with copper decorations. Some oil paintings hang on the wall. This place seems to live up to its name and is quite cozy. Walking through her door:
you see a simple room: single bed, dresser with small mirror and a comb on top, some make up, a night stand, and a small window planter with some blue flowers that are beginning to wilt.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ahramin slowly goes through the room, looking through the dresser and night stand, turning over the sheets, sliding the mirror back to look behind it, but always putting things back the way the were and being careful with anything that seems delicate for fragile.
Investigation: 13
If there is any hair in the comb, Ari will take some and put in a pouch thinking that it might be useful in a location spell or some other similar type of ritual later.
Pell follows Ahramin closely - too close - peeking over Ahramin's shoulder as every item is examined. When Ahramin takes the strand of hair, Pell says, "Yes, clever."
Luc watches as Ahramin and Pell go upstairs, while still trying to engage the "regulars" at their table. "My name is Luc by the way, and my friends and I are going to figure this out one way or another."
(Refer to post #51 for a roll to engage them in a conversation.)
Luc - the bartender fills two drinks for the other gentleman before they even have to ask. Coming back to you. “Not much, people talk of demons and omens. I think it’s superstition mostly, town folk take to that when scared. Everyone is afraid to leave their homes. Clarice did seem more .... bubbly the pass few days before disappearing. It’s was really good to see. She doesn’t have family around, it was good to see her happy about something.”
In the Room - You manage to find some hair in the brush, there is a small coin purse with 2 gold,36 silver, and 58 copper, a small journal/diary under the pillow - quill and pen in nightstand. The journal is filled with some poems, stories about her days. Near the end of what was written you find Clarice mention the name of James. Through the writing she appears quite smitten and mentions a “date night”
Ahramin is seemingly oblivious to Pell's personal space issues, "Look at this Pell, date night with James, could be the last person she saw. Maybe the bartender, or some of the regulars, knows who this is."
Ahramin takes the journal and coin purse saying, "We should give this to any next of kin." Ahramin heads back downstairs to talk with the Dwarf again.
Luc nods listening closely to the Dwarf. Having not gotten anything out of the other two regular customers, he starts to head toward to stairs to catch up with Ahramin and Pell. At the same time the pair makes their way down the stairs. Luc waits for them, at the bottom, and asks "So, what have you found, anything to give us a clue where to look next?"

I would have helped Ahramin but...
