Whatever happens, after success or failure of Embirs stunt, Zander yells, Embir! Get out of the way! We're not protecting an old woman stealing children! His bow is out, ready to strike.
(Also, I realized reading the ammunition description that I can get half the ammo spent in a battle at the end of combat if I spend a minute searching. Can we say I did that after the wolf fight while everyone was cutting off tails? It would only be one arrow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Zander is puzzled. He clearly saw Necros hit her with an Eldritch blast, and she basically shrugged it off. I don't think she's interested in gold, Embir, she'd rather have the child.
Zander angles to the side to get in a better position and fires his bow. Attack: 24 Damage: 9

She turns, angry, with the arrow still sticking out of her. You watch as a glowing dart each flies at Zander, Lae, and Necros. (Take 5 force damage each). She then turns and keeps pushing the cart.
Zander grabs his chest. That hurt guys, I don't think we can take her. She's obviously more powerful than she looks. See if we can get the child back to its parents and get out of here.

She stops. "Fine. So be it." She unstraps the sack and lets the boy free. She mutters something under her breath, then turns to her cart.
She turns back. "You are strangers here and do not know the way of things, but these things you must know. Strahd has mastery over the land and the weather, and his spies include the Vistani. There's a Vistani camp to the west, on the shores of Tser Pool, and another on the outskirts of Vallaki. Strahd has undead enemies in Barovia, namely the fallen Knights of the Silver Dragon. These revenants can be found in a ruined mansion west of Vallaki. Strahd's most carefully guarded secret is a temple of forbidden lore hidden in the mountains. The temple can be reached by following the long and winding Tsolenka Pass."
You watch as she takes a few steps, there is a flash of light and she disappears.
The dog, paying no heed to the events continues down the street, stops and turns to look at you, wagging its tail.
Embir frowns and starts after the older woman. "Excuse me, ma'am?"
She keeps walking.
Embir goes faster. "Ma'am. I don't think that little boy is yours."
I fire an eldritch blast at her (20 to hit 10 damage)
Embir shouts. "Not with the kid!" and holds a shield up in front of the old woman and her cart to block it.
(which i have i checked i promise, what do I roll to block it?)

"But what about the children? What if they get hurt from the blast or shot or whatever?"
"I promise it will not i only kill on what i set out to kill"
She calls back over her shoulder something about "my payment".
The blast of energy manages to sneak past your shield, Embir, and hit the woman square in the back.
Zander yells, Embir replies, as does Necros, all while Embir is now fully standing behind her shield, blocking the woman from her party.
The old woman turns slowly, trying to figure out what hit her.
"Move embir, i will not kill the child, do you think me a blood thirsty monster?"
Embir, she's going to hit you in the back! Turn and fight, or move!
As soon as Zander has a clear shot at the old woman, he's going to take it.

Lae grunts, “Embir you gotta move!” as he runs at her and attempts to grapple her.
Strength check:13
Embir resists. "We have to save the kid! I pay that families payment myself!"
(strength: 5)
Lae now has Embir grappled. The woman turns slowly back to the cart and begins walking again.

Embir looks at them woman pleadingly. "Please, I can pay you in equal value to whatever the payment was. Return the child to them."
She stops. "Fine. So be it." She unstraps the sack and lets the boy free. She mutters something under her breath, then turns to her cart.

Embir blinks, and stops stuggling against Lae. "That, was easier than I thought it would be."
