Jut looks at the markings and since he can't read he doesn't try to read the markings but just looks at them from a visual perspective. After a couple minutes and a bunch of grunting while twisting his head back and forth he suddenly sees a pattern in the markings. Jut you recognize that the markings seem to be backwards from what you have seen before, even if you can't read them. Almost like they are reflected in a mirror.
Jut goes and gets a big banana leaf and a piece of coal from last night's fire. He cant read the symbols but he tries to copy them opposite of how they appear.
"I can ask Tymora for help again" He walks up and touches Whisper on the sholder: Guidance
Shank is actually more interesting in watching Tamu work through the difficulties and in watching Whisper become exasperated than in solving the puzzle. He sits down to watch as he works on his tools.
Between Whisper and Jut they are able to more or less rearrange the letters through trial and error until the message is laid out properly. It now is in front of you and in Common you read: "Danger increases day by day. The knocking, the pounding, the calls and the roars are now keeping us up at night. Nothing is safe, they are all dead. They keep coming in increasing waves and soon my end is assured. How can I get through this door? The walls bring danger and this is my only hope. If only I knew the words. The old man knew them and escaped but none could follow and now we are dead. Soon no trace of me will be left just like with my companions. I do not even remember their names. All is erased, all is lost"
Whisper stood more silent than her name. "What is this place?" she says at last. "OK, the walls. We saw one up close. They are terrifying in their own right but they also bring danger. The door. It requires words. One person knew them once upon a time. Maybe that person left a clue behind."
Whisper feels her heart racing and the anger rising in her. It feels like games and traps, like they are being toyed with.
"The writer of these words wanted through the door more than anything. He wrote this as a way to remember him, perhaps in this mirror script for that reason."
Whisper picks up a rock and goes to the wall next to the door, scratching NIGHT WHISPER WAS HERE in a reverse script. Underneath it she scratches FIND THE WORDS in the same reversed script.
"Yes," Whisper says, eyeing Jut. "I would love to set out this moment to explore the jungle west of the waterfall, but not if darkness will bring another threat to our feet."
If it's close to dark, just eating, building up the fire and planning watches. If its early enough to mine more obsidian to use in days to come Jut would, but only if he'd be back by dark.
Whisper checks the sky and determines it is too late to head into the jungle. "We should prepare. My gut tell me that tonight will be worse than last night. We should put two people on watch shifts and have all weapons ready." Whisper is clearly terrified by what they have deciphered.
Jut throws a few small sticks onto the fire and nods in acknowledgment. As yesterday's embers begin to catch he adds a couple larger branches before going for more. Planning to take most of the time before dark gathering wood from the edge of the clearing before settling in to watch.

Rage reading

Backwards, reversed? They're just wrong. Read them different. Very frustrated with the ordeal Jut goes for another mango and sits against a rock.
"Jut!" Whisper says in surprise. "That might be it! But we have no mirror. The water won't work. We'll just have to try puzzle it out.."
Night Whisper tries to flip the symbols as a mirror would.
Intelligence: 5
(edit: LOL!)
Jut goes and gets a big banana leaf and a piece of coal from last night's fire. He cant read the symbols but he tries to copy them opposite of how they appear.

"Okay, where can we look?"
Jut looks up trying to judge the time, he doesn't want to be out after dark.
"Yes," Whisper says, eyeing Jut. "I would love to set out this moment to explore the jungle west of the waterfall, but not if darkness will bring another threat to our feet."
(I just need to know what you all plan on doing at this point)

(It is about 2 hours before dark. the journey to the obsidian is about 45 minutes away round trip)

"I would be happy to take a shift first with whoever is ready to guard for the night. We can make preparations so we can explore in the morning."

I'll stay up with you. Who is on 2nd shift?
Whisper raises her hand. "I will."
