As Elyza steps forward to examine the fish folk, one of them lets out a cry.
Get back, sky demon!
The sphere of energy at the end of their trident flies through the air, striking at the ground in front of Elyza, the sand blasting up at the plague doctor.
The one that seems in charge gestures to stow that trident, speaking something to their folk before seeming to address the party again.
Vyserra was just about to leap to her sword and shield just as the spell was cast but yet mind told her to stop. She examined the fish folk from where she was to understand their body language and tone of voice. They’re scared. Of Elyza particularly. Understandable, considering how she showed herself.
”Elyza, maybe you should take off the mask? Show you are no threat?”

With Elyza removing the mask to show that she is indeed not a monster, there appears to be some relaxing of guard in the fish folk. One of them speaks out again in the Aquan tongue.
Well, strange pink-skin creatures, you should come with us. Our king may wish to meet you. Gather your items, it is a crime to despoil His Majesty's land.
I should probably describe how Elyza looks since she took the mask off.
Elyza has a sickly pale skin and dark black hair that is now peaking out of her hood. It almost blends into the dark leather hood itself. Her eyes are a bright emerald color. They seem to contrast greatly with her otherwise dull colors. With her mask off, you can read her facial expressions for the first time. At this moment, she looks quite annoyed.
Elirdain picks up his weapons from the ground normally as he stows it to his side after their two fish-speaking comrades translated the message.
"Since they don't want anything left here, I guess we'll have to bring our rowboats."
Though the sand hinders much of his movement, the fully armored gith helps the two subordinates untether their sea vessels from the treeline and pull them back to the shore in anticipation of their travel.

Believer of the almighty one, the Alpha and the Omega, whose love encompasses all of his creations, RNGesus.
Started as a player at time of registration. Started to DM a month later. Hoping to get better as time progresses.
Vyserra picks up her sword and shield and puts them back in their holsters, showing the fish men her open palms to show she’s empty handed and wishes to not cause any harm.
”Let’s try and be pleasant with these people, yeah? And not piss off an entire empire.”

The armoured people seem to discuss something, looking at the party one-by-one. Their spokesman nods and then steps forward, speaking once again in the aquan tongue.
"Distant creatures, you seem to survive here on the land, how fare you beneath the waters?"
Since no one wants to speak with the fish people after Kaala translated their message because they got completely caught off guard by the way the events are happening, Elirdain does a series of hand signals by pointing at the water followed by a gesture of choking himself using his two hands until he looked passed out.
“What he did.” Vyserra quips with a grin. “Yeah, we are purely land animals, can only hold my breath for a minute at most.” She pauses to think of what they said. “Please don’t tell me your empire is underwater.”
((going to assume kaala translated what Vyserra said as well, maybe not word for word haha))

"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Elyza reads the mood and figures out the fish men want them to go into the water for some reason. She complains about getting her garb and her materials wet while she slowly moves to be closer to the rest of the party. Specifically closer to the stronger guys like Elirdain and Vyserra.
(They're speaking in primordial, so she couldn't understand(unless she speaks primordial, not sure if she does, I might have missed that))

(Oh my bad. I though the prof. was speaking common.)

Hold your fire! They are not seeming to attack.
Tell your sky demon to show their true face.
Elyza gets sand on her mask from the blast. She slowly raises one of her hands and wipes the sand off.

Elyza responds, "How will that help? Fine, I'll do it. I needed to get sand out of my mask anyway."
Elyza takes her mask off and begins cleaning the sand out of it while muttering something about "inconsiderate aliens getting her mask sandy."
(OOC: I think we should've used Elyza's intimidating presence as a bargaining chip but whatever.)

Elyza begrudgingly puts her mask back on. Her pointy plague doctor stick is still sheathed.

The people look to one another, though with the helms covering their faces they cannot really see any sort of facial recognition.
(For ease, I am assuming that things will be interpreted/translated, so will stop with the spoilers.)
