And so the Party continues east (?) - Day 5, First Ten Day, Month of Eliasis 1)The sun continues to shine all day, at least you assume so because the day gets increasingly warmer, as the party moves deeper into the Ardeep Forest. 2) Unfortunately due to the thick canopy of trees, you very rarely see the sun at all except for the occasional glade caused by the collapse of a forest giant at sometime in the past. 3) The lack of the sun makes it very difficult for Meiva to be absolutely sure she is selecting the right path to continue east as they come to many crossings and divergences, as the party moves deeper into the forest but by drawing upon all of her knowledge, location of moss, etc. she thinks she is! 4) Golemogote continues to happily stuff branches, twigs and leaves in his mouth as the Party continues to meander through the forest. 5)After having traveled about 10 miles and it is late afternoon, you come to a forest glade with a small rivulet in it, which looks very similar to the one you stayed in last night. 6)No it's not the same one, it just looks similar.
**Quick Addition for before they break camp in regards to the Goblins request**
Torunn looks up as the Goblins approach them. When they ask about the studded armour, he thinks for a moment and then shakes his head. "The power Gond provides me only allowed me to quickly produce items that are mostly metal, this is because the magical flame I can conjure allows me to work with metal like it is clay, skipping the constant cooling and reheating that is normally required for metal work. I can also temporarily ignore the hardness of the metal. So what I can do for you Vark, is create you a chain shirt but it will require both spare scimitars and Reds chain. Beedo, you have shown interest in learning some crafting skills so I have a project in mind for you. Using the pelt from the Owlbear, I am going to show you how to create your own hide armour. It will require care and could take a week to treat the hide which will be the first thing I show you. Are you interested? "
Torunn will turn to his travelling companions. "My knowledge of the wilderness is next to nothing. Do we want to stay here for the night and continue tommorow?"
At Dork's offering to Jaylen, she at first just looks at the spear. For a good five to 10 minutes, she does nothing but look at the spear. Finally, she accepts Dork's offering.
On the journey ...
Jaylen is content to follow behind Golem on Trayan. Despite the view, allowing others to make the decisions allows her to spend time in her own thoughts, prayers mingled in as requests and thanksgivings come to mind, and is therefore pleasant.
In the glade ...
Jaylen dismounts and leads Trayan to the rivulet to drink. She bends down, puts a piece of cloth into the water, and then washes her face with the cloth.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"This looks like as good a place as any to stop for the day and rest. Very similar to the last place we stayed at. I sure hope there are not more Owlbears in the area."
Devin helps set camp and deal with the elephant. Aslan sniffs around the area before settling down near the fire.
"But I wonder where the elves are? I would have thought we would have made some sort of contact with them by now. We have to be at least halfway through this forest if we have been bearing mainly east. I would like to know that we are following the right trail and that this is the way the giant's cloud city came."
Devin looks around and up in the trees. Perception 8
"Elves live in trees right? Are their homes on the ground or in trees? Would you know Meiva? I know little of elves outside the city."
Dork is a merciful task master. So closer to the end of their training session, she promised to switch to lighter weapons the next day.
Both Goblin had looked to each other than back to Torunn before huddling up together to converse rapidly in goblin. At some points one or the other would peek their way out of the huddle to look over at DORK before the half-excited and half-argument sounding conversation comes to a close with Beedo stepping forward: big nose held high, and a feigned appearance of stuck-upness. "On one condition."Vark leans in and whispers into Beedo's ear. "On TWO conditions." He corrects, holding two fingers up. "One... We dye it red somehow(unless it was already red-furred somehow?:D), AND two... can we like make the head into some type of hood thing? Ya know... like dose tall folk northerners I used to hear 'bout."As soon as Beedo had his answer, he drops the act to beam ear from ear and even does a little dance on the spot alongside Vark.
Until D.O.R.K piped in, reminding them to pass over the necessary metal... In the new glade....
Not wanting to be taken by surprise a second time, D.O.R.K had taken to having a shield ready, and doing a quick perimeter sweep with Vark in tow and hopefully wearing a shiny new set of armor. As Beedo, in the meantime, spends his time helping keep the owlbear pelt maintained alongside Torunn. As well as regale the dwarf with a riveting tale of time his exploits as one of the "chief" scouts for the family.
"It occurs to me that I never asked this, Acolyte Vark. But it was mentioned before that your kinsman had moved near to the town recently. A month, to be exact. Query: Why was that?" She asks while the two were on their walkabout.

And so the Party continues east (?) - Day 6, First Ten Day, Month of Eliasis 1) After an uneventful night the Party breaks camp early the next morning and sets off. (OOC: if anybody wants to RP the night please feel free to do so) 2)Again Meiva managed to catch some trout from the small rivulet for dinner which was a nice addition to the rations the party had been carrying (OOC: reduce your rations by one day each - Meiva efforts are topping up your food supply so I am assuming that one day's rations can be stretched over three days. Trayan is finding enough grazing that one days food is sufficient for three days. Golemogote is in elephant heaven with the wide range of browsing and acorns - he'd never had acorns before that he does not need supplementary rations) 3) Again the day promises to be a lovely summer day with no wind and as far as the Party can see from the glade they camped in the sky will be blue but once they get moving back into the trees they can no longer see the sky. 4) The party continues to pick its way through the forest following paths which Meiva is again pretty sure is ensuring that so far as possible they are heading eastward. Not long after lunch as the party is making its way down a narrow path a figure not much over five feet tall and dressed largely in gold with a golden hue about his skin steps into the path with a nocked and drawn long bow pointing at them and says "halt, travellers in this part of the forest, well any part of the forest really, are not welcome here!"
As the party comes to a stop Devin climbs climbs down from Golemogote. He stands in front of the elephant with a friendly smile on his face.
"Hail and well met. We do not mean to intrude within the forest but we follow the trail of a floating city filled with giants that was last seen headed east from Nightstone. The giants attacked that town. My companions and I seek the elves of this forest to see if they have seen the floating city. If you have knowledge of this perhaps you could aid us in our quest?"
Torunn climbed down from Gol and if he can, will find his customary spot by a tree. He will then call over the two goblins. Telling them to bring over the equipment they want to him to convert into the armor. Once they are done, he gives them instructions on how to construct a temporary drying rack that will be attached to the cart. Whilst the goblins are doing that task, Torunn will go about working on the chain shirt for Vark, which takes him just over an hour. One this is done he will present the armor to Vark and tell Beedo to bring the Owlbear Hide.
Torunn spends the next hour or so, showing Beedo what he will need to do each night to stretch and work the hide. How to fold it, so that the orecprev work doesn't get ruined and most importantly how to use his tools properly and carefully. "One sign of my tools being mistreated and this is over. Got it?"Torunn says, a Stern look on his face.
***Before breaking camp***
Torunn will show Beedo how to attach the hide to the rack they constructed and explain that from now, as Torunn is busy with his own projects, he will only be supervising now.
A conversation on a forest path 1) As D.O.R.K. says "emisa" to Golemogotê, the elephant stops and Devin climbs down with Aslan sitting on his shoulder and introduces himself. 2) The figure looks at Aslan in surprise and then bows perfunctorily saying "well met I am Endor of the House Arrowhome." He thinks for a minute and continues "our scouts did report seeing a Flying Castle travel over the Forest in an easterly direction three days back." 3) At this point and not knowing any better Beedo and Vark stand up from where they have been resting in back of the Cart. There is a slight rustling in the forest either side of the path and Endor says in a less friendly tone - not that his initial tone was particularly friendly - "perhaps you can explain why your party includes Gobbo's?"
"Yes, the flying castle. That is the one we follow. So you had no interaction with them? They didn't, say, drop big rocks on you? And it was still headed east?"
Devin smiles again his friendly grin.
Then the goblins show themselves.
"Goblins. Yes well, a member of our party had taken upon herself to take into her care these two. They are now her... acolytes. They seem to serve her well. They have fought by our side. They have killed orcs and even other goblins along side of us."
The whole time Torunn had been talking to Beedo about proper tool useage, the goblin had the biggest eyes and the hungriest look about him as he stares at the area. It's clear he knew next to nothing about them at a glance, but the dwarf had certainly captured his attention in one fashion. "Yeah, yeah. No breaky. I gotcha, BLT, I gotch'ya. Then after it's done, ye'll show me how ya made dose arrows, right?"
Meanwhile, D.O.R.K spends her time prior to rest drawing and re-drawing in the mud the village of Night Stone for the sake of replaying the battle. Although she prefaced it with Vark as a means of teaching him tactics while at it, anyone that overhears the conversation could swear it border on obsession....
The Conversation on the Path...
For better or worse, D.O.R.K had been actively looking for any archers in the forest since hearing the rustling, realizing perhaps then the group had walked into a potential ambush. Without the usual fanfare of a declaration, she turned to golden elf on the road with eyes red and glowing. "Query: What are gobbos? Additional Query: Do you or you people happen to know of the stone that once rested in the center of Nightstone?"

At Devin's question, Endor gives a quick whistle and a figure dressed in green with a strung low-bow steps out of the woods and goes up to him. They have a quick whispered conversation in a language that Devin does not understand. Endor turns to Devin and says "the castle just passed over the forest to the east without slowing."
"Query: What are gobbos? Additional Query: Do you or you people happen to know of the stone that once rested in the center of Nightstone?" D.O.R.K. asks of Endor from his position on Golemogote's shoulders.
Endor replies "Gobbo's is those pointy eared gits that are lurking in the back of your cart"to D.O.R.K.'s question. "As to the stone that was in the village, we were of its existence, it was rather big and the humans named a village after it, but I know no more than that."
"They seem to serve her well. They have fought by our side. They have killed orcs and even other goblins along side of us." Devin says in response to Endor's question about Beedo and Vark.
"Took on Orcs you say, that is impressive for Gobbos. As to fighting other Goblins, nothing new there, they are always fighting," Endor says in response.
"Thank you for the information. May we pass then and continue east? Our only interest in being in your forest was following the castle. If it has continued on then we will do so also as quick as we may."
And so the Party continues east and reaches the edge of the Ardeep Forest - Day 6, First Ten Day, Month of Eliasis 1) "Yes, yes, you may pass" Englor says to the Devin and Toruun. 2) The Party continues to follow the path to the east and as late afternoon approaches they break out of the forest. 3) Immediately in front of them then can see a set of hills stretching off into the distance.
4) Again they strike it lucky for they find an ideal campsite with water and plentiful grazing for both Trayan and Golemogote.
