The Kenku merely opened her beak in response to the question.
First she made the sound of well, Leaves-Falling-In-The-Sea. It was the unmistakable hearty sound of ocean waves, the bony rattle of a tree branch rattled by a gust of wind, and a few nearly inaudible drops and ripples.
As for her profession, she paused a moment then made the frightening sound of an arrow swishing.
She felt this conveyed all the information the man needed.
Slamming a fist into his chest, Jevyn stood in a sort of salute."I am Soldier Jevyn. I am the devastator-in-training of the Feldawn banner. I have been training with these folks." Noting Captain Witherwick's unease at Leaves' response, Jevyn tried to translate. "Seabeak was a sailor who joined up with us a while back. She has proven herself a fierce fighter."

Esme cawed quietly on Jevyn's shoulder as he looked around the room the party was in. He attempted to glance at Captain Witherwick from the corner of his eye to gauge the kind of person he was.
Witherwick adds one ominously long line to his notebook and nods to each of you. Without another word, he leads you behind the tower into a makeshift training ground, surrounded on all sides by steep wooden walls.
"Impress my weapon trainers and you impress me. Take your choice of blade, bow, or brawl, and we'll see how you do. "
The short, light man who stands beside the archery course seems to be half elf, and his eyes and hair are pale. He grins winningly at you, at the same loosing an arrow over his shoulder at a target 90 feet away and striking it dead center.
The giant of a man who oversees the wrestling ring has a pair of earings the size of each of your heads and a body as thick as it is tall. He wears nothing but a pair of leather breeches.
Three guards watch in amazement as one of their companions is humiliated by a dark-haired woman in common clothing. Though the man is y no means unskilled, she effortlessly relieves him of his sword in one swift flick of her wrist.
"Pick your poison." The captain chuckles gleefully.
(I assume the dark haired woman is a melee weapons trainer?)
Shiv, with a large toothy grin spreading across his face will bounce over towards the dark haired woman. "Hello! My name is Shiv!" The viashino will say, blinking his eyes one after the other with his togue flicking out as he speaks. "I hope you take it easy on me, I really want a job working with you guys!"The green lizard will say as his tail flips around wildly.
Shiv will lower both of his clawed hands and draw his scimitars from his belt, twisting them in the sunlight as he looks from one to the other before turning back to the woman. "Am I allowed to use these or are there some wooden training weapons I should use?"The viashino will say with a grin.
"Sounds good to me!"Shiv will say sheathing his scimitars and walking towards a nearby weapon rack and grabbing two wooden shortswords before bouncing back towards the woman. "What is your name? If you don't mind me asking." The viashino will say, examining the wooden weapons and giving them a quick twirl in his clawed hands before locking eyes with the woman. "I am ready when you are, bouncing back and forth from one leg to the other, his tail raised up over his shoulder like a scorpion ready to strike.

"My name," She says cooly, " Is Blademaster Lang. "
Without another word she draws two wooden swords of her own and advances.
The Rules:
The first character to score two successive hits is the victor. No damage rolls will be made, it is only the attack roll which matters. The wooden swords are treated as simple melee weapons and use either Strength or Dexterity to hit. Instead of rolling against an AC your opponent makes either an Athletics or Acrobatics check to oppose the attack roll.
As blademaster Lang moves towards Shiv, He will lower himself for a moment before springing himself towards her, swinging wildly with the two shortswords, the first strike aimed high at her head while the second would come in low sweeping across her legs as the Viashing twirls around like a tornado of blades, his barbed tail coming within inches of her face.
Attack 1 with main hand towards head 17 Attack 2 with off hand across legs 12
Leaves had closely watched the Half-Elf as he showed off his archery skills. She noted his body stance, grip and draw length. Like an artist, she noted all the details and walked silently forward portraying confidence, drawing her weapon with a swift motion-her prized Longbow was easily as tall as she was, made with richly polished yew, and stringed with an odd, silky green material. The black feathering adorning the arrows was her own, naturally, painted with red tips. It had a heavy draw, and was designed for range, to be used for fighting from ship deck to ship deck. But her build was perfect for an archer, lithe yet muscular, and she could handle it.
She considered the shot. Anything a Kenku saw they could mimic. In theory. The gap came from experience, observation, and dealing with a lack of improvisation.
Action: Leaves attempts to mimic the Half-Elfs shot perfectly with her own bow, landing her arrow right between his!
The man grunts and whips out a notebook and quill.
"Names? Occupations?"
Flayr Flameseeker | Genasi/Fire | Wizard/School of Evocation | Level 2 | Custom Campaign: Cold Cash
"They call me Shiv sir!... current occupation... mercinary I guess?" The Viashino will say scratching his chin.
"Tak. Mercenary." Tak says

Atlas steps forward, giving a couple of rumbling, heavy footfalls. "I am Atlas. I am the Guard."

Witherwick has the stony and unreadable expression of a hardened soldier, but you can tell that he is not as unpleasant as he appears.
