(I'm here! Sorry, got super wrapped up and thought I fell too behind to rejoin, but I'm here! I'll be much more active.)
Simply doing his best to remain undetected and out of sight as the city life was never for the kobold, he'd make his presence known once again upon entering the tunnel. Studying the ground and walls thoroughly, feeling as if tunnels above all else are his specialty. "Meep lead the way. You watch Meep back."
(That’s okay Eremis, I don’t think Meep had much to say in an urban setting! If anyone is away like that, I’ll assume they are silently following the rest – maybe daydreaming or in deep thought)
The boxes are sealed and they are heavy, but not too heavy. (Mechanically they give you DISADVANTAGE on DEXTERITY checks and saves.)
The party follow along the tunnel which turns from a crudely dug corridor to walls, floor and ceiling lined with stone blocks. The tunnel leads you into what used to be a big square room, now with the walls broken down and many tunnels exiting through them. The tunnel you stand in is 5 ft below the floor level of the rest of the room and leads straight, continuing beyond the limits of the room.
Kamos doesn’t notice anyone or anything present at the moment. The party seems to be alone. There is an echo of what seems to be scratching coming from somewhere. You also notice a marking, which looks like a simple circle with a line running through it, scratched into the stone on the wall of the tunnel you just came from.
Meep sees a faint glow coming from one of the boxes – school of magic: Abjuration.
Dhara: “Well you have to wonder what’s in the boxes, don’t you? Maybe it’s worth more to us in hand than delivered. Besides, she didn’t say not to look in them..”
She examines the one she is carrying. How is it sealed? How strong is it? Could it be opened and if so, resealed?
investigation: 20
(I hope the roll works - there’s no roller on the mobile so I’m guessing at the syntax)
(Turn your phone sideways and you get more options)
"Meep not care about his box. Meep not the one carrying glowing box." The kobold states as he continues awkwardly through the tunnel with a box that might just be too heavy for him.
The boxes, made out of hard wood, have the top side sealed with nails. It could be opened and possibly resealed if you don’t destroy the nails as you open it.
Jaylen looks on in shock as he realizes what Dhara is doing. "Dhara we made an agreement with these people. True she didn't say don't look so I guess some curiosity doesn't hurt. But no matter what is in there we can't take it. They fed us, and gave us a place to sleep at their own risk knowing we are escaped slaves. They have earned at least some honesty from.us, haven't they?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
“I don’t intend to steal anything, I just want to know if what we’re carrying is going to get us in more trouble. We have no idea what or who we’re dealing with. Besides she didn’t tell us not to look!”
Dhara manages to stop herself before she bends the nails, steadying her hands and slowly continuing. The box is opened and the nails are intact.
Inside the box Dhara was carrying is variety of goods including: - a small wooden box, that’s held together with a ribbon tied around it - a small bundle of fabrics - a medium sized sachet - and a tailored fabric item, nicely folded (Meep this is what has adjuration aura.)
Kamos: (to the party) "Now that we are alone, i want to talk about what happened back there. I can't believe you guys would abandon Albrec, and not only that, you named his name to some stranger? Did it not occur to you people that Xanthe might give Albrec's name to the slavers making it easier to find him? We wouldn't have escaped if it wasn't for Albrec fighting/distracting the guards. As soon as we get out of here, i think we should part ways, i don't like being in the company of people who would throw me to the wolves at first convenience." (i get that we can't look for Albrec since Pertanax isn't here, but i thought it would be in character for Kamos to react this way.)
Meep taking a moment to look at Dhara as she pried open a box. "Nosey has the glowy." A glance given to Kamos for only a second before the kobold would continue in the tunnel, not caring who stayed or left, only his own survival.
(i get that we can't look for Albrec since Pertanax isn't here, but i thought it would be in character for Kamos to react this way.)
(No, that’s defiantly fair! And if Pertanax comes back the party’s actions will have affected his character. Just be prepared to go through with it if you guys don’t work this out. We can always reintroduce him back to the party after a while.)
"Kamos, I don't like leaving Albrec behind anymore than you do, and once we have proper identification I plan to search for him myself, with or without you all. Although I certainly would appreciate the company. Don't forget when Albrec was caught up in a struggle with that gaurd I went back for him. But you must realize how impracticly dangerous it is for two very recognizable escaped tiefling slaves to go searching through the city. We need to think of everyone's safety. Not just Albrec's. As far as names being mentioned, Erin and the Tavern owner seemed of decent sort. They went out.of their way to help us. I can't imagine them turning him in. If anything knowing his name may give them an opportunity to help him if he wanders into their tavern, or at least send him our way. If you feel this strongly about leaving I won't try and stop you. You are free, truly, with all the responsibility and burden that entails. But I urge you to reconsider. Let us get proper identification and find him. Together."
Kamos: (to Jaylen) "Sorry Jaylen, it was unfair of me to group you with the others, you did help with our escape and helping Albrec fight off the guards. I'll think on leaving the group, perhaps i just need some time to cool off. I think its unwise to trust anyone here, Xanthe has his reasons for letting complete strangers he thinks are escaped slaves do this job for him."

“I appreciate not wanting to leave someone behind, but I have to echo the others and what I said before. If we all get caught it does none of us any good. If Albrec was caught, we have a much better chance of helping him if we come back better prepared and able to help. Right now we have practically nothing, and are lucky we have that. Also in my own defence, I spent literally minutes in captivity with you all. I have no idea who you are, how you got here, what your motives are or even if you’re on the same side. You will find that I do not give trust and loyalty away easily, but that when I do it comes in spades. If you wish to leave that is your choice, but I feel our chances of survival and freedom are significantly higher together.”
As for the crate, I’d like to examine the fabric item more closely, and also untie the small box and see what’s inside, taking care to recall their current state so as to be able to put it back together/fold it in the same manner.
Halhace grunts as he hears talk of one of them leaving the group as he turns towards the rest of them, his face set in a stony mask. "He made his choice to go a seperate way. We all know nothing about each at all so for all we know he may have decided to go his own way. For now we have a job that will possibly get us out of the situation we are in. Perosnally I learned from a young age to look after myself first, second and any other number after that. My people may be rather dullwitted but they are wise enough to understand that everyone is almost always out for themselves. Now unless you want to go back and risk being made slaves once let us continue on with our job."
Dhara unfolds the tailored item, revealing a finely made cloak; blue on the outside and red inner lining, with a trimming of light grey. It feels surprisingly light and thin.
(Roll ARCANA if you want to know what it is. Otherwise it needs attunement)
Unwrapping the box first reveals a bunch of straw, in between which is a necklace of fine craftsmanship with detailed engravings. It has a socket in the middle but it’s empty.
The sound only Kamos noticed earlier, the scratching, now grows louder and seems to be coming from the tunnel you stand in, Meep is headed straight towards the growing sound.

Ok, then I’ll pull out my dagger and open the one I’m carrying.
..Dexterity? 10
edit: this is assuming we are well on our way through the tunnel and therefore far away from the tavern we left and anyone that would notice.

(You’re trying to keep the nails intact, right? Then yes, dexterity)
Dhara slides her dagger under the lid and starts to lift it with a bit too much force.
Roll dexterity again to see if the nails stay intact.
