"by Moradins will ye two are something else.. but ye warmed an old dwarfs heart with ye willingness to back me up here. These Duergar are glorified gate guards that have nothing better to do. lets see if this guard will step out of his little hole eh! give him a wallop! "
You hear a loud clanging sound from behind the city gates. Then you see the movement of the great doors beginning to opening and dust from the hinges and between the gates flow down the walls. It’s enough to make it difficult to see
When the dust settles and your visibility improves, you see a hulking giant of a Goliath in front of you. This fella ate his Wheaties as a kid...and probably his brother’s Wheaties and habitually stole lunch money and toys from the neighbor kids in the alley he grew up.
The hulking beast walks out, fists clenched, absolutely towering over Gremryl who now may be reconsidering his rather bold challenge.
The Duergar Gate Guard’s voice is heard from further back behind the safety of the walls and says, “Ok, Dwarf. But if you lose, you’re all going to be sold on the auction block to the highest bidder. Hahahahaha!”
Before Leon, Morgana and Stool can react, they’re bound, gagged and forced to their knees by 6 invisible Duergar Guards that we’re in fact still there, even though they had disappears just moments before.
Duergar Gate Guard - “Your friends ain’t gonna he’ll you out either, Dwarf. Hahahaha! Damn, you some kinda stupid that I ain’t seen in a century. Did your mom consider tossing you out with the trash when she’s had you or was she too desperate for your daddy to stick around she’s had to keep ya? Hahahahaha!! Grugg, one night at the Twin Boulders for ya if you finish this in under a minute.”
Grugg, the Goliath, grins at the misfortune Gremryl now finds himself in.
Grugg - “Come, little Dwarf. Grugg not like to wait.” The monstrous giant says in the deepest voice you’ve ever heard.
Grugg takes a brawlers stance, with no weapons in hand and wearing no armor to speak of other than a mighty belt with what appears to be fur covering his man parts...which Gremryl assumes are equally as mighty as his overly muscular physique.
Gremryl’s attacks both land mercilessly across the chest of Grugg and he takes a few steps back as blood begins to swell from his over-sized pecs. Staring down at his now bleeding chest, he takes two large fingers and swipes a large swathe of blood with them. Bringing them to his lips and tasting his own lifeblood, he grins and says, “Grugg thanks you.”
Raising both fists into the air, Grugg releases a thunderous warcry as he enters into a barbarian’s rage! His eyes then set their focus on Gremryl and without further warning he charges forward slamming both of his heavy fists into Gremryl’s head from both sides causing immense pain and dealing 20 points of damage!
Taking a second attack he picks up the Dwarf with sheer brute strength and tosses Gremryl about 25 feet across the expansive cavern dealing another 10 points of damage.
Grugg - “MOAR!!!” The bloodrage bow filling his thoughts with violence and anger!
Gremryl not having been tossed since his days in the Army spits out blood.. "that was a doozy" He'll cast lay on hands on himself for 16 points of healing. Then he'll back up
then I'll move back my complete movement since I'm already 20 feet away putting 25 more feet between us looking for any stalactatices or the like around us (I'm 45 feet away now)
"come on then ye be ass orcish son of rotting mind flayer!!!"
He'll bang his shield and cast shield of faith on himself, putting my ac at 21
Morgana’s underwhelming attempt at stealth has her dropping the bottle of slipperiness after uncorking it and spilling juse enough of it out to render the bottle no longer gripable with her fingers. It drops to the ground and begins leaking out onto the stone floor behind her.
Whispered into ear as the sharp steel of a spear pierced her neck and draws a single drop of blood, “Please...try something else. I haven’t ****ed a Tiefling child before...” a sickening voice says.
To Grem Telepathically: "You're doing great, Dad! You're the toughest dad on the whole damn block! Keep tireing him out by letting him beat you senseless! Then work the groin like a speed bag!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
To The guard outloud: "EEEEKKK!! I don't feel soooohhhhhh…" Morgana will pretend to swoon and collapse to the floor right in the oil. Deception check = 15
”We are surrounded by invisible guards with Spears to our throats... while I like the idea, I like the idea of staying alive better. I am talking with my girl right now. Give me one second.”
Your current situation is indeed a product of your own arrogance, Leon. That said, it would seem the safest course of action would be to wait for a better opportunity for escape. I can sense the presence of many hostile creatures behind us with a call to duty in their hearts and likely no regrets in killing you and your companions if given the order to do so.”
”I wouldn’t call it arrogance. I was defending my old man but I am not going to argue with your beautiful ass. I agree with your assessment. Thanks love.”
Dawnbringer (to Leon telepathically) - “I have faith in you Leon that we shall indeed have this date of ours. These creatures seem to be of order, not chaos. Your time will come. Be wary for it if we manage to make it within the city walls.”
Now that Morgana is coated in the oil she can't be restrained. She will enable quickened casting, slip her bonds and gag by expending 10 movement points (as per the spell freedom of movement), cast darkness on the captives, summon her mage hand and send it to cut leon loose.
With a mighty battle cry, the ogre-sized barbarian readies two handaxes from his waist and throws both simultaneously at Gremryl who stands at the ready with shield raised.
Prepared for the first projectile that flies directly towards Gremryl’s head, his shield deflects the handaxe although to his memory, never before has a thrown weapon carried such force! Unable to properly see the second handaxe after raising his shield to deflect the first, the attack critically strikes Gremryl’s right leg and deals a savage 15 points of damage!
Unwilling to move, and with a shimmer of dark red like the color of blood flash across his eyes, the barbarian grins madly at the Paladin. As a Bonus Action he activates Frenzy.
Gremryl takes the slice.. "dammit.. what do they feed those guys"
he'll cast lay on hands again on himself for 14 points.
"Aye.. ye throw like a duergar hand maiden during the blood moon!" and I'll move 25 feet back again. that puts us at 60 ft apart. as a bonus action I'll ignore my mace.

"moradins balls! I challenged you guard.. but if ye want me to smite him, then by the will of Moradin! it shall be done!"
seeing how large he is, he isn't dropping his weapons, having been hustled.
10 initiative

“Any suggestions in this moment? I really want to get you in this town so we can go on that date I promised.”
To leon telepathically: "Try to aim dawnbringer at your bonds and then extend the blade! Get us free!"
