"Who's locking all the doors in this place before leaving it abandoned?" Perry asks aloud as he shakes the handle of another locked door. A quick glance given to the others who seem to have become slightly reserved within the past few minutes. Though he'd shrug it off as he reached for a few tools.
"It is a good question, Perry. I think the answer is obvious, however. It is either some devil that has been witched into the world solely to click each and every locking mechanism in place in the greater pursuit of driving us mad, or it is the arcane puppeteers that lurk behind the curtain of this contest." The half-orc marauder shrugged a massive shoulder again, causing his bone adornments and chainmail armor to rattle, "Either way, all we can do for now is hold on to our frustrations and release them at the next convenient targets." Glancing down at his marred axe blades again, Dagon snarled menacingly, "... and may the Gods have pity on those hapless targets when we find them."
Returning his attention to the task at hand though, the warrior looked toward the door Perry worked on. "How goes that door? Let me know if you need assistance."
The half-orc marauder grunts an affirmative, and he strides over toward Humphry to retrieve the crowbar from the gnome. He then makes his way to the door and jams the crowbar into the frame, thrusting again with the strength and ferocity of a combatant plunging iron into his foe. The warrior gnashes his teeth and whips his heavy mantle of dreadlocks about himself, plants his feet firmly and begins applying pressure. The muscles of his arms and back bulge with the strain, and Dagon growls with relish as his raw power is tested once again.
Strength Check:22
I know that I should probably be waiting for Humphry to give Dagon the crowbar, but in the spirit of expediency I went ahead and assumed that he would give it to Dagon without issue. I apologize about taking the liberty, but I really didn't want to story to bog down or lose momentum. If you take exception to this though JJ, I definitely understand and you can disregard this action.
(Lol, I don't worry about these things. For the sake of time you did the right thing.)
Dagon snaps the brittle door in half, but at the same time unwittingly triggers a trap. A massive stone slab plummets from the ceiling at the area directly in front of the door. Perry and Dagon, make a Dexterity ST.
Unable to relish the satisfying splinter of wood yielding beneath his might, Dagon's attention is immediately drawn to the sound of a trap being sprung and a massive stone careening down from above. The half-orc roars in surprise and does his best to leap clear of the danger.
Dagon clears the danger area with inches to spare, but Perry is not so lucky. His leg gets caught under the massive stone with a sickening crunch, and he feels several bones shatter.
With another snarling roar escaping from between his tusks, Dagon lunges for the fallen Perry in an attempt to free the Human from beneath the heavy stone. The half-orc takes a quick glance at the stone to see where he can grip it without further endangering the trapped leg, then carefully places both hands on the stone and looks to his other team mates.
"Come, pack mates! I will move the stone, and you need to drag him from beneath it's weight. We need to free him now!"
Strength Check to shift the stone enough so that Perry can be safely moved from beneath it:16
The half-orc strains and heaves, lifting the stone just enough so that Kic and Humphry can pull Perry to safety. His mangled leg will be of no use until it is healed.
(I am one of those DM's who likes to integrate negative mechanical effects in addition to taking damage. I figure that after getting your leg caught under a stone slab you wouldn't be able to walk on it for some time.)
(You have probably deduced this by now, but I am much more active on weekdays than on weekends. Hopefully I can post more often than I have been these next few days.)
Perry opens the southern door!
It is securely locked.

Perry's attempts to bteak the lock are to no avail, though the wood looks promisingly rotten and weak.

Fumbling about with the lock only to come up empty handed, Perry would step aside to allow Dagon a chance. "Definitely need your assistance, Dagon."

Not quite as quick as the half orc, Perry reels in pain as he suddenly finds himself trapped underneath a stone slab, breaking his leg in the process.
