"I won't disagree with you, Trim." Reverie replies quietly, "I am afraid that we won't be helpful to them but trouble if we are forcing ourselves to finish their request right away." Then she looks at Isk and the other companions. "We have someone who needs some full of content rest."

(OOC: If you haven't read Heinlein's "Space Cadet", his Venusian underwater race has advanced biological and chemical technology, carried around in ordinary wineskin-like bladders. That seemed appropriate for Merfolk.)
Reverie picks up the fish bladder, which feels blubbery and cool. She notices one end, which has some kind of organic squeeze valve. In contrast with her noble upbringing, she drinks with little hesitation. It does taste like a potion of healing, without any fishy taste. Iskander looks on, a bit uncomfortable, but follows her example and drinks. (Reverie and Iskander have healed another 7 HP.)
Before Iskander can reply to Reverie (about his familiarity with the Forestgleam name) or to Jack (cliffhanger about what he wanted to ask), Vordat continues speaking. "We are glad to see you trust the limited hospitality we could give. We understand that you are battle-weary, as we are. But time is of the essence.
"You asked about other land-beings that were captured (post 1303). A few hours ago, we saw a merrow with 3 bound land-beings come from this direction. It joined up with a mighty sahuagin force that we were tracking. We followed them (stealthily) to a series of above-water caves. A number of my people have been abducted by the sahuagin, and we suspect they are being held there as well. But their peril increases, the longer they are held. We want to rescue the prisoners, but the above-water caves are difficult for us to move. Your group does not have this handicap.
"Other merfolk patrols are gathering nearby, but the enemy is too many to be opposed, even with your fighting power. My plan is for us merfolk to distract the enemy with a surprise attack. Your group will enter from a side-passage, find the prisoners, and lead them out. We will then flee, before their full forces are brought against us, but your people and mine will have been freed.
"This is much to ask, but will you join us? This mission is something that neither of our groups could do alone, but have a chance of success together. But we have to act now."

Isk is about to answer Reverie and Jack when the merman mentions the location of the other shipmates. "I will help, I need to help my shipmates if I can. Will the rest of you come with me? I will answer any questions you have once we have taken them from harm's path."
Reverie hums slightly, thinking deeply about the request from Vodat and Isk. “Trimyrai, Froskan, do you all okay with this request? I am fine to make this request. Those survivors might be waiting for its help to rescue.”

Vordat thanks you, and urges your group to step into the water. The five largest dolphins swim up, with saddles attached to their backs. After your group are settled and strapped in, the merfolk and the dolphins swim at top speed NE, deeper into Discord Bay. The dolphins are porpoising at the surface of the water, so you have to focus on breathing at the right time, and are unable to talk during the trip.
After 30 minutes, the group slows down, and the dolphins stay at the surface. Your group is water logged. Jack, Trim, and Isk are shivering from the water temperature. (Not enough to affect your health, but your group isn't overly happy at the moment.) This area has scatterings of small islands and reefs, which your group is hiding behind.
Ahead is a large island, with a number of cave openings. That island is somewhat hard to see. Even though it is getting darker as evening approaches, the island is already dark, and covered in a fog which doesn't react to the gusts of wind around the bay.
A mermaid swims up to Vordat and talks to him in hushed whispers. They both look concerned. Vordat turns to your group. "We have a few moments before moving again. That island ahead is where the sahuagin bands have gathered, and where we suspect the prisoners are being held. I have been told that a pair of large vessels approached from the west, and are anchored on the other side of the island. This unnatural fog was wrapped around those ships. They flew no banners, and whatever crew they had stayed hidden. There are fouler beings than Merrow visiting this island tonight.
"The plan is what I mentioned earlier. The entrance you will use is too small for rowboats and Merrow, so it is lightly guarded. Another merfolk squad is securing it right now. There is a concealed ledge overlooking the main cavern. We will wait a while, to give you time to see where the prisoners are being held. Then we will attack the main entrance, drawing their forces away from you. Bring any prisoners to the way you came in, and we hide you all until morning.
"We have a little time. Do you have questions?"

”ok, Reverie, Froskan, Isk, Trim, we need to be quiet. We will have to sneak past these guys. Sahuagin show no mercy. If we are spotted, we will have to fight our way through. Do you understand me?
Jack looks at the Merfolk. “I don’t trust these guys, Reverie. But I hate Sahuagin more. We’ll have to watch ourselves.”

(now in aquan) ”Ok. So you will attack to draw their attention? What if you lose? What will we do?”
“Reverie, Isk! You good?” If they show no signs of dieing soon, jack smiles. A smile of thinking....
