"Oh—" Reverie couldn't continue once she heard what Froskan says. If that's true, then what Jack warned them through a message is real. The Dryad is confused, still believing her tree is alive. Reverie takes her scimitars out in her hands as she gazes into the Dryad while listening to Jack. But then, a few keywords strike into her mind. Have the mortals been here before us? A mad lust power? A sigh escapes, feeling guilty about what she has spoken to the Dryad. But it was true that her tree died for a long time, right? "I will deal with her. Maybe there is a way to calm her down." Reverie mutters.
Then she speaks in elvish. "Look, we do not want to fight or harm your tree! We can see you are confused: we are not here to harm your trees, but to find the answer!"
Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can

DMing "Gallia Campaign 1".
Looking for a new game, if you need a player private message me.
Rolling for Iskander's initiative: 11, the Mound's WIS save vs. Jack: 20, then some secret DM rolls:
17, 8, 2, 5
14 vs DC 13
4, 13, 17, 13, 9
Starting in round 2, the initiative order will be: Dryad, the party (Froskan, Reverie, Trimyrai, Jack, Iskander), then the remaining foes
What the party did during round 1:
Jack moves to J6. (Everyone else was stationary.) Jack's taunting was resisted by the Mound. (The plant can take psychic damage. But with a roll of 20, it was just too stupid to realize it was insulted)
Froskan's ice spell fizzles out. It was Counterspell-ed!
Both of Iskander's blasts hit, for 12 damage. (S. Mound has AC 15).
Reverie and Trimyrai try to talk to the Dryad, but it is unsuccessful... When she talks about other mortals, it sounds like it was her sister who persuaded her that they deserved to die. (You don't see any other Dryads around her, so you aren't sure who or what this "sister" is.)
What happened at the end of round 1:
There are figures in squares L8 and M9 that were not there before, standing on tree limbs 15' above the ground (out of normal weapon range, but still within glaive-reach).
They look like the skinniest brown bears you've ever seen, and move like people instead of animals. (Think of the mom in the movie "Brave". And these are not were-bears.)
The L8 enemy muttered some sort of spell. The eyes turned a solid black (like a shark's), and it glares at Iskander. For a moment, he feels nauseated, but he narrowly resists the Eyebite.
The M9 enemy used Counterspell on Froskan as it's reaction. For its normal action... it disappears from sight.
Jack (and only Jack) hears footsteps running at him from the east. But he can't see anything approaching, and there is no sign of anything moving through the tall grasses.
For round 2
The Dryad is confused, yelling at Reverie and Trimyrai to shut up. (That is her entire action. I wanted to reward the 2 of you trying to talk her down.)
The entire party is up. (OOC: If you are confused by my description above, just ask. But it would be normal for your characters to wonder what is going on.)
Beegred Thornpost - Lvl 8 Halfling Ranger - Out of the Abyss by Kerrec Drusk - Lvl 8 Half-Orc Life Cleric - The Long Road: Dragon Heist by Mingofaust (player & current DM) Hunferho Aelorothi - Lvl 5 Half-Elf Bard/Rogue - Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus (by Pokepaladdy) DM - Frontier City of Nunkreet (ended)
Reverie bits her lower lips as she looks around the area. Noticing there are other enemies, she feels like she got into this trap. A yell from the Dryad has given her a choice to change her mind. The Dryad is confused, and she went insane due to her tree's death. Maybe there is no way to talk her down. Looking back at the Trimyrai for a moment, Reverie walks toward the Dryad. So, she will move to J8. "You have to snap out of your clouded mind and look around the wood. The life is fading, and there are strange creatures, attacking my friends. I beg you to understand, but stop this fight right now or help us!"

Reverie Forestgleam—Human Paladin Level 5 in Frontier City of Nunkreet Extremely busy and busy as ever recently, but I will trying to catch up as much as I can
”Ah.” Jack looks around at the party. “Ye guys don’t think this Plant thing is her ‘sister’, do ye? We can discuss that, but there’s something here, in secret. Let’s take it out.” Jack beats out a song, and a bright purple light fills a 20ft Cube, centered around J11 (Faerie Fire. DC 15 Dex Save, or emit Light in a 10ft radius, and we have advantage on the attacks against them. Should effect anyone in a cube, within 20ft of J11.)
The Feywilds, how wild, how crazy this place is
we’ve come across an angry dryad and some form of Plant Beast!
But now, how about it, I hear footsteps, but nothing here matches
Now let this light surround you, you imposter in the East!
(Oh wait, crap, that effects Reverie too. is there any different placement then.. hm...)
(Any chance that can be J13 instead? Doesn’t hit an ally, catches things in the East (including known enemies).)
I was going to "bump" this thread, but since it is Memorial Day weekend, I figured I should give them a little more time.
For Jack's faerie fire spell, it won't affect Reverie. Jack moved to J6, so he is north and a bit east of her... You want the spell to cover L8, M9, and the area east of Jack, correct? With a 20' cube, you could do rows J,K,L,M and columns 7,8,9,10... Let me know if that is okay, or if you want it somewhere else.)

Trimyrai will not make any hostile actions while reverie is still trying to persuade the crazed dryad.
Trimyrai takes the dodge action for his turn.
(OOC: Trim has other targets besides the Dryad, if you want to change your action. The shambling mound to the north is approaching, and the "bear" that tried to use Eyebite on Isk is still up that tree.)

OOC- Sorry friends, this whole lock down thing has made finding time for various activities harder than before, even though i'm home all the time.
Isk will move towards the mound, he doesn't have enough movement to get him there so he'll go as far as he can before stopping and readying an action to strike.
Movement: To J4
Action: Ready glaive strike for when a hostile creature comes into his reach
(Hey, FYI that I’ve been fighting a migraine for a week now (and still am). So I’m pretty well unable to post most of the time. Feel free to npc me till I say I’m back))
For Froskan's action: He saw the "bear" at M9 disappear after it used Counterspell... He moves to M5, and pulls out his Lantern of Revealing, opening the shutter. A bright light illuminates in a 30' radius. You now see 3 "bears": up in the tree at L8, on the ground at M8, and on the ground at J9 approaching Jack.
With the magical light, you see that these are bear suits (like a mascot costume). There must have been an illusion earlier, because before they looked like real bears (although very skinny). Now they are old skins in ratty shape.
You also see that the bear costumes are being worn by 3 crones, ugly with diseased green skin. They were grinning earlier at the tricks they were playing on your group, but are unhappy now that they are exposed. Froskan yells out: "These aregreen hags. As long as three of them are together, they get extra magical power."
DEX saves vs. Jack's FF spell: 3, 15, 17
The hags on the ground are able to avoid Jack's spell. But the hag standing up in the tree (that still has an active Eyebite spell) is now covered in a blue light. Attacks against the hag at L8 will have Advantage. (But she is high enough to be out of melee range, although not out glaive range.)
(OOC: The hags are still up, and the mound. I'll post that a little later. Since Reverie and Trimyrai are still talking to the insane dryad, the dryad will remain confused this round.)

(Sorry about the delay.)
The hag up in the tree (at L8, glowing with Faerie Fire) still has Eyebite active, and glares at Reverie. WIS save vs. DC 13 or fall asleep: 25
Another hag moves to N6, to attack Froskan, Reverie, and Iskander with a Lightning Bolt. Froskan will decide to Counterspell.
The other hag that was east of Jack (but now visible due to Froskan's lantern) runs up to him. But instead of attacking right away, it starts mimicking Jack's voice. "Fire. Burn. Slash. Kill." Then the hag switches to the sweet girl voice you heard earlier: "Help! Help!"... You might not think it is a convincing performance, but it only has to inspire the insane (and hag-tortured) Dryad to action.
The shambling mound moves next to Isk and Jack. Iskander misses with his 2nd swing, but hits with the first. (Also gets a d6 for Hex: 2 necrotic.)
The mound will make two slam attacks against Iskander:
Attack1: 14 Damage: 12
Attack2: 26 Damage: 13

Starting round 3... initiative order: Dryad, the party (Froskan, Reverie, Trimyrai, Jack, Iskander), then the remaining foes
The shambling mound took 16 damage last round, and Iskander took 10 damage.
The green hag 15' up the tree (at L8) has an active Eyebite spell, and is glowing with Faerie Fire (your attacks have advantage).
The insane dryad, fooled by the hag mimicking Jack's voice (and pretending to be the Dryad's "sister") will attack next round.
The party is up. (Since Froskan goes first, his action will be to shake Reverie, who was put to sleep by the hag's spell. She can act normally, but is currently prone, and will need half her movement to stand up.)

Jack gives a glare at the nearby hag, as he gets ready to release a Spell. “I worked hard on my voice. My language, my words. It’s not yours to take!” he proceeds to follow up with a Hideous Beat cast on the Hag.
