Zaroc wildshapes into a swarm of rats and start crawling all over the guards. I attempt to do so without any of them (or anyone who would loyal to the city guards) noticing. I do not mean this to be an attack, either. More-so a diversion
Briar as the guards are busy... she will quietly seeks to walk out of the tavern through the front door. Then once outside, she will seek to casually make her way across the street to find a spot to watch the door to the tavern and those coming out if not now, then in a bit... putting her begging bowl on the ground and sitting down to play her Viol.
Briar gives the barbarian a worried smile, as she projects her thoughts so that only he can hear, 'please tell me you know where the old man is headed? I must find him, my twin-sister I think attempted to travel beyond and I must find out what the old man knows, please tell me where he went? But think it, don't speak we don't want anyone overhearing and telling the guards'
The White Wolf follows more slowly after the guards as they head for the tavern, feeling uneasy. When he finally reaches the door and spots the guards swarmed by rats, he stops dead in the door frame. Baffled, to say the least.
The guards frantically try to shake off the rats. The old man on the table fades to nothingness as the old man crouched by the bar quickly rises to his feat and dashes out of the tavern.
Hanzo briefly freaks out as this is the first time anyone has spoken to him telepathically then replies back using his thoughts only. “I am sorry for your sister but how do I know I can trust you? I too am seeking the truth about what lays beyond, more so out of curiousity than a noble goal. If you truly can be trusted I will help you with your quest to find your sister I’m sure it would be smart not to travel the unknown alone. We must keep walking while we speak I don’t want to rouse suspicion.”
hanzo begins to walk towards his meeting point with the old man but at a slow pace in case he decides Briar can not be trusted.
Briar looks at Hanzo and projects her thoughts back to him, 'fair enough if you will allow me to accompany you that works for me, when you see the old man, he will vouch for me, if you remember I was sitting with him before you sat down beside him and politely left to give you some privacy. Then... if you find that you feel that you cannot trust me, well you can decide what to do with me. I doubt a barbarian has anything to fear from a scrawny young urchin like me, right? So let's be off and I will do what I can to allay your fears or suspicions. My name, by the way, is Prudence but most just call me Briar.'Briar walks beside him... walking together if he looks closely the barbarian will note that Briar is totally unarmed and does not even carry a dagger or staff...
The White Wolf flings himself to the side of the door, squeezing back just in time to let the old man dash past. He looks out the door and back to the guards, hesitating. After a moment, he slips inside. Hopefully the wizard would be able to escape this time. Meanwhile, the Wolf begins mentally sorting his supplies, hoping he has enough herbs left to treat rat bites....
Hanzo thinks back to Briar “I’m Hanzo Kaze. I do recall that thank you for giving us privacy. I’m just not familiar with whatever this is. I just have a few questions for you that should help me make my decision. How are we speaking through our thoughts? Why do you believe your sister traveled beyond? And how did she accomplish this? Speak truthfully and I will do you the same honor.” Hanzo continues walking feeling a bit more comfortable with the telepathy thing but just a little.
Briar smiles and laughs, 'I am Hedge Witch trained in arcane and druidic lore at the Unseen Sanctuary, my patron is Yggdrasil one of the Great Old Ones whom I serve so from him I learned to speak with my mind, but if that is a bit much for you to take in then think of it as a magic telepathic tapeworm, Dwarves it seems like that explanation the best or so I have found. As for my sister, Willow, she was always interested in lore about the beyond but was never much my kind of thing so I don't really know much about it. She was researching it when she disappeared so I worry that she actually found a way to travel there, how or why I have no idea, I just want to find her!'
Hanzos spin shivers at the thought of a telepathic tapeworm... Hanzo thinks back to Briar “I would prefer to think of it in a more spiritual manor I you don’t mind, a greater being gave you a bit of their power similar to a cleric perhaps. I appreciate your honesty with me and as I promised I’ll do the same. As you know I too am interested in the beyond it’s why I spoke to the old man, I was once a crew member on a ship that was attacked by people claiming to be from the beyond... at first I didn’t believe them but then I saw their ship it was a strange design. After the mans outburst I saw an opportunity to speak with someone who may know more about the beyond maybe these people truly were from somewhere else. I do know where the old man is, he gave me a location to meet him at. I will take you with me, and after we speak with him I’d like to continue working together to go beyond. It may be too dangerous to go alone, and I know how to sail a ship which seems important to cross over.” *smirks at himself*

"What the ruddy hell is going on here?" Terrance shouts as he watches his new found friend fall off his stall and turn into a swarm of rats. "That is not normal!" He spins round to see 4 rat covered guards attempting to apprehend the old man who has appeared aflamed on the tabletop. Terrance sighs "This is not my day" He slips his warhammer from it's belt loop and lumbers towards what he is now sure is not just an old man but an old mage. "Sir, you need to put the magic down and ..." The man disappears. "What in the blazes?"
Terrance spins again looking for the mage. Perception 18
"This just keeps getting more interesting." is what goes through Ducolis mind as he sees the chaos in the tavern. "Lets see where this will end up." Ducolis pays for his drink and quietly exits the tavern. He will try and see if he can spot the air genasi leaving. Perception16 .If he sees him he will follow him stealthly. Stealth10.
Hesitating a moment, the White Wolf lies, "I, I didn't see. I was not quite expecting... all of this." He waves a hand, indicating the rats, the faded image of the old wizard, the old man dashing straight for him...
"The rats are probably another spell. Once they're sent away, we can check on the guards."
@Rasquin
A clumsy, possibly drunken dwarf nearly knocks you off your stool as he falls off of his and crashes to the floor.
Hanzo nods at the old man and turns towards the exit and begins walking hoping to leave without drawing the guards attention.
All 4 guards approach the old man on the table, barking orders with their hands on their swords, ready to draw them if they need to.
"You are under arrest by the order of Yarl Solaris Oakenheel. Extinguish your magic and step down peacefully and you will not be harmed."

@Terrance
You see the old mage dashing out the door, and the furry fellow from the market jump out of his way.
Terrance rushes towards the door and turns to the furry fellow "Which way did that old man go, quickly now before he gets away!"
