John decides to spend his time waiting by the campfire to start patching up his clothing from the previous fight with his weaver's tools. He then says to his party, "If anyone needs clothing re-sewn or fixed, please feel free to hand it over and I'll fix it for y'all.".
Looking up from his progressing wooden ship, Lumin answered, "Thanks for the offer John, I think I'm good for now. You know, Ma Mogul...she used to use tools like that. She would sew all these hidden pockets into her clothes...strange, really....I never could figure out why." With a quizzical scrunching of his nose, Lumin returns to his task with renewed focus.
Night falls quickly over your camp, and with it comes a chill breeze from the north. You huddle under blankets and vie for the sleeping areas closest to the fire as you attempt to combat the cold.
“I’ll take 2nd shift”, John says. “Hey Stan, if you see something, make sure to wake me up!”. John decides to move his bed roll next to the campfire and decides to fall asleep, making sure to put his bow within arms reach.
"Sounds good guys. Grungle you wanna take first watch with Stan? John and I can take the hard middle, as Uncle Jaro called it...actually that reminds me, when the Show traveller tough places, we'd either sit beck to back or across from each other, looking over each other's shoulders. Might be worth doing if we've got doubles. Zahim we'll wake you for last watch." (If everyone seems to be in accord, Lumin will roll over on the boat side of the fire and rest if possible--6 hours of widdling logged.)
The first two shifts pass uneventfully, and no sound can be heard but the lapping of the waves on the shore. On the third watch, however, when midnight looms and the world is still as death, all Hell breaks loose.
Could I get the Passive Perception of the two people on watch? (10 + WIS modifier + proficiency bonus if you are proficient in Perception)
John starts trembling in his sleep. He is haunted by the constant imagery of the dead fisherman that he killed, and the guilt has fully manifested into a nightmare. John wakes up from his nightmare rather abruptly. He has cold sweats running down his face, and decides to sit down by the water to try and compose himself.
Neither Hubert nor Zahim notice the slippery, fish-like beings until they are almost upon the unwitting adventurers. There are four of the creatures. Their pale skin reflects the moonlight and their black eyes glint with malice as they raise spears decorated with shells and seaweed above their heads.
Initiative!
(In the surprise round, only Hubert, Zahim, and the fish creatures will act.)

Leo awoke as Zahim began shouting. "Wazzhappening?" Bleary-eyed, he looked around at the strange fish people. As the realization hit him, he scrambled for his spear and shield, arming himself before the freaky fish guys could get to him.
