As he runs, Jebben says to Ellayne and Wander, "I fear this will be a tough bargain," he sucks in a breath, "the warforged mentioned they worked for a baroness," another breath, "hopefully she holds no favor with Trask," another gasp, "we should probably get our story refined before we arrive."
During the trip, Jebben will be collaborating with Wander and Ellayne (and anyone else who is coming) so that whoever does the talking to Trask will have help, and thus advantage for any rolls needed.
"I think for now we should sslo learn all the laws of this place. As with all cities I am sure there are some that are the legalized and then those of the illegal variety. I do not think that any of want to end up being imprisoned or sent back to our homeworlds after the trouble we went through to get here." Wander says as he raises a brow as he turns to Jebben to respond to his compliment. "If it was so something that truly bothered me I would have to say the only thing that is hurt would be my pride."
"Too true, Rustless Wonder, too true!" Jebben says between breaths. "I fear we might have acted," gasp, "a bit rash back at The Hot Chip!" Another breath. "Trask will sort it out, I pray."
"If that happens then I will be glad. If not we should make ourselves scarce." Wander says as he moves to walk in step with the gnome. The warforged does not seem to be to fond of the fact that they are talking like criminals.
(I'm assuming that she cast her spell before Silver and Gold backed down?)
Vostaria sighs. She would love to see the other side of this conflict. The mother might be coming this way! Although it sounds more like the guards are coming in her stead. Rather than be left behind, she follows the others to whom she has been attached by chance.
Dorstaer looks around at the others that remained at the tavern. "Well, now what? Guess theres not much to do but wait..."
If the owner comes back out from the back room where he took his daughter, Dorstaer says, "So tell me about the girl's mother. What's the story with you two?"
The barman comes back out after a few minutes in the backroom without Annie. He sits by the bar and invites you both over, pouring a spirit into three dirty shot glasses.
"We used to be happy together, back in Berdusk. A happy family. Annie was only little when we came over and she doesn't remember it. We had this.. accident, on the way through. Something in my wife changed. She started to obsess over this world, doing everything she could to 'improve' it. She was never home, leaving me to look after the little one. Eventually she cast me aside and the courts favoured her to look after Annie. She was given the title Baroness shortly after. I'm sure she was having an affair with someone high up. Anyway, not a lot I can do about it, no point appealing, and her thugs will just keep coming."
Vostaria / Jebben / Ellayne / Wander
You walk through the cobbled streets, the stars now crowd the sky above. Back toward the tavern, you can hear shouting and spot torchlight moving between the dark alleyways. You make your way to Rift-Hall, the evidence of an explosion still evident, although some effort has been made to clear it up. Six guards stand outside the main entrance chatting. They stop you and check your Identification Papers. Once clear, you're allowed in. Minister Trask is sat behind her desk, head in her hands buried in paperwork.
Wander stays quiet as he was not one of the ones that had tried to attack the other two warforged. For the most part he had been analyzing what he wanted to do, not sure if it was wise to attack them. He silently watched the dwarf as continued on with her paper work.
When the group enters the office, Jebben’s tone changes. He seems calm and stately, like an actor on a stage, ready to give a grand soliloquy. When he speaks, his manner is quiet and deliberate, a change from his usual rushed, rambling state. He politely removes his hat and holds it against his chest.
“Good evening, Minister.” He clears his throat and catches his breath, his voice projecting even stronger and more confidently. “We’re sorry to trouble you; I’m sure you’re very busy. We are in dire need of your help. We took your recommendation for The Hot Chip, and while we were there, two surly warforged, who claimed to be in the employ of one Ms. Hawksong, came in and created a scene involving a distraught little girl. When a few of us, concerned about the child, asked what was going on, the stone-clad cads flung insults and threats at us. A few of our number were, I believe, still a little raw from their valiant actions in today’s Rift Hall battle. Words were exchanged, and then it all came to blows; the warforged attacked us! Thankfully nobody was seriously hurt, but when the two ruffians withdrew, they threatened to fetch the city guard, and, well, I imagine this whole thing is a terrible misunderstanding. Could you please come help sort things out, or send someone of authority to look into it? As you know from today’s terror attack, our intentions are good and our actions noble; the last thing we were looking for in New Waterdeep was a bar-room scuffle with the locals, especially after the tiresome ordeal we’d already been through.”
The gnome smiles and steps back from the desk. “These three here can vouch for incident, and perhaps provide a bit more information.”
Ellayne skims through the surrounding as soon as they arrive at the Rift-hall. Guards are still working on the explosion, and yet the order has been settled quite well it seems. She could see the progress of this place. Her mismatched eyes shift her gaze away from the outside scene soon once the scenery changes into the office. Witnessing Minister Trask bury her face in the paper, Ellayne feels almost sympathy since Minister Trask has to do her job. She starts to listen to Jebben's fascinating explanation about what happened in the Hot Chip; then the memory shows the images of what had happened, beginning to worry about the girl and the bartender.
"The bartender was in devastate state when they forced to take the girl away from him while the girl started to cry in fear. The mother, Baroness Hawksong, is surely not capable of being a mother since she decided to leave her family before." A pause. "All I did was asking of why they have to take the girl so aggressively, and the one named Silver says the Baroness is the legal guardian and she entrusts a job of being a mother to them, which is something that I cannot understand about their reason to take the girl away." Ellayne, then, clears her throat a little. "Sorry for my rambling. I'm rambling a lot now... Anyway, after a short conversation, they started to pick up a fight with us. Also, they promised that they will be back in a threatening sense."

The barman slides the drinks over to you, having already necked his, he's pouring another.
"She ran away, with some help from a Minister in the government. Lady Hawksong is something of a violent woman, she used to be so kind. I'll probably end up dead in the morning for this. Gold and Silver are official constables, and having them attacked in my bar... well, who knows. The baroness never see's Annie, she's always being looked after by minders, which made it easier for her to slip away. I assume you're all new to New Waterdeep? There's a lot of conflict here, although, mostly daggers in backs rather than a frontal assault."
As the barman finishes downing his second shot, you hear boots on stone outside, there must be at least a dozen. Through the steamy window leading to the front of the property, torch light fills the alleyway. You see Gold, followed closely by Silver approaching the door.
"We didn't attack them!" Dorstaer exclaims. "They struck the first blows, we defended ourselves." He looks towards the back room. "Your daughter seems quite resourceful. Why does her mother want her back so badly if she just leaves the child to minders anyway?"
Wait, so how does she not respond? Like she didn't hear us the whole time? Or did she listen and is still engaged with us visually, and she's thinking or contemplating? Or did she listen, and then she just ignored us and went back to work? Or something else entirely?
