Prior to the bandit approaching Beegred, the voice of the leader echoes clearly to Beegred's position and can be heard saying, "A bona fide halfling boys, a surfacer like us. And he sounds addled like those others we crossed. Or he's talking some kind of code and wants our help? Or it's a trick. I'll give one extra share to whoever sticks their neck out for this little one and go see if he's trying to get saved by us."
Another voice responds, "I can go cast restoration and see if he snaps out of his funk, if it's that."
"Hey you bandit bastards! If you are trying to talk secretly, try not to shout at each other. And you don't save people by threatening to rob and kill them, you gang of dumbasses."
(Beegred is still Dodging, but he looks frustrated. He made himself a target, to allow the rest of his party to advance without facing a swarm of arrows, but these idiots are still talking instead of fighting. Why do none of Beegred's plans work the way they are supposed to?)

Not quite ready to be the first to attack, Narstin instead blesses Beegred, himself, and Eldeth, then steps forward behind the dodging halfling (To M9)
The man facing Beegred holds out his hands non threateningly and begins to say, "Hey little one, I'm not going to hurt you. This might help..." Then, as Narstin shows up behind (moves to M9), the man whispers, "Is that one of those underdark dwarves? Is it keeping you hostage?" With a sudden movement, he tries to put his hand on Beegred...
Touch (disadvantage): 6
... but in his nervousness, he misses as Beegred avoids the touch. The man retreats back down the tunnel and says as he passes, "Nope! Little one is not alone."
(Beegred could use an attack of opportunity against the retreating human.)

Then, as Narstin shows up behind (moves to M9), the man whispers, "Is that one of those underdark dwarves? Is it keeping you hostage?" With a sudden movement, he tries to put his hand on Beegred...
Jimjar saunters up the tunnel from his position and speaks telepathically to Beegred, who seems to be taking control of the situation, "Offer the human a wager. I will fight him one on one. If I win, we pass. If he wins, we pay. What do you say?"
Tozer grips the maul in his hands causing the leather of the handle to noisily tighten around the haft and centers himself in the rage he armors himself with to fight, then moves up next to Beegred.
Beegred briefly sees a human shape dash from cover to cover, moving up closer to the bandit leader.
Eldeth nocks an arrow in her bow (ready action) and communicates telepathically, "Best be dealing with this, I be getting low on arrows and there be more dangerous beasties in the underdark."
The leader belts out, "A hill dwarf, you say? And a halfling. And you're trying to get back to the surface? Sounds a lot like you came down here to get rich like us and you're looking to get out now with all that wealth. Your journey down here is ending, ours has only begun and started badly. You're wealthy, we're poor. How about we pool all that wealth, split it into shares divided properly by rank, and all get out of this hole together?"

Narstin begins to laugh. "You keep talking about our wealth," he says through the laughter. "What was the first clue? The hand-painted symbol on my shield, from home-made paint? Our torn, ragged, and filthy clothes? The weapons scrounged from wherever we could get a hold of them? The complete lack of backpacks or other ways to carry said wealth?" He smirks as he starts to pull get himself back under control. "We have no wealth," he says seriously. "But we WILL get back to the surface. If we have to go through you to get there, so be it. But I would recommend you get out of our way and go find some actual wealth to steal if that's what you're here for. All you will find from a fight is disappointment or death."
From farther back in the bandits group you hear a slight commotion and in the flickering lamp light you see the outline of a rather large being moving forward towards where you suspect the bandit leader to be hiding. You can also hear what sounds like the low rumble of thunder in the distance but as the figure gets closer to the bandit leader you can hear a deep baritone gravelly voice
".....tired of following you. You wouldn't know your butt from a hole in the ground and to be honest I'm not sure which one we've crawled in to."
then you hear a few of what sounds like wet meat slapping against stone as the shadowy figure repeatedly raises and lowers one of their arms. They turn and seem to be addressing the rest of the bandits hiding in the rocks.
"I'm done with this snipe hunt, we have been wandering around here lost for way too long with nothing to show for it. I would rather take my chances with that ragtag lot over there..." and they point in the direction of the rest of the players. "than continue to follow this rothe....If anyone has a problem with that then try and stop me."
And with that they heft a large maul upon their shoulder, reaches down and grabs a pack of supplies and starts walking towards the halfling and the rest of the party.
As the large dragonborn walks away from the unconscious leader, the man that had approached Beegred shoots to his feet yelling hysterically, "Did you kill him!?" He rushes to the leader and immediately muttering and magic can be heard and felt emanating from behind the stalactites. "That's right, leave you faithless coward. More profits for the rest of us, right guys?"
Out of the four remaining bandits, three make their way to stand around their prone leader, one saying, "We'll be laughing the whole way back to the surface after we clean out that tomb. You go hang out with those addled in the head small folk too poor to even pay a coin for passage!" The other men halfheartedly give their affirmation. There's a lot of bravado, but desperation and fear can be heard as well.
Behind, one more member of the bandit party stands, hesitant and watching the exchange...
There indeed is another figure who took a couple of quick steps forward when the large man did, but stopped upon seeing he didn't get there in time to stop what was happening. He is shaking his head in resignation.
"Krizz, that is no way to thank a man for taking the burden of leadership upon his shoulders! He may have his faults, but I firmly believe that he did the best he could with the resources available to him."
He's actually following the large fellow a few steps behind, paying no mind that they may be heading directly into an attack.
"Didn't your mother not teach you to not call people names? Besides, what's wrong with rothe? I've only ever met one, but he.. or she.. was very friendly. Too friendly to be honest."
He is now all the way out of his original group, looks back suddenly and shrugs, "I mean I see potential in him, but he has no discipline!" And with a very worried look, "I do hope that you find the tomb and the way out."
The figure is a small bald gray man with no visible weapons, but just a book sticking out of his backpack. He's very obviously old, but still has some vitality left in him.
...one saying, "We'll be laughing the whole way back to the surface after... "
"What do you mean, 'will be'. You already are. It would be easier if you just called yourselves the Clown Bandits!"
Beegred is intrigued by the mention of "cleaning out a tomb". There might be equipment the party could use.
But first, these two people nearby need to be watched. Even if they aren't spies for the bandits, they could be like that homicidal fanatic derro Buppido, or that demon-crazed drow they recently met.

The large dragonborn slowly turns back towards the bandits and drops the pack on the ground.
"Rudolfo, get behind me...." and he'll plant his feet and lower the maul down off his shoulders and gives it a few test swings while watching his former companions and then he says over his shoulder "nothing is wrong with rothe, they are quite tasty when roasted."
The bald old gnome says towards the new people, "Is there a way to go back to where you came from and take a different route? I fear that once Fanuco comes to then there is no way to avoid bloodshed."
He takes a quick inventory of the group he just walked in to.. that seems to be a mixed lot. Very very mixed.
Krizz takes a stand at the narrowest point of the tunnel, blocking it. Rudulfo behind Krazz looks at what he hopes are his new companions and sees a halfling flinging insults back, a dwarf bearing a shield with a crudely painted dwarvish emblem (Narstin can elaborate on what it looks like), another dwarf twisting both his hands on the haft of a maul, teeth grinding and yet another dwarf further back up on a shelf, longbow half drawn, watching intently.
(With little skill in art himself, and limited supplies on hand, the emblem on the shield is a simple painting of two intertwined rings (the symbol of Barronar Truesilver)
"Not much to go back to where we came from. And we're currently trying to go the opposite way anyway." He looks at the remaining bandits, then back around at the party. "There's only 3 of them left," he says, "plus the leader when he wakes up. It'd be suicide for them to attack us right now. Why don't we just go that way," he points past the bandits, "as we were planning. If they follow us after he wakes, it won't be any easier or more difficult to follow us down that path than if we go back and find a different route."

You are right behind Beegred and the cave causes some echoes, so yes, you hear the whispering.

"Of course you want to split based on rank... you smell the worst out of all of us!" Beegred laughs out loud at his great wit.
