Glynquinal looks over to Ian and the others quickly, "Ian, let's retrieve this poor soul and pay the ransom then." Undoing the pouch on his belt, Glynquinal unties it so that he can retrieve the 'gold' easily. He then moves forward to meet the captive, and his handlers.
Gruxx will wait until Glynquinal and Bayak get within about five feet of each other and then he will step out to the side of the group to either accomplish a goal or prove a distraction to keep Bayak from killing the prisoner. Gruxx will snarl with eyes staring harshly at Yeemik. Gruxx with Klarg's head on his will slowly begin walking toward the goblins hoping to be in clear view of the Goblins.
Gruxx will chastise full of anger directly in Goblin to let the Goblins know he understands them, "Yeemik, you are a yella' meat sack!"
Gruxx will then switch to common now that he has the attention of the Goblins. "You think yur fit to be a chieftain' now?!"
Gruxx will snatch the gooey Klarg hat off his head and hold it out in front of him. "You let a weak bugbear have dominion over your clan! Over your people!" Gruxx spits at the ground.
Gruxx then gestures to Bayak, "And now you send your warrior into danger instead of doing it your dang self!"
Gruxx addresses the crowd, "And yes! That other bugbear is going to send another to rule over ya! And guess what will happen, Yeemik will roll over and let them abuse you because he is weak and no chieftain! I once had a chieftain that was a sandstonin' coward like yours. Kill him now and put some one in charge who cares about his people more than there self!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: I gotcha! Didn't catch the ruse until you explained it to me. Now ... what to do about Gruxx's throwing down the gauntlet? You all are so imaginative. Yeah, I think we've got ourselves a surprise round.
As Gruxx finishes his speech, Yeemik yells (a bit spastically), "Attack!" in the goblin tongue. The human's guard immediately rams his scimitar into the human's side. As the human falls forward with a muffled grunt, a volley of arrows come shooting from behind him over his collapsing body across the bridge.
Three arrows soar through the air with Glynquinal as their target. But, due to either the fact that the archers were trying to avoid hitting the back of the falling old man, or to some other reason, their aim is off, and the elf watches as all three of the projectiles fly to his right, clattering off the rock wall harmlessly. The old man out of the way, the others can see that there are six goblins in total: Bayak (blue) on the bridge, the one which just skewered the old man (red) 10 feet behind it, and the final three (yellow, black and green) wielding shortbows. The one in the center, despite its green skin, is very red faced. It's pretty apparent this (orange) one is Yeemik.
Round 1: Ian, Rock, Yeemik, old man (unconscious; 0 saves/0 fails), HDP, Gruxx, goblin lackies, Glynquinal
Ian, you're up!
Keep in mind: Glynquinal is over six foot. You're under five foot. I'm going to give all of the goblins 1/2 cover from your current position (since you're going to have to shoot around your friend). You could move to P4 or O5. Not that it really matters here, but moving through an ally (Glynquinal) is difficult terrain, so it uses 10 feet of movement to leave the space the ally is in. And you can never stop moving (to act or to end your turn) while occupying the same space as a conscious ally or enemy. I generally make allowances for spaces occupied by unconscious (or dead) bodies.
OOC: It looks like at least a couple of you hit the long rest button. Understandable, but please remember to wait until I instruct you to hit the long rest button. If I post something about "After you all wake up ..." then it would also be safe to hit it. But you never know when something is going to interrupt your hours of rest and you don't get the benefits of a long rest. Looking back at the last notes from the last battle and then the posts since then, this is what I believe everyone's HP should be: Ian, 5/9; Rock, 13/13; HDP 10/10; Gruxx 14/14; and Glynquinal, 6/9. Glynquinal, your misty step resets with a short rest, so you're good on that. Gruxx, you didn't hit the long rest button, so your rages are accurate (thank you). Same with your bardic inspiration and spells, HDP (thank you as well). Ian, you don't have any slots to worry about. And Rock, your breath weapon, which you used, resets with a short rest, and you had not yet raged, so your slots are good to go as well. Any questions?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC, I hit the short rest button because I thought you said to go ahead and hit that one. Do I need to post that roll here? 9
Ian will use his elf speed to run back the direction they came (35 feet should get me R7-S7-T7-T6-T5-S4-R4) and will post up trying to half hide in the little alcove in the rock wall, and shoot and arrow at Bayak. As he turns around to run in between HDP and Gruxx, he says to HDP Dont let him die. and gives him Ian's healing potion.
OOC, looking back through the notes, I couldnt find where you said to roll a short rest die, however, a short rest is at least one hour, and a long rest is 8 hours (4 for me as an elf). You said after a few hours, Glenquenal was awoken, so at minimum I would argue that Ian gets a short rest hit die roll, and at best (depending on how many hours) Ian would actually get a long rest - so I will leave that to you as DM I suppose...
OOC: Don't have time to react to your attack right now (need to get back to work), but I will say that, yes, everyone was allowed to take a short rest. And if you still have hit dice to use, you may. But all rolling should be done here or in a PM to me. I need to see the rolls. No rolling with real dice at home and just saying you did it.
OOC: Sorry! I forgot to come back last night, but here we go ...
Ian moves around (vacating Q6), handing a potion to Herr Doktor on his way by (bonus action), and down the stairs, ending up splashing back through the stream. As the bridge and Bayak come into view (from R4), the rogue fires an arrow at the (blue) goblin. It pierces the creature's side, causing moderate damage.
OOC2: You can't hide from where the goblins are/will be in that space.
Rock you're up!
You also have the option of moving to P4 or O5, using 15 feet of movement to do so. You cannot move past the blue goblin. As your DM, I would suggest you rage. However, you need to keep in mind that a rage lasts for 10 rounds (1 minute) and ends early if you are knocked unconscious or if your turn ends and you haven't attacked a hostile creature since your last turn or taken damage since then.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: Note about critical fails and successes (rolling a 1 or a 20): White it is not RAW (rules as written) that in 5e rolling a 20 is an automatic success and rolling a 1 is an automatic fail, I choose to observe those optional rules. Further, if you roll a 1 on an attack, I use fun (in my opinion) critical fumble tables (located here) to add to the humor of what happens when a critical fail is rolled. If you know you have rolled a critical fail on an attack, you may choose to go ahead and check the chart and make the subsequent rolls to determine what happened, or you can leave it up to me. In the case of Rock, he was making a melee weapon attack, so I'll roll a d20 (13) and the result falls under "10-14. Slip Up. You lose your footing. Roll Dexterity / Acrobatics check (DC15) or fall prone. Your turn has ended and melee attacks have advantage on you (see p292 of PH for conditions of being prone)." So, now I will roll for an athletics check for him (d20+5: 18). Since he didn't make the DC (15), the critical fumble chart says he falls prone and that's the end of his turn (he can't use the rest of his movement to get back up). So, now I get to narrate the scene.
OOC2: As for adding rage mods: Yes, please remember to add your rage bonus to attacks when raging. At this level, it will be +5 instead of +3 to your greataxe attack. And if you're raging and I forget to give you advantage on STR checks and saving throws or forget to half bludgeoning, piercing, and slashing damage, please let me know.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Despite his size, Rock is able to smoothly slide by the stunned Glynquinal, a fiery rage blossoming in his belly. The dragonborn draws his greataxe and yells, "Die, scum!" As he swings, Ian's arrow lands in the (blue) goblin's side, causing it to bend over in pain. Rock's axe flies over the gobin's bowed head, and the barbarian's momentum, combined with the slickness of the bridge's old and wet wood, causes Rock to lose his footing. With an involuntary "Oof!", he goes down on his back.
OOC: Given the bridge takes up less than have of the square, I'm going to roll a save. Since athletics is higher, I'll roll athletics again (DC12): 11
Luckily, Rock keeps his whits about him enough to throw out an arm and keep himself from sliding off the edge of the bridge.
Yeemik yells, "Kill them all!" Drawing his scimitar, the (orange) goblin swings at the old man's prone form. (Attack: 11) The scimitar rends a deep cut across the man's exposed chest, which gushes blood. (Attacking an unconscious character counts as a death saving throw failure: the old man has 0 saves and 1 fail. Three saves means they're stabilized with 0 hp; three fails means they are dead.)
The old man's turn: Death saving throw (0-9 is a fail; 10-20 is a save): 16
"Verdammt," the Herr Doktor Professor mutters to himself.
The fallen human needs his healing magic, but fatigue and the stress of the previous battle weigh heavily on his mind. He tries to call the words of power to him, but they dance away. If only he'd been able to rest a few hours more ...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Realizing there is no other choice, he steels himself for what must be done.
He calls outs in the Goblin tongue: "Listen to Gruxx, slayer of Klarg, not to Yeemik the coward! Do not attack us -- and we can make a deal when Yeemik is dead!" (Free Action)
He moves 10 feet to P5, then makes an Acrobatics check to try and and tumble past Bayak to N4. He will use his Inspiration token to roll with advantage: 17
If he succeeds, he will use his standard action to administer the healing potion to the fallen human.
If he fails to tumble past Bayak, he will pull back to Q6, in the hopes that Gruxx and Glynquinal can take down Bayak and clear the way next round. He will use his standard action to cast Vicious Mockery on Yeemik instead: 3 damage.
That will be the end of the Herr Doktor Professor's turn.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
OOC: My initial reaction is "No, you can't 'tumble past' Bayak." Goblins are small creatures. Rock, Glynquinal and the (blue) goblin are all on the bridge. How would that even work without you bowling the goblin over? Then, I thought, "Maybe he could push Bayak off the bridge instead." But it takes an action to shove a creature, so then you wouldn't be able to feed a healing potion to the old man. So then, I think, "If it's small, maybe he can leap over it." Given the spending of an inspiration point and the desire to be selfless (gaining the DM's favor), and the general physicals and rules for jumping, I'm going to say ...
Without hardly disturbing them at all, Herr Doktor smoothly moves past both Glynquinal and Rock and deftly leaps over Bayak. All the while, he is encouraging the goblins to choose a different leader. Landing like a cat (in N4), the bard bends down, feeds a healing potion to the old man (he regains 7 hp), then stands back up (you have the option of staying down/prone if you prefer; just let me know). He is now surrounded by goblins!
OOC: You might want to check your purse. You have three gold, one silver and 42 copper.

Kill him now and put some one in charge who cares about his people more than there self!"
OOC: Glynquinal has NO intention of paying out any coin, but the caltrops and ball bearings still jingle like coin would.
DM rolls — #1: 36 — #2: 33 — #3: 6 — #4: 25 — #5: 55 — #6: 6 — #7: 25 — #8: 13
Don't post anything yet. Round 1 hasn't begun. I need the results of these rolls to begin combat.
OOC: LOL! So much for the surprise round.
