"I'm fine that happens sometimes. It's only some painful memories that I keep remembering" replies Maegan. "Sometimes I wish I could just forget them."
Like a glass falling and breaking, Maegan's scream startled Cora out of her daydream. "Hells on a STICK." she barks, her combat instinct forces her hand to slap onto her blade holster. "What! Gods, you scared me."
The funny thing was..Cora knew exactly how she felt.
"I think we should start doing this properly and hopefully we can get this over with and fast." Shen goes down to the small landing at the end of the staircase.
"Alright." Cora said, her heart rate back to normal - helping to hold everyone together. "Let's stay frosty, and focused. Keep it right, keep it tight, keep it crispy."
Perzival: As you place your hand on the glyph, your magic confirms everything Cora shared with you about the glyphs is correct. You can feel the stream of magic reaching deep down underground following the passage. You sense evocation magic... and also necromancy.

Shen:At the bottom of the steps, a ten-foot landing and an open archway lead into an ancient temple dusted with cobwebs and sand. You are clearly the first people to set foot here in many many years.
Dimensions: This room is 60 ft long and 30 feet wide
What you can see from the entrance: There is a deep sand drift covering the first ten feet of the temple’s floor. Two rows of pillars mark the approach across the temple to a raised dais, sixty feet away, against the eastern wall. Upon the dais stands an altar of black stone. Two rounded alcoves in the north wall (to your left) each house an imposing statue of the jackal headed god Anu-Akma.
The south wall (on your right) has matching alcoves, but one of the alcoves and the statue inside were obliterated in a partial collapse of the ceiling long ago. The northwest corner of the temple (the corner closest to you on the left) has likewise fallen into rubble.
The bands of glyphs from the entrance continue along the walls of the sanctuary. More glyphs mark the black altar. The back wall of the sanctuary is decorated with relief carvings depicting a regal figure, who must be the pharaoh Menet-Ka, being guided by Anu-Akma.

After his suspicions of the glyphs and now Maegan's scream, Erok is doubly alert. He follows the others down the steps and into the tomb, trying to remember if he ever learned anything about Menet-Ka during his time with Master Lau.
Maegan you can also make a history check if you'd like.
Erok: You know that Menet-Ka was a pharaoh and from what you remember you think he lived over a thousand years ago. The historical records you've seen don't have much information about him at all. The fact that this temple seems to genuinely be his tomb is a rare find indeed!
Cora: Yeah with that roll you are coming up dry on any historical information.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Erok nods in agreement with Cora’s words. “If the tomb is like others, there may be traps and/or hidden passages.” He will look carefully around to see if anything seems odd or out of place. “It appears we may be the first to enter, so caution is definitely needed.”
Maegan: You learn a bit more information. You know that Menet-Ka ruled this area about 2,000 years ago and that he was a powerful warrior. He brought several smaller kingdoms in the area under his control.
Erok: (Whoo crit!!) You carefully walk around the chamber, not even the smallest detail overlooked. There are a few items buried under cobwebs on the altar; looks like a cup and some jewelry. You'd have to clear the cobwebs away to get a closer look.
The carving on the back wall of Menet-Ka and Anu-Akma strikes you as odd in a few ways. First of all, one of Menet-Ka's arms extends out from the carving and you almost instantly see that it is a lever. It's well concealed, but it looks like the whole back wall can rise upward and potentially lead further inside.
The other oddity is about the contents of the carving. It looks like... Anu-Akma is bowing to Menet-Ka? It is unsettlingly blasphemous.
As you are examining the back wall, you catch movement behind the nearest statue of Anu-Akma. Two spectral creatures float forward with mournful moans!

Lilyth was startled at first when she heard Maegan scream bloody murder, however her nerves cooled when the cause was brought to light. Her mouth stayed shut when the Air Genasi admitted to wishing to forget things, not wanting to start something within the group, and instead she kept her eyes wide with awe. She knew for a fact she didn't know squat when it came to the history of this place (assuming whatever she knew was probably back in her forgotten past), but regardless the small bits that the others admitted to knowing she would attempt to keep stored in her mind. She couldn't always stop to write in her journal for everything, especially now in the tomb.
However upon hearing awful moans emit from behind her, she turned with her shield and sword already in hand.

Perzival reaches out and casts identify on the glyphs
Wasif releases the handle of his blade and his jovial merchant's smile replaces the fear that was there moments ago.
"Ah, I see. We all have difficulties we must deal with in this life, but let us keep our minds on the task at hand yes?"
Those with a passive insight of 15 or higher gain the information in the spoiler below
Wasif is quite irritated at being startled for (as he sees it) no reason, but is trying to conceal it to keep things in the group running smoothly.
(He did not roll super great on that deception check -_- )

She barely noticed it in time. Looks like Lilly and Shen were caught off guard as well. Cora drew out her two short sword, ready for the shadows.
"Be on guard! Undead!" she yelled out, and stood in front of Lilly.
