Yes, as Air Genasi you can hold your breath indefinitely as long as you are conscious. You can decide to start holding your breath, but at that point you won't be able to speak without losing it and having to take another breath. (I've put some thought into how this will work, let me know if it doesn't seem fair.)

I will catch up with you about the hieroglyphics, but there are other members of the party where this air thing is going to be a problem and I want to give them a chance to act.

Cora:  You aren't able to make any connection between the statue and the mural. You can see however that the mural depicts Menet-Ka as a young pharaoh just ascending his throne. Crowds of people cheer as he is crowned.

Lilyth gasps, the air around her suddenly getting hard to breath in. She covers her nose and mouth with her hand and tries reading the words on the walls.

Then, she’s going to try and figure out what making the air so hard to breathe (gas, magic?).

Lilyth: You've been watching Shen closely and you're certain you can work out what this last inscription says... you just need a minute..

Lilyth and anyone else who would like can give me a regular intelligence check to try and figure out why it's so hard to breathe.

Lilyth: You take a moment to think. Is it poison? Magic? You don't see any vents and Maegan didn't detect any magic in the room. You watch the flames in the huge brazier in the center of the room flicker and almost go out and it hits you.

You're all suffocating. When the stone fell and blocked the entrance to the tomb, it also cut off your supply of air. And not only are the seven of you using up the air supply, all this fire is eating it up too!

Cora, covering her mouth, gives Lilly an enthusiastic thumbs up, points to the fire, and makes a slash mark across her neck.

I walk over and kick over the braisers and take out the torches.

Lilyth nods at Cora, watching Shen taking out the braziers, she goes over to Wasif and blows out the lantern.

Shen: The large brazier in the center of the room is welded to the floor and can't be knocked over, but you do easily smother all the flames. You quickly move to all the torches and put them out as well. 

Lilyth: You put out Wasif's lantern. As long as you are able to provide magical light he won't protest.

(Well done guys, you were a minute of game time away from making constitution saves, but with all that fire out you've bought yourselves more time!)

Anyone with a passive perception higher then ten hears a soft hissing sound coming from the extinguished torches and brazier.

"Nice work, guys." Cora compliments. "Do you hear that hissing? There's a gas source providing fuel for these fires. Erok, didn't you find some valves? Do they have handles? Can we turn them? It may be a shut off valve."

"I'm pretty sure Erok found it, where did you find those valves?"

Erok will immediately return the the panel with valves, and start turning them to see if he can turn off the source for the gas. 

Maegan will be doing nothing because she can’t do much on the investigation side so instead she tries to relax trying not to think about the spectres previously fought while also trying to be as quiet as possible.

Erok: You turn the valves and the hissing sound stops. Looks like the fires were being fed by some kind of flammable gas but you cut it off.

Shen & Lilyth: Once things settle down you are able to quickly finish your translation work.

You've stopped all the fires, but the air still feels thick in your lungs... there must be a way forward...

While obvious to some, Cora stood there for a moment and tried to think of what the words might mean. She hated riddles. She was better at stabbing.
