The half-orc marauder roars with frustration as the weight of the portcullis defeats him, and he snarls in barely contained fury while glaring at the obstruction dangerously. He clutches at his greataxe and grips the weapon tightly, obviously contemplating inflicting grievous structural damage to the thing. The lust for battle gleams in his dark, kohl-rimmed eyes and saliva dribbles from the tusked corners of his mouth as he literally salivates with anticipation of the kill. Humphry's voice cuts through the violent haze of Dagon's thoughts however, and the warrior turns in acknowledgement of the gnome's words.
"Yes, little hunter." The half-orc rumbles, "Good idea." Readying his own greataxe nearby, the hulking marauder turns and fetches the heavy, ugly greataxe used by the Orog before it's demise. Hefting the weapon, Dagon returns to the portcullis and plants his feet firmly shoulder width apart, raises the weapon high above his head, and with a savage cry of aggression begins slamming it into the wooden structure. His intention is to break an opening into the barricade that he and his companions, even potentially Kic in his bear form, could pass through.

The portcullis shatters under Dagon's powerful blow, allowing access to the large stone room beyond. On the south wall lies the remains of the wooden portcullis, an archway, and a door. Doors stand opposite each other on the east and west walls. A stack of rotting wooden crates stands against the west wall, and a pierced breastplate lies in the north side of the room.
Without warning an arrow flies from a hidden compartment in the north wall, taking Dagon in the chest. Attack: 18 Damage: 4
Dagon has less than a moment to savor the satisfaction of the portcullis yielding to his power before something strikes him hard in the chest, stealing his breath and causing a searing flare of pain to pulse through his torso.
"Raaagh!" The half-orc bellows, and looks down to see the arrow sticking out from his chainmail. Snarling in anger, the marauder reaches up and snaps the haft of the arrow and drops the remnants on the floor before raising his eyes again to survey the room. He knew the party's enemy was in here somewhere... lurking... waiting to pounce. He scanned the area carefully and sniffed the air aggressively, hunting for the scaled hunter.

Still scanning the room as if expecting to be attacked any moment, Dagon kicks some pieces of debris out of his way and carefully makes his way toward the north wall where he sees the pierced breastplate lying on the ground. Strange thing to be alone, the warrior thinks to himself. He edges closer to the armor but doesn't touch it yet, rather he squats down about an arm's length from it and peers at it closely as well as the immediate area surrounding it on the floor. The half-orc tries to inspect the metal to perhaps determine it's quality, the level of craftsmanship, or see if he can discern what happened to it's former owner.

Lurching his head up from the crates, static causing a few bits of rotten straw to cling to his bald pate, "Well, a-a-a-alright, just thought that beast was m-m-more of a priority."
Humphry goes over to inspect the south and eastern(or western, which ever side we didn't come in through) doors.

"I believe the beast left for the moment but he may return. If we continue through one of these doors we may be able to avoid the fight and leave the beast for our competition to deal with." Kic says and will try to open the southern door quietly and peek in.
Hearing Kic and Humphry conversing, Dagon will turn his attention from the breastplate back to his companions and move to join them. The hulking warrior's chainmail armor jingles as he strides over and he still casts his dark gaze around the room suspiciously, but seems to be in the process of shifting his focus back to the group's potential courses of action.
"You speak wisely, little hunter. I would still consider that beast a priority, if only because it is now wounded and angered and clever enough to remember who wounded it. It will be stalking us, as sure as any predator hunts it's prey. We must keep our senses alert for it's presence, but neither can we let ourselves be distracted from our primary quarry. The other packs of hunters still roam these halls, and it is them we must conquer."
The marauder glances at the doors Humphry has been inspecting. "South would take us back to where we came, and that room was surrounded by foes. Perhaps we should stalk east?"
Kic opens the southern door to reveal yet another door behind it. Beyond this door you can hear the mumbling voices of innumerable foes that Humphry warned you of earlier.
The breastplate appears common and nondescript. A faded insignia on the front bears the image of a white dove.
Humphry consider's the half-orc's words, "Yes, we should n-not get d-d-d-distracted" He turns and looks towards the archway the beast seems to have escaped to. "Though we should check that room, s-s-s-see if it's c-c-c-cornered."

It appears the dragon has vacated the premises, judging by the clawmarks on the ground leading through the open archway.

lol, with that nat 1, Dagon is still PoSiTiVe! that the wyrmling is in the room! He's just hiding really well!
Kic also scans the room trying to find where the arrow came from.

"It's a trap" Kic says.
A section of the northern wall has opened to accommodate the release of the arrow.

Investigation Check on the breastplate: 4
Humphry cannot determine the original occupants of the wooden crates. All that remains is moldy straw.
Dagon scans the breastplate and comes to the conclusion that the metal was pierced by a sharp implement. (Sorry, a 4 doesn't cut it. :P)

Kic will go over to the door and look over towards Humphry "Would you inspect it for traps?"

(You came in through a third southern door)
The two wooden doors are free of traps.
