The two ships slowly come together, and the crew of The Blade of Saint Martius lifts up a hooked gangplank to extend across.
Soon enough, a tall man in officers clothing briskly walks up the rickety piece of wood along with four soldiers, He calls out, "Who is in charge here?"
Respar is sitting near the bow, with a slightly annoyed look on his feet. He waves and beckons to the captain. When the man approaches he shakes his head and mutters aloud, "This is unbelievable." He looks at the captain and says softly, "Are you out of your mind? Did you misunderstand your orders? Or..." A look of understanding appears on his face. "Oh, I understand. Your men aren't aware, so this is a big show for them. Very clever, captain. You make it look as if we've been investigated for the benefit of the crew, and we'll be on our way. A nice touch. I'll be sure to mention your stratagem to Sir Balin. Nicely done." He looks less annoyed than before, maybe with a touch of admiration thrown in. Inside, Respar is keeping his hands ready to draw the rapier...
The captain looks unamused, and his hand moves to the hilt of his sword, "I have been given no unusual orders concerning anything involving the witchhunters, nor concerning any ship passing through these waters. Do you have any documentation to back up your claim, or shall we skip the song and dance and move on to where I put you all in chains?"
Martha elegantly steps out to see all the commotion. Her necklace bears the holy symbol of Mitra openly. She waves her hand and shakes her head as she addresses the captain, "There's no need for that. I apologize on behalf of my friend here, we meant no offense. What he says however is true, we are on a secret mission on orders from Sir Balin of Karfeld. There is no documentation as this was to strictly be off the record. Oh, I'm sorry where are my manners, my name is Martha Rose. What is your name captain?"
Some of the tension goes out of the man's form, but he does not remove his hand from his sword, "I am Captain Sambryl Lady Rose. Secret or not, whomever gave orders for such a thing should have anticipated that you would be stopped in these waters. Tell me everything you can, if I am not satisfied, I am afraid I will have to escort you to port while your story is verified."
"A pleasure, Captain Sambryl. Listen, I can't give you all the specifics, but surely you've heard the rumors of the danger mobilizing in the North, have you not? We aren't sure who we can trust right now during these critical times and this mission is of utmost importance." Then, she raises her right hand, "I swear on on behalf on our radiant Lord Mitra, Captain."
Jesla turns away to hide a smirk. These self righteous Mitras. She hated them so much. Anger begins coursing through her veins as she thinks of her brand. Hopefully the Mitrans wouldn't believe them so they could kill all of them. She casually examines the opposition planning out her moves if combat begins.
Kiven watches and listens as Eya and Respar try to talk their way through this. The Prince despises all such games, as he prefers plain talk and truth, regardless of who doesn't want to hear it. He also knows that is why no one likes him, but all will learn to appreciate his viewpoint soon enough. For now the elf puts his acuity into taking measure of the Mitran ship, the number of guards on it, the number who have moved to the Frosthamar, their armor and weapons, the height of their ship's deck relative to the cargo pile on the Frosthamar, etc.
OOC: Just in case it is relevant on Kiven taking note of any of the relevant details mentioned above in preparing for a fight: Perception: 23
Captain Sambryl looks at "Martha" for a time, then slowly says, "I want the name of your contacts. Believe me, I will be checking, and if they have not heard of this, an alarm will be going up, and you will be hunted down."

Martha's expression turns deathly serious, "A pity, so much time and effort wasted."
She snaps her fingers and a hell hound appears on the other boat as she disappears in a puff of ash and smoke. The hound burns as many of the men on the boat as it can, torching the wood of the boat as well.
Summon Hell Hound on their boat. It is going to burn as many of the men and will also torch the boat itself in the process. Dimensional Slide as movement to get out of melee. Once the battle map is updated, I will give an exact position for her.

Kiven watches as things grow tense and even their best case scenario on the diplomacy is less than ideal. As Eya jumps into action Kiven flips his bow up from the deck with his toe and looks down at the hiding ogre to say "Grumblejack, SMASH!"

Jesla grins in anticipation of the upcoming battle. Hearing Eya she knows that the time for deception is over. " Chains. Me in chains...." Rage consumes her and where an older woman stood an angry looking tiger stands. She roars in fury and jumps towards the other boat. The tiger bites at the nearest crewman.

Eya reappears behind some of the boxes of cargo a few feet behind. With her back against the crate, she reaches for more of that grease from her bag with her tail. Then, she looks round the corner briefly and yells, "Blue men are here, Grumblejack! Snowflake, stay hidden."
She rubs the grease between her hands as she mutters the incantations of a familiar spell. A ten foot puddle of slippery grease appears underneath the captain and his three men.
Meanwhile, on the patrol ship, the hound seems satisfied with the flame breath and continues it's assault by lunging to bite one of the nearby men with it's fiery maw.
Eya will cast Grease on squares I8, I9, J8, and J9. The targets need to make a DC 18 Reflex save or fall on their butts. Using another alchemical power component here to bump the DC by 1 again. Eya will be using those back crates as cover from any arrows or whatever.

Kiven calls upon the power of his bow once again and it begins to swirl with black arcane energy. The Prince climbs up onto the cargo a bit such that he is protected by it some but has an elevated view of his enemies on the other boat. He picks out the first archer to his left and breaths, taking his time to aim after his previous failures. "Let's go Dun' Valkar, another chance to show what we can do." At that the elf whispers a word of elven and his arrow begins to form a thin layer of ice just before Kiven lets it fly.
Target is the archer at H4
Daishain, I put Kiven on the far side of the cargo as intended before the battle. Please move him from there up onto the cargo as described to whatever square you think makes the most sense.

As the man besides Sambryl slips to the deck, Respar moves a step or two to starboard, against the rail, giving him some cover from the man directly behind Captain Sambryl. Out of the corner of his eye he sees the ogre beginning to stir, and is hoping to keep the captain focused on himself, so the ogre can charge in and wreak all sorts of havoc. He flourishes his rapier and tries to skewer the man...
Sambryl's eye go wide as he and his men are attacked. Two sailors scream as the hellhound breaths fire on them, more scream as a tiger leaps into their midst. The captain doesn't waste time wondering about it however, instead drawing his sword and going on the offensive. He strikes at Respar, but misses.
Kiven calls out to Grumblejack, and then manages to score a light hit on one of the sailors on the other ship. Grumblejack for his part throws the tarp back and asks, "Smash what? Grumblejack is supposed to be sneakings." He then looks around, and says, "Oh" Standing up, the ogre picks up and readies his big maul.
Eya meanwhile has cast a grease spell on the deck of the frosthamar, underneath the boarding party. Two fall down, a third is barely staying on their feet. Respar tries to attack Sambryl, but his weapon skips off of his opponent's armor.
Meanwhile, Captain odenkirk and his crew charge in. Several engage the boarding party, but three take up long boathooks and start jabbing at the archers on the other ship. Arrows fly, one of them hitting Grumblejack in the arm, he pays it no mind.

Her back against the cargo, Eya loads her crossbow then turns to fire around the corner at the soldier who is barely on his feet after the grease landed.
Meanwhile, the hell hound snarls and lunges at one of men who appear most injured, going straight for the throat.
