Vruuk brushes off Carmir's weirdness, and looks to Cinder and Pok'im next. After thinking about it for only a few seconds, he promptly abandons trying to open the chest to grab and read the letter aloud, remembering all to clearly similar situation. "Think I'll just take that then, if yaw'll don't mind. Now, let's see here..."
As Carmir points out the note but drifts off for a moment in thought, Vruuk will rise from his slouched position and grab the piece of paper. holding it in his hands near the faint glow of one of the nearby lanterns, the bugbear is able to read the hastily written letter.
- Keep pushing those small savages as hard as it takes to reach the the Silver Lady. I don't care if you a few die in the process, we are going to kill them all once we complete the ritual anyway... We only have a small window of time to get the mask from her tomb and combine it with the book before the full moon ends... The NEW Silver Lady is losing her patience and is not going to want to wait another month to complete the ritual!
"Mmph!"Vruuk nods firmly in agreement. If Carmir still appeared out of it however, Vruuk crumples up the paper and tosses it at Carmir's head. "'ey! Ain't no time to be sit'n in the clouds. 'less ya planning to run off on us /again/, we need'ja 'ere." He pauses to grind his teeth, then adds, "They all need'ja, Brother. So c'mon!" He claps Carmir none too gently on the shoulder. Once he had his attention and everyone appears ready, Vruuk leads the way down the path the cultist had been running down towards in their hurry to get away. Or at least, he makes sure to guide Pok'im that way while following closely behind him.
When the ball of paper hits Carmir, his head jerks up, but he looks down again at the bugbear's words. When Vruuk's hand lands painfully on his shoulder, the tiefling protests, "Ow!" He finally gets to his feet, rubbing the shoulder. "Fine!" he says heatedly. "Let's go, already."
(@All: Well, if Cinder wanted to try the keys before the letter reading he's more than welcome to. Or even after! It just after it is in a weird place now that everyone's all fired up to go do the beating up more cultist, much as I at least OOC would love to know what's inside)

After reading the note, you all realize that the situation has become a bit more dire and take off down the hallway. You pass a couple doors and find yourself standing facing a door at the end of a long hallway. To the right of the door is a spiral staircase heading up where you can all now hear what sounds like a church sermon or mass that is getting close to finishing. The door in front you you is heavy. It is hanging slightly ajar and you can see a faint light flickering from behind the door accompanied by the sound of muffled crying . To the left there is a spiral staircase heading down. Now that you are all so close to the stairwell going down you can hear clanking and muffled voices coming from the dark stairwell.
Carmir whispers to the others, "I can make myself look like a cultist and enter to see what's behind the door." He looks at each to see if the plan seems like a good one to them.
"Does it e'en matter?" Vruuk half-growls underbreathe back at Carmir. Despite clear annoyance the bugbear refrained from taking a step forward in any direction, and just drew his scimitars instead. But after a moment he looks to the stairwell leading down and says, "You all see 'bout the door. I keep watch at the stairs." As if to clarify, he positions himself at the top of the stairwell leading down, and holds his blade at the ready to cut down the first silver robed/armored figure to come up, if any.

OOC: Sorry guys, I had a day where my posts in several campaigns didnt go through... Can we try the keys at a later date? Remember the location of the chest? Or just say he did check it? I am open to either
OOC #2: Have we only had a short rest since the last fight?
Pok'im cups a meaty paw to his ear and strains to hear the muffled crying (Perception - 12). He turns to the others asking "does that sound like one of our sistas or brudders?"
(@Zip: Oof! Serious bug out, eh? To answer at least one of those questions with any degree of confidence:(#2) Yes, we did short rest since that last fight. So if you need to spend hit die retroactively, pretty sure wreck would be cool there.)
(For #1, won't hear any complaints from me about having checked it prior to the whole big reveal or what have you. But DM call.)
(@Grant: Door's ajar, so Pok'im can probably just go ahead and peek inside)
Vruuk just grunts, but refrains from commenting one way or another. He either couldn't or refused to keep relax since hearing the clanks from below.

(You all had a short rest after the last fight, and if you all wanted to check the chest, that is fine but I would need to know how you are all doing it. It is very large and heavy and on the top of a shelf. Cinders for example would have to climb the shelf to try keys or picking the lock (acrobatics or athletics to climb it) or Vruuk or Pokim could try to use the keys and lockpicks to open it but you would have to get the chest down to really see what is inside (Athletics check to lift it / not drop it)

Cinders looks up at the others, a little worried. "Sounds like we need to hurry guys! Looks like the bad things are going to happen soon!"
"Yeah we gotta hurry if we gunna save our brudders, sistas, Ma and Pa. Pok'im has rested 'nuff now! Lets go!" the bugbear says as he stands up.

CInders would get Vrukk and Pok'im to lower it down. He would then open it from the lower level.
