Gobber it takes you awhile to hack through the hard carapace armor with your sword. The creature’s blood oozes out onto the floor and pools around it’s lifeless body. When your done with this you attack the mouth parts assuming this is where the venom comes out of and is stored. Having never examined one of these creatures before you are unfamiliar with their anatomy and are unsure of how to safely extract the venom. You saw at the fangs with your blade and pull on them with your hands. Turns out this isn’t the right way to extract the poison and you end up rupturing the poison sack that sits behind the fangs. In doing so the poison sprays out onto your exposed skin.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gobber tries to resist the poison, but the toxins are still fresh and too potent to combat. The bold halfling gasps as the phase spider’s venom enters his bloodstream through his porous skin. The rest of the party looks on as Gobber’s pupils grow large and darken. He attempts to stammer “H-h-e-l...” but his speech is slurred and the word comes out as a choked wheeze. Gobber falls to his knees as his vision blurs and a wave of pain washes over him. He then falls forward onto his stomach and appears to pass out face down on the cavern floor.
After a few long moments he rolls over onto his side and throws up the mostly digested remnants of your previous meal. He is sweating profusely now, but his skin is cold and clammy to the touch and has a slight blackish blue hue. It looks like the worst of the effects have run their course, but Gobber you certainly have a splitting headache and you aren’t quite sure if their will be any lasting effects because you feel quite numb.
DM Note: Gobber you take half of 14 poison damage since you are resilient and are poisoned for 1 hour.
As Gobber struggles to speak and is feeling some of the effects of the poison, he crawls to the closest wall and leans against the wall and take a breather. He tries to grab his waterskin but fails the first time as his eye coordination is a bit off. After a few tries, he takes some water to pour onto his face and takes a sip before laying on his backpack to recover from the effects.
Healer scurries over to Gobber. He shimmers in a soft green light as the sound of a twig snapping reverberates through the cavern. He melts back into his former self, kneeling next to Gobber.
"Don't worry little friend, maybe I can help."
Healer would like to attempt to determine the poisons nature and if there is any way to stabalize Gobber.
Angie goes to the opposite side of Gobber as Healer and bends down by his form. If he has been knocked out she will cast her cantrip spare the dying on him. Either way she will suggest, "Maybe we should take a rest here and let Gobber recover a bit."
Healer, you understand that the venom of spiders on your home world has the injury property. The venom can be distilled into a poison that can be applied to weapons, ammunition, trap components, and other objects that deal piercing or slashing damage and remains potent until delivered through a wound or washed off. A creature that takes piercing or slashing damage from an object coated with the poison is exposed to its effects.
It would seem however that the venom of this particular spider being native to the dark corners of Trudvang also carriers an additional property e.g. contact poison. This type of poison can be smeared on an object and remains potent until it is touched or washed off. A creature that touches contact poison with exposed skin suffers its effects.
Gobber was exposed to the “contact” property of the poison hence his reaction.
You also surmise that spiders use this venom to paralyze their victims (likely to preserve them for a midnight snack) which is probably why Gobber momentarily passed out.
Gobber was not exposed to a great amount of the poison and is resistant, so you believe he just needs rest for now.
"You are in no danger. Your folk are a hardy lot. You will be weak for a time. I agree with Angie. We should rest so that you may recover."
He turns to the rest of the group,
"The poison of the spiders here is very powerful. It can be used on an assortment of weapons and traps. If any remains, we should collect it. Do be careful, you do not want it to touch your skin."
DM Note: The spiders venom sack ruptured when Gobber attempted to extract it the first time, thus it will be very difficult to collect. But, if anyone would like to try make a nature check.
Either way you all take a short rest at the end of which Gobber looks visibly better. The venom’s effects seem to have worn off and Gobber is no longer poisoned.
As you all rest the cave is still except for the drip.. drip.. drip.. coming from over by the mouth of the cave and a soft breeze blowing down on you from the far side.
One hour after suffering from the poison, Gobber jumps back up feeling better than ever. "Aha! Nothin works better than a nap to cure a cold. I'm feeling mighty better now! Gobber stretches his stout arms into the air and yawns. "Morning lads, *yawn* what are we up to now?"

Healer wanders over to the corps. There is the fainted whir as a pair of vials seem to materialize in his hand.
He stoops over to collect the poison, taking care to avoid direct contact.

You're not quite able to gather enough of the liquid for it to be useful most of it having seeped into the corpse, or sprayed onto your companion.

Anyone can make that check with advantage as I assume the whole party wants to scour the cavern for an exit and so will be aiding whoever makes it.
