The cold blast of energy takes the guard off guard hitting him in the face as Aryn brings down her sword on his raised arms and head. The sword carves through the partially frozen arms and head sending chunks of frozen flesh to the ground as the rest of the corpse falls to the ground leaving only the mage alive who still glaring at Mucor when he says, "For Vaeril!" and rushes towards the large Minotaur as a bead of red energy forms in his hand. As he reaches Mucor he throws the bead to the ground and the room erupts into flame. The mage's body is instantly incinerated before your eyes in a flash of red and white light before the shock wave knocks you both to the ground and flames lick across your bodies.
Zinmaer & Mucor make a DC 17 dex save or take 40 fire damage, half on success.
The pressure wave from the fireball blows out large chunks of the wall and nearly knocks Jinara over. Aryn and Gaelin are feel pushed forward as the wave of hot air rushes over them. Then nothing but a high pitched ringing in your ears. You each blink rapidly and look around. The charred remains of the room lie in tatters as still smoldering pieces of wood and plaster fall from the ceiling. Your ears still ring from the sound of the blast and you shake your head to try and get rid of it. After a few seconds the ring dissipates and a sickening silence comes across the hallways.

Gaelin will look back and say, "Everyone to Mucor and ZInmaer." and will run to the room they were in. Once there he will inspect their wounds and use the staff to cast Mass Cure Wounds healing everyone in the group: 29 Gaelin will then look around at the damage and assist them out of the room if needed for safety.
(Once we know how much healing we need Gaelin will heal some more)

(why would we take damage from the insect plague? it has a 20 foot damage area and I should have been able to hit both hounds and the cultists without hitting me or anyone else based on the map I thought... It looks like maybe you have it as a 40 ft area.)
Mucor dex save against fireball! 13
Mucor would leap backwards as the room erupted in flames. His hair singed almost to the point of non-existance as smoke and spore swirl around him... "Well... that hurt a bit..." He would say with a snort... Is everyone ok? He would ask as he notices his wounds close. "Thank you friend! I will be sure to tell our dragon friend all about how well you fought today" he says with a smile.
(20 ft radius is a 40 ft diameter circle. When you wrote "fills the room with a swarm of biting and stinging bugs" i took it as it literally fills the whole room. I try to remain consistent with my interpretations of everyone's posts and base it on the context and detail within the post. Typically with AOE effects if people want only a certain area to be targeted they include it in their post. I really thought you were just using the insect cloud to enhance the already swirling spores around your character for effect. If that is not what was intended my apologies. Your character would definitely be able to cast the spell in a way to hit all enemies without it hitting yourself or Zinmaer so there is no need to make a roll.)
Zinmaer would slowly sit up until he smells something burning realizing that his robe had caught fire. He quickly starts trying to pat it out with his hands, but has to result in rolling around on the ground. Oddly, he didn’t seem to have any wounds from the fireball (Evasion), but his clothes look to be in ashy and in disarray. He sees Gaelin approach and cast his healing spell. “Thank you friend...I did not see that coming and it almost cost me my life. Mucor, you ok over there?”

(ooc: nope.. you are right... I didn't pay attention that it was radius.. I just saw the picture of an orb and 20ft... assuming that it was 20 feet wide. I am dumb. That is fine then. I was in fact trying to use it to suppliment my spores, It was just much wider than I thought it would be... because I apparently cannot read :D)
The group congregates and bandages themselves before you continue searching through the building. You slowly and quietly make your way room by room discovering a large dining area, kitchen, bathing area and crowded living quarters. The corpses of your fallen enemies line the blood stained hallways and the smell of death is thick in the air. As you continue west you hear the sounds of whimpering, hushed talking and shifting coming from two rooms on the far west hallway. You slowly approach in two groups and open the doors simultaneously prepared for a fight. The sight within causes you to immediately lower your weapons. Inside the northern room are 20 boys ranging from 4 to 14. They sit in chairs within what appears to be a classroom. In the southern classroom sit 15 girls with a similar age range and setting. They all turn to meet your gaze as you open the door. The younger ones seem scared of these new intruders while the older ones stare questioningly.
"Shit" Aryn mutters to herself. "Mucor can you grab the werebears and start moving all the bodies out of sight? Jinara do you have the ability to magically clean up the blood stains or cover them up? Just whatever is in sight between here and the front entrance." she says telepathically to the group. She sheaths her swords and walks into the room of girls and says calmly but loud enough that the other group can hear her, "We mean you no harm, we've come to rescue you and help return you to your families. The building is still unsafe so please remain seated and calm. In a few minutes we're going to escort you outside where it will be safer for you." She'll hold up her hands and continues, "Are any of you injured or sick?" If the kids warm up to her she would try to get a bit closer and comfort any that are willing to get close.

While they're clearing the building Gaelin will heal Zinmaer and Mucor with 2nd level Cure wounds.

When he sees the kids he'll look north to the other group then back to his sister and say, "Who could do this?" As his sister brushed past him and entered the room he would add, "I can help clean up the gore if needed." If he helped clean he would start casting Prestidigitation and go foot by foot. If any kids need healing he would tend to them.

telepathically "Sure. It will take me some time." Jinara would take off back down the hallways and cast Prestidigitation to clean up the blood and gore along our traveled path. "Gaelin. You take the entryway and front stairs, I'll take the bedrooms & laboratory."

Jinara would also go and diligently investigate arcanist's laboratory, and two bedrooms in the SE corner of the building (where the fighting happened). He would perform a series of activities to thoroughly exam the room for anything of significance (I'm looking for what types of magical properties were focused on by these mages. I am also looking for anything Vaeril related: symbols, letters, journals, etc.)
(My hope is that a diligent search would allow me advantage :) )
The tasks I want to perform is 1) an Arcana search for anything with a magical presence, 2) Investigation to look for any magical signatures AND anything Vaeril related, and 3) Insight/History/Religion (whichever is most appropriate for what I might find. they are all the same point wise) on anything I find as to why it exists and its purpose of being in this mage's possession.
Mucor would move to get the bears. "Hey, I need the two of you to get the kids to safety while we check the rest of this place for threats!" The minotaur would shout to the bears from inside the orphanage while tossing bodies into some of the side rooms and quickly using druidcraft to cause small flowers and colorful mushrooms to cover the corpses. Running back to the kids, He would crouch down and look to the children. "Don't worry, we are here to rescue you" He would say with a gentle voice.
Aryn & Mucor intimidation check! (I know this is not what you are going for, but given the circumstances and your appearance the kids are scared of you despite your calm demeanor.)

If you take your time you wouldn't rejoin the group as they escort the kids or finish clearing the orphanage.
You quickly glance over the rooms while the group is escorting the kids and rejoin them to finish clearing, but can return afterwards to do a diligent search with advantage.)
(I am imagining this hulking minotaur with what is left of his hair scortched black and smoldering. The smoldering hair would stand up straight like tiny smoking needles thanks to the electric shocks Mucor had received. The sections where his hair is missing, large burns remain.. no longer bleeding thanks to the healing, but the injured minotaur would still look badly burned... As the minotaur steps forward, the tiny bodies of stinging and biting insects fall from him... compliments of the fireball burning the instects that were swarming him in the previous room.)
(@Xtra: Jinara would assume that it would take some time to convince AND corral the kids to 1) exit the building, and 2) trust two talking bears to walk into the woods. lol I think Jinara would assume he had plenty of time. Would you allow for advantage and if one of the party members contacts Jinara, that his search would be cut short and wouldn't be able to search remaining room(s)? If so, the order of rooms would be Laboratory, then adjacent bedroom, then finally bedroom across the hall)
Zinmaer would have been standing in the room with the kids behind Mucor and Aryn, not saying a word, but his face holding a look of deep concern. (hoping that you guys can intimidate successfully so we can get these kids out of here!)
It takes a few minutes for the group to clear the way for the kids to exit but you make the hallways quite clean. All except Jinara return to the classrooms where Zinmaer and Aryn have been babysitting while keeping an eye out for trouble. Most of the girls seem okay with the idea of leaving this place but some refuse and say that there are more downstairs, friends or family that misbehaved or were chosen. They're not leaving until the others are saved as well. While their words indicate that they aren't willing to move their body language and mannerisms suggest otherwise. Many of the kids have bruises and scars but their clothes appear clean, though many look like hand-me downs and show signs of wear. If you raised your voice or showed any indication of violence they would probably move as they seem used to the concept.
After finishing his portion of the cleaning duties, Jinara made his way to the lab where he discovers an extravagant alchemy setup. Various magical potions and concoctions sit on a large wooden bookshelf along with multitude of herbs, organs and jars of other ingredients. On a heavy wood table sit an array of glass flasks, cylinders and funnels. Looking over the ingredients and purple color of the liquid within you discern the current creation to be a Potion of Mind Reading
"Interesting. This could be of concern in the days to come. I need to get Iris on task of making something to hinder mind reading..." Jinara thinks as he collects as much as he can with the vials close by. (Did I find anything in the 2 bedrooms?)
