Torq- Despite your multitude of travels, you are unable to distinguish the mountain or tower from your memory. Aryn and Jinara- You haven’t visited the area but jogging your mind you know of 3 probable locations that this could be based on the landscape you saw.
The Laniset mountain range in the middle of Telgun is the largest mountain range in all of Eraas and could easily hide such a fortress.
The Desolate Peaks in northern Zhora are so far north from civilization that hardly anyone has seen them. Most only know of them for their abundance of Cloud Giants.
The Darcana Highlands in southern Zhora rest in the middle of Drekthar territory. They are famous for the vast network of hill giant and ogre villages that stretch for miles.
Gaelin- You recall one of your favorite stories your father used to tell you of the black tower. Of an ancient evil wizard who inhabited it and nearly destroyed the world with a great and terrible spell. You remember that it was located on Zhora and it took the coordination of seven powerful mages to defeat him. You don’t remember which mountain range the tower was home to but you would suspect that if you asked Varian, he would probably know the exact location.
(@Xtra: can I say this history check occurred before Jinara went to breakfast?) Jinara says to himself "Desolate Peaks makes the most sense. Why would the army flee north after our attack on the Drethkar in Zhora. Our surprise caused the withdrawal from battle. Once I finish this book, I will find them..." After a few more hours of reading, he realizes that breakfast is almost over and makes his way down.
"I saw the Icy tower in my dream as well... But growing up in a dark and dangerous swamp... I am not familiar with any places like that" Mucor would reply as he stuffs his face with food. After a while he would pipe up. "OH! And did you guys see the new ally that joined our castle? A Treant is living in the grove now. He looked as though he had been in a fight or two and was resting the last I saw him." The minotaur would say while chewing his food.
(@Jinara- Yes, you'd probably try to rack your brain as soon as you woke up. You'd probably get 2 hours of reading before you head down to breakfast for a total of 7 so far.)
"He's somewhere on Zhora. We need to speak with Varian. He will know where the black tower is... Yes Mucor, I met him. He seems quite nice." Gaelin says as he finishes his ale and wipes his mouth. "We should've given Varian the other of those rings. Then we could contact him without draining our own power. We could handle the werewolves this morning and visit Varian after or visit Varian in a few minutes to discuss our dream and deal with the werewolves later. I'm fine with either but I'm going to check with Herbert to see if he has the ability to transport us to Traes." Gaelin stands up and exits heading straight for the grove and looks for Herbert.
"I may be wrong but I feel as though Daegon may be reeling from the decisive losses we caused over the past few days. It may be a good time to settle some local issues before they get out of hand, then return to the bigger picture once we've dealt with the drekthar fleet." Torq says as he watches Gaelin stand and leave.
"Killing the werewolves shouldn't take too much of our energy so I say let's do that first but I'm game for whatever the group decides. You should go talk to the twins and see if they know anything about them." Aryn adds before she takes another bite. "Let me know if you want some company." Aryn says mouth half full, then swallows and follows it up with some ale. "Ah...Whatever we're doing let's do it sooner rather than later."
(Yes make an arcana check, with disadvantage though. You only saw a second or two of it, were in a dream state and had just been pulled through space and time.)
Jinara- You try to remember the motions and words but they seem to all be mumbled or mixed together with words from your evocation studies that has prioritized your mind.
Herbert greets Gaelin in the grove and confirms that he is able to transport the group to Traes as needed. He is quite fond of the kelp there.
Gaelin quickly returns to the group and says, "Alright, Herbert can take us to Traes whenever we need to. What's the plan, werewolves or Varian first?"
"Werewolves. Gaelin... would you accompany me to see Alexandria and Juliana? I understand Theodore is under your charge so you might be better at speaking with them than I. Aryn, you are welcome to come as well as are you two." Torq says to Jinara and Mucor.
Torq would then find the two girls and have Gaelin or Aryn ask them about the moonshapers.
"I'll be glad to." Aryn said as she hopped up and went off with Torq in search of the werebear twins.
Once they find them she tell them all about the two werewolves they killed in town and the bandits along with them; that they were part of the Moonshapers and that (*checks notes*) Lucius is their leader and he's a white-haired werewolf, and they allegedly are located in a cave southeast of Zhesa. Then asks if they know anything about them.
Mucor would nod. "Sure, I am prepared to take care of some werewolves... Perhaps I will leave Button behind to spend a bit more time with his family.." The minotaur would say with a snort.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"But of course." Gaelin replies and will tag along and listen as Aryn speaks, impressed she remembered so much about them. Her training as a spy really did pay off. he thought before speaking up, "You know Alexandria and Juliana, you could always tag along with us. I know your tribe is in a constant war with them. Torq has spoken so highly of your abilities he's volunteered to pay for new armor and weapons for each of you. Isn't that sweet of him?" ( Let the games begin... ;) )
Mucor would grin and casually cast guidance on himself as his hand traces a few runes along his staff. "I did hear him talking about how he met the two most beautiful and amazing fighters last night... said they fought ferociously..." mucor would say with a smile. "He did talk about trying to get them some weapons and armor worthy of such amazing creatures...." Mucor would say as he attempts to help Gaelin convince the twins of his story. before letting out a small snort. Gaelin would notice that Mucor was behaving in much the same way as he would when they would talk before he would pay visits to Valeera...
Mucors guidance roll 4 in case I need to roll deception to go along with my help... Deception! 6
(OOC: Mucor is the ultimate wingman lol... always helping Gaelin :D)
(Dying...the dice will it to be. I feel like those are the only nat 20's you roll but better to make them count for something right. 1 success Torq.)
The two girls look inquisitively at Gaelin and Mucor but can't find any deception in their words and let out a giggle before looking down at the ground as smiles creep across their faces. "We'll go." Alexandria says confidently. "When will we get our new toys?" she asks.
(Torq- you'd know from your tour that the blacksmith's shop has some extra greataxes at his shop and some leather armor. You know from your army experience it takes about 3-5 days to make regular armor and weapons depending on the size. What you don't know is how long it would take them to make some custom armor, or how much it would cost. )
