Aryn leaps across the table sliding through the food and pulls out the hilt of a sword. She focuses and summons a blade of radiant energy and slashes down at the vampire. The girl reflexively turns away from the light and shields herself. The sun blade slices into the vampire's flesh leaving a large laceration on her shoulder. Your second strike cuts into the vampire's side and you smell the scent of burnt flesh. You go for a thrust but the vampire spins out of the way before you pull up and carve deep into the vampire's arm causing her to drop the doll.
Seeing Aryn leap into action and the doll fall to the floor, Mucor would snarl and reach his hand into his pocket. He would quickly grab a small petrified mushroom stalk (druidic focus) and clutch it tightly in his balled fist. "Get out of here! NOW!" He shouts as he points his finger towards the vampire. He would then step slightly to the side and cast sunbeam towards her while making sure not to hit Aryn or anyone else in the room..
con 18 save or take 22 radiant damage. Undead must make the save with disadvantage.
Mucor's hands glow with bright arcane energy and a beam of bright light bursts towards the vampire impacting it in the chest. Clothes begin to burn away and you watch the flesh of her sternum turn black as the light sears her skin. Lilyana and Folduin look to one another and prepare to run from the room as the vampire acts. She looks around the room nervously as flakes of skin peel from her cheek due to the light radiating from Aryn's blade. Her confidence drained she now bears a look of anger and says, "You may kill me but not before justice has been done." and casts a spell. A pale green orb of arcane energy flies from the vampire's hand and slams into Folduin. His body contorts and his skin shrivels up as the spell consumes his life force. "Vengeance for the conclave." the vampire says and leaps into the air doing a flip and runs across the ceiling towards the Lilyana landing beside her. Lilyana frozen by the sight of her mangled husband and the charred vampire stands in shock unable to act.
Aryn & Mucor- Aryn sprints after the vampire and with two heavy blows carves open the vampires chest. Mucor refocuses his beam of radiant energy on the vampire's exposed heart and you watch as the beam of energy burns away the heart. The vampire's skin begins to flaky away and turn to ash as the body spontaneously combusts into flame. The bright red flames seem almost magical and within a few seconds all that remains of the creature is a small pile of ash. You turn to see Folduin's crooked corpse. The veins all turned black with some type of necrotic energy. Lilyana looks over her husband's body and falls to her knees weeping.
Mucor walks over to his father's corpse and sighs. "part of me wants to leave him this way... but I'll see what I can do... for you mother." Mucor would say as he looks towards his father's corpse and casts gentle repose. "I am sure we can bring him back if you want. I could reincarnate him for you but there is a good chance he wouldn't look the way he did before. " Mucor would say was he places his hand on his mothers shoulder. "We have powerful friends. the spell I cast should preserve him so that he can be easily resurrected back to the way he was before if you want. We could take his body with us to daybreak."
Lilyana looks up at Mucor, her chest heaving with grief, "I... I could never ask you to restore your father's life. But since you offer, I feel as though I must accept. I still love him but more than anything I think you deserve to know why you were left to die, and I... why I was deprived of a son." she stands shakily and embraces you continuing to weep into your shoulder. "Can I accompany you? to Daybreak? I'd like to be there to question him as well if that is allowed."
Aryn looks on quietly for a moment contemplating whether she should say something then says, "Mucor, I didn't want to distract you earlier but Gaelin and Jinara have asked that we return to daybreak to help them with something they found. At first I thought it could wait but Iris also contacted me requesting we come back to daybreak this evening. I was going to wait until after dinner but if you're up for it we can travel to daybreak now and they might be able to help with your father tonight."
"Let's go now." Mucor would say as he holds his mother in his arms. "Lilyana, send for your daughters, They should come with us as well. If the vampires want you all dead then they are not safe either" He would say before pulling his bag of holding from his hip. Once his mother was out of the room he would pick up his fathers corpse very roughly by the head and cram it into the bag like you would if you were trying to stuff a coat into a backpack. Mucor would look to Aryn and nod. "We will get my family to Daybreak and then we can help your brother. They should be safe there for the time being. Did Gaelin say if he was in trouble?" The elf would ask as he finishes shoving the corpse into the bag. His face looking much more concerned for her brother than for his father.
"Oh my... your sisters are in Zhesa. Do you really think they are in trouble? It'll take days for a letter to reach them. Anias! I need some parchment, quill and ink.." Lilyana says rushing out of the room. The slender body of your father barely fits in and you have to use some force to push the shoulders in but you manage to successfully house the body in your bag.
"Not in trouble. Only that they found something and need our help. I don't think he'd ask us to cut your visit short unless it was important. We should grab your mom and go. I didn't think I would ever say this, but you may want to take it easy and hear your dad out before you decide to like him or not. If vampires were involved he may have been under their charm. Not sure about why he left you, of course he could just be a dead beat but we'll find out hopefully." Aryn replies processing the new information and involvement of vampires.
(lol, speaking from parent experience, stuffing one of those giant teddy bears into a book bag is pretty tough. Almost feels like it's fighting you. I like to imagine it as Mucor carefully punching the the body into the bag.)
As soon as Aryn and Mucor arrive at daybreak he'll fill them in on the ruins, ghosts and crystal.
(I do have 2 5th level spells left so I can pick up your sisters real quick if needed.)
OOC: I'll be honest, I was thinking that the sisters were just in town working at their bakery. I fogot/wasnt paying attention that they were far away so they probably are mostly safe....
Aryn& Mucor- Lilyana comes bearing a letter that she has sealed with the Loramenor crest in wax and hands it to Anias. Then she dons a heavy fur coat and grasps Mucor's arm. "Where's Folduin's body?" she asks and you motion to the bag. She nods a bit concerned but trusting in good faith she leads you to the door. You each don your own coats and exit into the cold air. It only takes a few seconds before you find a large enough tree and open up a portal. A short gasp of surprise and wonder escapes Lilyana's mouth before you step through and enter into the grove of Castle Daybreak. There you find Herbert, Gaelin, Iris, Torq and the twins waiting for your arrival and you share a short awkward introduction of your new guest. (Mucor or Aryn- you can give as much or as little detail as you want).
Mucor- you see Button's cave sealed up but the expansion of Button's fungi family is present beyond the mouth of the cave. For the first time you don't sense or feel his prescence around or within you.
(Does anyone wish to do something at castle Daybreak before you head off with Gaelin and Iris?)
Aryn will go back up to her room and get her bow, armor and swords. "Is it cold there?" she asks before heading up. If it is she'll keep the coat, if not she'll carefully hang it up in her armoire. She would let Mucor determine the level of detail to share about Lilyana and look at Gaelin with a serious but gentle smile as if to say tread lightly but help.
"Herbert, I'd like you to meet my mother Lilyana." Mucor would say as he motions towards Lilyana. "See that she is taken care of, vampires have threatened my family and I plan to keep them safe. I also need help with resurrecting my father, his corpse is in here..." He would add before Handing his bag to the torte and spotting Buttons cave. When he does, he can feel his blood pressure rise as stomps towards the sealed cave. Once there he would cast flaming sphere twice. Using the power of his amulet, he would focus on both balls of flame, sending them out in front of himself and scorching any signs of button that exist outside the cave. Mucor would scowl at the flaming fungus as he swept his hands left and right as he directed the flames where to move. Once all that remained directly in front of Buttons cave was ash and cinders, he would part the flaming spheres and walk between them. He would then place his hand on the stone and cast stone shape. He would work quickly to open a hole just large enough for the flaming spheres to pass through, and once he had created the hole he would immediately step to the side and send both flaming spheres into the dark cave.
