"You're not helping..." Mucor would grumble as he rubs his forehead with his trembling hand. "Are the blood suckers a threat to mother and my sisters... and to my friends?" He would ask as he listens intently for the answer. "Where can I find these blood suckers?"
Gaelin- You can tell from the pained expression that Folduin does appear to be speaking truthfully.
Mucor- Folduin replies, "Yes." His voice strains as he speaks and his eyes are locked to yours as you follow up. He takes a breath and his face changes to dread says, "Impossible...They... find you."
Jinara ponders the words Epos says and replies "You make Neltharion sound like a deity. Would you liken him(I cannot remember if Neltharion was a male or female) that way knowing what you know? If so, Whom do the dragon-kin worship in your land? What deities have prominence? It may be advantageous for us to have a discussion."
Jinara- "It took the combined efforts of multiple deities including Bahumat to combat his armies of dragons and banish him. For such an effort to be required one must have a healthy respect or fear of the power commanded by Neltharion despite his evil deeds. It is after all this battle of the gods and dragons that gave birth to our species. I personally am a follower of Bahumat, and the vast majority of dragonborn here are his followers. There are some who choose to follow the other deities such as Davara, Agmar or Gillethe. I am at your service however I eblieve we should postpone our conversation to a later time. Perhaps tomorrow while your friends are continuing their research?" Epos replies.
"thank you for the wisdom Epos. We can wait until they return. During our wait, would you be comfortable with allowing me an audience with leader of your most prominent Bahumat temple? I know I have the aid of Davara with us. It would be beneficial to have Bahumat as well; at least her direct knowledge." Jinara says in reverence.
Mucor would let out a frustrated snort. "I've asked four of the five questions and I don't know anymore than I did a few minutes ago..." The elf would grumble. his trembling hand would move a few disheveled hairs from out of his face as he moved closed to the corpse. "I have so many questions... hundreds of questions but they all seem pointless because you refuse to try to help me... you refuse to give me any information I can use to protect those that you actually loved... I could protect mother... protect your daughters... MY SISTERS... but you refuse... the same way you refused to be revived." The elf would stand up and pace back and forth in front of his fathers corpse... "You are already dead? What are you afraid of? Your fear drove you to throw me away. I could help you! I could help everyone! I just want to help!' Mucor shout while looming over his father. "Why won't you help me!?" He exclaims before kicking his fathers corpse over and over again. Tears streaming down his face as blow after blow to his fathers ribs land with the sound of cracking ribs. After a few moments Mucor would fall to his knees and punch his fathers chest before collapsing his face into his hands and sobbing.
Gaelin would cast detect magic on the corpse and lay a hand on Mucor's shoulder. He tried to think of something to say but no words seemed to come to mind. He felt a tear slide down his own cheek and realized he too was crying. He knew the pain of a lost loved one, but couldn't fathom the hopeless frustration Mucor must feel.
Jinara-"I will do my best to arrange such a meeting, though on such short notice I cannot make any promises. Rest and we will discuss things further tomorrow." Epos says with a small bow. You leave his quarters and head down to meet up with the others. Iris perks up at your arrival and you are greeted by a blue dragonborn.
Aryn and Jinara-"If you would be so kind to accompany me, I shall lead you to your rooms." the short stocky male says with his tail flicking back and forth. You walk for roughly 15 minutes traversing the lava tunnels before taking a fork that ends in a series of doors. You are each assigned a door and upon opening find a quaint room with a bed, nightstand and small table with two chairs. As you make your preparations for the night the information learned from the day's labor keeps your mind racing. Your body protests having been awake and active longer than usual and you eventually find sleep on the comfortable beds.
Mucor, Gaelin & Jinara- You see the face look pained as if Mucor's insults are actually effecting the corpse and as Mucor asks his final question you hear, "I fear... if I should... return...for my son... his life... his happiness...." and at the pronunciation of the last word, the eyes roll back and the corpse exhales what remaining breath lingered in its lungs. The lifeless body moves slightly with each impact. A grotesque crunch is audible after the second blow as ribs begin to snap from the continued attacks. As Mucor collapses to the ground an sobs the withered corpse lies broken and silent.
Gaelin- Even after Herbert's spell ends and Mucor begins to kick the lifeless body of his father, you see an eerie pale green glow around the corpse and sense a Necromantic aura.
"There's still a spell on the body." Gaelin says. "Do you think that could be preventing him from returning? I can cast a restoration spell on him to try and end the effect if you want. I don't know if it will work but we also need to meet up with Aryn, Jinara and the others." he asks.
If Mucor or Herbert thinks it'll help Gaelin will cast Greater Restoration on the corpse.
Mucor would let out a loud snort and wipe his eyes before making his way to his feet. A small flame would form in his hand for a moment before flickering out as Gaelin speaks. "I don't think he wants to come back." The elf would say as he wipes a bit of snot from under his nose. He would look towards Gaelin and give one last snort as he finishes collecting himself. "You may cast the spell if you wish. Although it may be a waste of you magic... " Mucor would pause and look towards his feet. "I let me mother down. I've known my mother for less than a day and I've already disappointed her."
He would then look back to Gaelin and Torq and then to Herbert. "Iet mother know I wasn't able to bring back her husband and that she needs to stay here until I can figure out how to ensure her safety...." He would pause and rub the back of his neck. "I am ready to leave. I am ready to meet up with Aryn and the others."
Gaelin, Mucor & Torq- "Spare your energy Gaelin. I will work to restore this corpse. We can reconvene upon your return. While I do not wish to give you hope Mucor, whatever spell currently residing in your father's body could be preventing his return to life. Very few magics are capable of such things but without further examination and testing I cannot say for certain. Ease your mind and when you return we can reevaluate." Herbert says carefully picking up the corpse and lays it on a moss covered cart. As Hebert finishes the twins arrive looking battle ready. You take a moment to check over your things and Gaelin sends Iris a message to alert them of your coming. You make any final preparations and vanish in a flash of arcane light from Gaelin's spell. You reappear in a room of dark basalt rock. You are greeted by multiple dragonborn guards who request your name and purpose. Upon mentioning the lightbringers the gaurds exchange a look and nod to one another. "Welcome Lightbringers. Please, come with me." one of them says and takes you through the long and arduous hike down the tunnels leading you to a hallway of doors.
Aryn & Jinara- Iris rouses you with a short message, "The others are on their way." Iris's voice says in your mind. Make yourselves ready. After about 10 minutes of stretching, getting dressed and gathering your things you exit your rooms into the hallway and find your friends waiting at the end of the hallway. You smile and feel excitement at the sight of your friends then notice the serious expressions on their faces.
"I had a good trip. I found most of the answers I was searching for. Gaelin and Herbert were kind enough to assist in transferring me there and back and you all gave me the time away to do so. I'm here to return the favor and aid in whatever way I can. How has the investigation been thus far?" Torq replies back with a nod flanked by the twins.
Mucor would return the kiss and pull her close. He would give her a tight hug before letting her go. When she asked what happened, the elfs eyes would move from hers to the ground. "I failed to bring him back and I let mother down. Gaelin and Herbert did everything right but it didn't matter. He wouldn't come back.... and when I tried to ask him questions..... " Mucor would pause for a moment as he replayed everything that happened in the grove that morning over in his head. "Herbert cast a spell that let me ask him questions. I asked him why he abandoned me and tried to find out who was trying to hurt mother and how I could find them. I wanted to know how to stop them. But he didn't tell me anything useful." The elf would try hard to shake off the look of sadness and disappointment on his face. With a snort he would force a smile and move to hug Aryn once more. "I will be fine. Seeing you has already helped to make me feel better." The forced smile would turn into a small genuine one as he locks eyes with her. "So now that we are here, what can I do to help"
"I'm so sorry Mucor. I don't think that your mother would blame you." Aryn says hugging him close again. "We've made some headway but I think with all of us researching we will find more information."
"Glad things went well Torq. I am sure you are ready for a little action. We may be getting into that very soon." he says then turns to Mucor "I feel Aryn is right. We have learned a lot but another day's research with all of us will definitely aid our efforts."
