On the way down to the docks Zuldarr will swing into a shop to pick up an extra potion of healing and hand out one potion of healing to Miri and another potion of healing to Kol. "Hopefully we won't have to use these, but it never hurts to be prepared." Zuldarr will make his way up to another one of the guards looking over the scene, "Excuse me, but we were hired to find a lost individual and was wondering if we could get have permission to examine those bodies to see if one of them is the individual. We'll be in and out real quick, promise."

Summer walks amongst the group, through the street. Though he had walked the streets in the days prior to meeting everyone in the Yawning Portal, the country bumpkin still seems taken aback by the city. His head turns curiously back and forth at all the people that they pass. He does a double-take at the guards as they pass, lingering as Boo approaches a guard.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Kol follows along with the group through the streets, taking in the enormous, sprawling city with wonder. At the sight before them, he tries to take in any details of the corpses, who or what they might be, or any distinguishing marks.
The guard tosses a silver to Boo. "Go on then, we've got this in hand."
Boo catches the coin and slips it into a fold in her rags and looks up at the guard, "you are most generous and kind noble ser... I will be on my way after I've paid homage to the dead hereto see them on their way and ensure they do rise up later undead or something even fouler."The little waif then attempts to move on past the guardas she sings a prayer song (spoiler below) Boo moving in closer to get a better look at the crime scene, the dead bodies and try to determine how they died... be it by sword or blade or by tooth and claw as well as any clues she may happen upon regarding the scene itself, the dead or those being arrested. If the guards' order Boo to move away, etc. she will ignore them forcing them to if they want her gone then they must come up to her... one more or more and physically do it, grab her... pick her up and/or force her back in which case Boo will not resist or fight back in any way and comply and only then stay put off away from the scene where they place her or arrest her as they choose.
Boo doesn't resist physically as and remains totally silent as the guard pulls her away and pushes her back through the cordon... her curiosity now satisfied she returns to her place at the rear of the group not looking at anyone or saying anything... ready to follow the group wherever they are headed next.
Miri watches Boo carefully, looking her over surreptitiously, making sure that the rough guard didn't leave any marks on the poor thing. Seeing nothing that concerns her, she follows the group.
"Any idea who these people were?" Kol asks of Boo once they get out of immediate earshot of the guards.
Boo looks up at the huge barbarian Koland shrugs, her face deadpan... shaking her head as she replies nonchalantly in a whispery hollow voice, "no Floon, no monsters, no Dread Warrior... just the usual mundane servants of mister mayhem. Where wolf's ears are, wolf's teeth are near!"
"Yeah! We've gotta hurry if we're going to find Mister Volothamp's friend! We wouldn't want..." he says, narrowing his eyes theatrically. "The trail to go cold."
You continue searching for the tavern. You believe according to your rough directions, you are getting pretty close.
One nearby shop stands out from the others. It has a deep purple facade, and in its window hangs a stuffed beholder. Above the door hangs a sign whose elaborate letters spell out “Old Xoblob Shop.”

Miri stops suddenly as the beholder in the window catches her eye. She grabs Summer's arm, whispering and pointing excitedly. "Is that a real beholder? I've never seen one in person before." Her eyes widen and she turns to Summer. "If the owner can dispatch a beholder, I wonder what treasures they might be selling?!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Boo stops and stares up in awe of the rather strange shop, very taken with its rather gaudy and tacky looking deep purple facade unable to stop herself from walking straight up to the shop window and pressing her nose against the window pane in a child-like manner... her eye gazing at first up at the stuffed beholder and then whatever else she can see and/or hear inside through the window such as an owner, shop staff, or customers moving about and if anyone is talking, etc. as well as what other types of knick-knacks, trinkets and merchandise that the shop appears to also have for sale to get a better idea of exactly what type of shop it is.Perception21 Additionally, Boo will also try to think about the name of the shop itself, Old Xoblob Shop to see if she can remember knowing or having heard anything about it.History4
The shop windows are a bit grimy, so you can't see a lot of details. It looks kinda dusty and smokey in there, the shelves, walls, everything is purple. The only inhabitant you can see is a hairless gnome in purple robes sitting cross-legged on the counter, smoking a purple pipe. His head is covered with painted purple eyes.
Spoiler is for the history check.
The Xoblob shop is a curiousity shop that sells all matter of items, all of them purple. Its a fixture going back generations. It sticks out in your memory because of a story you heard about the last person to buy the store. He tried to rename the store after himself, and everyone kept calling it "the old Xoblob Shop", so he chanmged his name to Xoblob and kept going.

Her eyes widen and she turns to Summer. "If the owner can dispatch a beholder, I wonder what treasures they might be selling?!"
Summer's eyes go wide as he looks up at the sign, then to Miri and back.
"If they can do that, then wow! They must have incredible... marvellous treasures!" He exclaims in excitement. To the party, he posits: "Do you think we have time to check it out?"
Leaning back and mumbling out of the corner of his mouth towards Miri, he mumbles, "Also, what is a 'beholder?'"
Miri looks at Summer with a mild grimace. "Well, a beholder is an evil creature with many eyes that shoot magic. Or so I've heard," she says. "They are very formidable and dangerous, according to stories. There must surely be wondrous things inside."
"Whoooa... That sounds terrifying," Summer says, looking up at Miri with eyes mystified. "And I thought fighting goblins was impressive, imagine... wow, just imagine!"
He steps up to the door, a moth drawn to the flame and turns to the party.

He tilts his head in Mercy's direction.
"What do you think happened here?" He mumbles.

None of the corpses or prisoners matches Floon's description. You notice a tattoo of a winged snake on one of the prisoner's hands.

The guard, not expecting Boo to be so brazen doesn't get the chance to immediately stop her.
Boo: You do get close enough to see these are plainly not Floon, and the cause of death is from a dagger fight.
The guard quickly recovers, orders Boo away, then puts a hand on her shoulder and pushes her back behind the cordon.
