Elber looks around him, his disdain for the slums being visibly apparent but in his mind having more to do with disappointment that this poverty could exist in such a town. "Clearly the slums be without the protection of law, even the fortifications crumble. I say we force our way inside, through windows rather than door."
“No, the law usually does not spend much time in these areas unless called upon. The people here will take care of one another. So let’s make sure we do not offend them for being poor. Let me see if I can pick the lock and if anyone asks, we are checking on the safety of the occupants. Stow our weapons and look like we are helping, for now.
Jack asks Elber and Duncan to stand by him for some cover as he tries to pick the lock.
Jack hears the mechanism click as the door gives way, emerging into a dark hall which smells of decay. An iron coat rack, devoid of coats, leans against the crumbling wall, and a carpet coated in a thin layer of dust adorns the floor. The hall leads deeper into the building, with a door to your right and two doors to your left.
“Inside, quickly” he whispers. Jack gets everyone inside and shuts the door behind them. “Landrae, a little light if you wouldn’t mind.” as he pulls a torch out for her to cast light on. He then locks the front door so no one can enter easily, and leans the coat rack against it so the may here if anyone enters.
Do I see any foot prints in the dust or hear anything coming from down the hall? Perception: 11
Jack hears no one approaching but by the light of the torch he finds the imprints of a boot in the dust on the floor, leading to the door on the right.

Landrae casts Light for Jack, as she slips inside the house she checks her rapier is lose in it's scabbard, her dagger at her belt, and her quiver and now both easily accessible.
"Lead the way folks..." Landrae will linger to the back of the group and try to stay to the shadows.
The door swings inward, revealing a disused kitchen area. A brick oven rests against the far wall, and beneath a boarded window stands a washing basin. A door to the right opens into an empty pantry and a cupboard to the left bears the remnants of a few dishes.
This door leads into a living room. A faded red couch leans against the far wall and a bearskin rug covers the brick floor. A bookshelf to the right of the door still bears a few leather-bound tomes. All of the books seem to pertain to alchemy.
((I am out at the kids xmas concert at the moment, so can't follow too closely sorry))
Landrae will keep a watch in the corridor as rooms are explored, not going in unless called for, maintaining her position and checking behind the party as they move forwards. Considering the circumstance, should be see anything untowards, she'll motion for the others anything openly hostile she will cast faerie fire on as a first action.
The last door leads into a dining space with a back door set into the wall and a broken wooden table. A painting hanging from the wall depicts a man with black hair and dark skin. He wears a blue rob gilt with gold and white and his expression is unreadable.

Does the place seem recently empty? Or is it super dusty everywhere? It's a 1 floor house? PERCEPTION23
"So where's this monster?" Duncan asks. A bit disappointed by the lack of blood on his glaive. "Have we seen everything? Anyone find any secret doors or anything?" he adds almost jokingly
If the hallway leads deeper into the house, Elber takes the lead down the hallway, else he stays ready in the hallway while the others search the rooms.
The hallway divides the house in two and ends at a spiraling, red-carpeted staircase, which leads to a balcony overlooking the hall. The dust on the landing is undisturbed, and two doors lead into adjoining rooms.
The dust on the first floor is disturbed but the house appears otherwise unoccupied.
Jack looks around to see if anyone is around or watching them while he stands by the broken window listening for sounds. “Everyone shhhh”
Perception: 22
((Haha awesome))
All is silent within the brick building.
