"No distress call, the monsters be dead and the crazed creator caught. I be looking for the law to sentence the man and end the threat. Must it be captain Alais, or can any man of the law do that?"
Jack done with his searching is startled by Duncan throwing the picture. He takes a step back making sure that the glaive is not being used against him. He puts his hand on his shoulder, looks at him in the eyes and says “Come on big guy, let’s go find the others” and heads back downstairs. Just don’t speak to me, I’ve been hearing...things”
Duncan nods and follows along. Trying to snap out of it.
The guard turns a pasty green when he views the Manes. Hastily slamming the door shut, he empties the contents of his stomach onto the stone floor. "What do you want from me, then?" He asks when he has recovered himself.

"In my tribe, we would behead anyone who led monsters to us. Such be our laws, but what punishment is just by your laws?" Elber says it's up to the local word of law, but his posture and tone of voice suggests that he would very much prefer the beheading. (Persuasion 3)

Jack is hearing the people around him talk and starts hearing the gibbering again.
Wisdom save: 15
He fights off the ‘voices’ and tells the guard that he should go get one of his officers as this isn’t a simple assault or pickpocket. “There is a missing family and he was locked in the cellar from the outside. This needs to be investigated. We will stay hear until you return.”
Elber sneers at Jack, something he has never done since they met, and his words are forced through clenched teeth. "He chose to... create those... things. For that crime he must pay!"
Jack tries to reason with his companion. “Elber, I am just as disgusted as you are but something doesn’t make sense. Someone locked him in here, and his wife and children are missing. Maybe this was done to him and his children.” He shows him the cup and portrait. “I don’t know. But because of that I am not confident we should be executioners. Let the authorities make that decision. Until now we have killed those...things. If we kill an innocent man....” his voice stops there hoping unsaid words will be enough.
Something clearly snaps inside Elber as he rips the door into the 'prison' open, tearing it off the hinges and throwing it aside, again revealing the demonic corpses lying on the floor inside. "He be no innocent man! He killed my company, my band of brothers!"
((I'll tick off a use of Rage for the door, and for chewing the scenery.))
Duncan will put his arm around Elber and say "I'm seeing things too my friend... there is something very wrong here."and to the guard "please go get help..."
((@JJ - Duncan no doubt still has a while, but some time has clearly past. What's the countdown clock on our madness at?))
From her vantage point in the dump, Landrae see's Elber return with a city guard. She motions to Kai to take a look over. Seeing them enter the building, Landrae gets up to follow and in doing so Kai follows suit, both understanding that there is something sorely amiss here. Upon re-entering the building Landrae hears Elber and Jack...
Wisdom Save: 5
At the top of the ladder, Landrae is overcome by a true dread of going back to see the slaughter. She stops, then changes direction and climbs out of the basement. Hearing the cacophony as Elber starts to redesign the basement layout, Landrae slams the trap door shut, quivering with fear but given strength by her state if panic, and hunts around for something heavy to place on top of it.
Investigation: 3 (Disadvantaged because of mental state)
Her addled mind sees the slime of the Manes start to ooze through the trappdoor, rising between the small gaps in the wood. She can't fathom any other means to keep the seeping good away, so throws the rug back over it to hide it from sight and curls up into a ball, cowering in the corner of the kitchen.
Chaos erupts inside the basement. The guard staggers away, muttering about maniacs, and makes a break for the door. Seconds before he reaches the trapdoor, however, Landrae slams it shut. The guard snaps. "Let me out!" He screams, only adding to Landrae's increasingly degenerative mental state. "They're mad!"
Duncan tackles Elber to the ground but the mighty barbarian tosses him into the wall like a sack of potatoes.
"Enough! The One-Eyes have this thing right, steel be the true defense against magic." Elber finally gets a grip of himself and grips his sword, giving Duncan and Jack a glance before turning towards the alchemist. "To free you, I do this."
((Honestly, with Jack's withdrawal, Duncan's failed grapple, the guard fleeing the scene, and Landrae and Kai being away/upstairs, Elber will straight up execute Fosa to to put an end to what he believes are the alchemist's foul enchantments. Also, any easy Religion check should be enough to know that 'the One-Eyes' refer to the one-eyed orc shamans of Gruumsh, normally something Elber only names while cursing, but orcs do know how to handle mages properly.))

Landrae is still cowering in the corner, but the moments of quiet afforded to her by shutting the trapdoor and throwing the rug over it have helped her gather some of her wits about her again.
10 - Wis check
As Landrae hears the guard shouting to be let out, she takes a deep breath, stands up, and thinks back. She uses Disguise Self on herself to look like Captain Alais. Adopting her brusque manner and then shouting back, "Hold on soldier, Alais will have you free in an instant." Landrae pulls back the rug, opens the hatch, and looks down to the guard. "Good work, Alais is glad to see you assisting this operation. Now Alais has need to talk to these citizens alone, they were instructed to avoid any trouble but it appears they misheard." Landrae stands with her hands on her hips, tapping her foot impatiently as the guard finishes climbing up into the kitchen, "Go back to your post immediately, do not include mention of this when you report in at the end of your watch. Alais will handle things here on, your deeds are noted. Now move on."

Odd, 1st one gave me an error. Either way I failed
Jack can’t take it anymore. He looks up from his sitting position on the floor and yells “Shut up! Stop it, stop it!” covering his ears and then squints his eyes shut in focused concentration. “It’s not real, it’s not real” he thinks to himself over and over.
Kai, from his vantage by Landrae, decides to try a long shot and casts Charm on Elber, "Friend Elber, calm yourself. Now is the time for calm, before this madness results in further death."
