Kai responds to Jack, "They speak of necromancy, and the man's desire to study." Kai shakes his head sadly, "More of the unnatural. Tell me friend, you are more widely traveled than I, are all human towns so rife with people seeking to unbalance nature?"
Jack tilts his head at Kai, “Well I don’t know about well traveled, but I have lived in cities for most of my life. What I have come to see is that people want more. They get bored with there lives and want to add to it. More money, more knowledge or just more fun. The ones I have become weary of are the ones that want more power. Some do it to make things better, but far too many seek more power but don’t know what to do with it. And that my friend are the most dangerous people I have come across. Idiots with power are like a bear with rabies.”
At this point I'd say Duncan is mostly half listening in, and half focused on his thoughts while continuing to drink waiting for their meeting with Elron.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"If it is a job you want to discuss then it is 'our business' to us, and we are very particular when it comes to matters of business. What does this necromancer need to be capable of, how far are you willing to travel, why could this Grubble not tell you want you needed to know? All are questions that we would need answered were we to do business together. However, I find your tone disrespectful, and your manner too candid to be entirely honest. We have other clients to tend to, so either tender an offer of employment and answer our questions, or wait another three years."
Landrae gets up to leave the table and return to the table with the others.

Kai looks up, hearing the raised voices, "Trouble again, it seems. Be ready to distract friend Elber., as fisticuffs here will bring in the constables."
Kai looks around to see you else has noticed the raised voices, and if any has reacted.
The man leaps to his feet and shoves a handful of silver coins (10) in Landrae's hand. "Tell me were I can find a necromancer and we can part ways." He says.
Landrae looks at the paltry sum stuffed into her hand. "You can never attain the knowledge you seek. For a man cannot search either for what he knows or for what he does not know. He cannot search for what he knows—since he knows it, there is no need to search—nor for what he does not know, for he does not know what to look for." Then, pausing after each word to drop a coin from her hand and letting the sound die before she speaks again... "Now...Go... Skulk... Around... A graveyard... You... Pitiful... Wretched... Worm".
Landrae turns her back on the man and walks back to the table where the others are watching the scene, "That may be the easiest silver I have ever earned." She places the last silver piece onto the table, "My round I guess."
"So boys, how are we feeling about this Scorpion business? I think it would benefit us to collate our thoughts before Elron get here, then we are able to be more direct in questions towards his patron... Lady Ardidd, if I recall correctly? I for one am virtually spent, so need to take a rest tonight before I can be much use to you all. As Elber mentioned earlier, we are still pretty well stocked from the travel here, so unless Duncan wants to peruse the wares of the local armourers before we leave, we can set out at first light." Then Landrae concludes her thoughts thinking of how to draw the brigands out and simplify their search, "Mayhap this Lady Ardidd could provide us with a branded wagon of goods to act as bait, and save our legs a little on the way"
"A spare wagon be useful, but if this lady Ardidd be as forthcoming as Elron, our questions will remain unanswered and our feet shall be wet. But if she be of clear mind and just intent, she will tell us what she can and leave the rest to us."
"Bait for a trap. 'Tis a good plan, should the wagon be provided. But so many guards for one wagon? I think it will arise suspicion. Mayhap, one or two of the more stealthy might go on ahead some ways tonight and hide, while others hide themselves amongst the goods. Should trouble start, those in the wagon spring their trap. Bandits may suspect such a move, but would they then expect a second trap?"
Kai shakes his head ruefully.
"Sorry, I am, I have not yet mastered the changing of shape to animal."
"After such a recent attack it is plausible that more guards would be requested, and one wagon driver, with up to 4 guards is not all that many if the cargo is rich enough. Though I do appreciate the layers of having multiple surprises, like any good plot twist, it isn't the first one that makes the crowd gasp, but the one they didn't expect. I would be confident that Jack or I could hide amidst the nearby brush, and surely Elber could manage as such. Though as I said, I am spent and would not travel out tonight."
The mans face twists in anger. Spitting on the floor, he storms out of the inn, slamming the door behind him.
Several hours later Elron makes his entrance a few minutes after six, panting heavily. Locating your table, he falls into a chair with an audible sigh. "I have secured an audience with the good lady." He announces. "She wishes to speak with you as soon as time permits."
Duncan will add, a bit into his cups, "a night's rest is more than needed. And we made no promises about speed. I am more than ready to face this Scorpion. You all should talk it out. I need another drink." And will order another pint, still recovering from the madness.

Elber nods as Landrae continues, acknowledging that she is in the right to ask further questions despite the accusatory tone of the suspicious man.

The man becomes increasingly suspicious. "What's it to you? Just do your job and tell me where I can find a necromancer. "

Elber halts, waiting to see the surely scathing reply from Landrae at such a pityful offering.
