I regret to announce that I'm going to have to discontinue this campaign. I've had a decreasing number of opportunities to post recently, and as a result I've had to wrap up several of my PbP campaigns. I had a great time playing with you all, but life has an irritating habit of interfering in these things.
Folks, I am gutted to see this group come to a close... It was my first and favourite PbP group. If anyone is up for it, I'd be happy to try my hand at the DM side and keep things running? Never dome it before, but if you're willing to try, I am.
@JJ, No problem. In all things, life has a way of rebalancing your priorities at times, and you have got to do what's best for you. If people want to continue this, I'd love for you to roll up a PC and take the easier side of the screen for a bit.

Agreed on both counts! I wasn't planning to unsubscribe just cause I wanna keep y'all around. I wouldn't be opposed to transitioning to something. We can make a story together ^^
I’m definately good w continuing. We have a good group, I am very interested to see what happens next :)
JJ, thanks for taking things on and getting us together on a pretty fun adventure. We all have other things that need to be prioritized, so I hope things get more balanced for ya. Much appreciated for the time and effort you put forth.
Ok, I'll start putting something together and tie it in with the world JJ has given us. For the time being, I hope everyone can stand around in the cold a little longer.
((Folks, new players have been invited. As such, I'm going to get you all out of the rain... Landrae's shirt will be drenched through and her hair is going to be hell to deal with n the morrow! I have amended a bit about the approach to the town, and summed it up in the spoiler below.))
Castle Conwe comes into view on noon of the second day as you crest a rise on the main road. Some distance away still, and on the other side of a river, you make out a crumbling stone structure that rises from a craggy hill like rotten teeth in the maw of a monster. The road you are leads down to a bridge where you can cross the river, then on continues past the ominous visage of the castle, but you can see a fork some ways away that cuts back on the road as it branches towards a small town which lies in the path between yourselves and the castle. The light rain which began to fall but a short while ago, is quickly turning into a drenching torrent. The settlement, which you know to have simply taken the name of the castle, Conwe, rests at the bottom of the hill and had presumably grown from the dwellings of servants and tradesfolk that would have toiled at the castle in it's heyday. With no obvious track around the town to the castle and the weather worsening rapidly, you continue along the road taking the fork up towards the town and the castle beyond.
As you reach the wooden gate of the town, almost an hour after first seeing the castle, you are soaked to the bone. Your calls to the gate seem unheeded and you spy no movement on the watch tower set a short distance back from the wall. After several minutes of waiting in the downpour a small wooden door beside the gate creaks open. You are greeted, in the loosest sense of the term, by a surly looking man, his balding pate has rain running down it onto his hood-less cloak
"What business have you in Conwe?" He demands, holding a lantern above his head, the storm having hidden the noon sun.
"We have been sent by a dwarf named Jeb from Thithladroth to lend aid." says Kai cutting to the heart of the matter.
"Jeb? Who's that to me?" The man asks suspiciously. "And you're a decade to late to lend aid, by my reckoning."
“What ails this place? We were tasked to come see if we could help by friends of your lord. Can you at least invite us in out of this weather and we can discuss it over a hot drink? My name is Jack and my friends here... I will let introduce themselves. We are all here to assist any way we are able, I assure you.” Jack queries the watchman.
Duncan swiftly adds "And what is it that so worries you that you will not open the gate for travelers stuck in this weather?"
"Bah, why does everyone answer questions with more questions! We ain't no refuge for wannabe adventuring types, we've had troubles a plenty for more than a few years and ain't no guild or friendly lords sent folk to help yet! So when a group o' strongers shows up askin fer the door t' be opened, it ain't that I be worried so much as I be doing my job to see what they be wantin'!" A droplet of rain hanging from his bushy eyebrows falls into his eye and forces him to pause whilst he wipes it away. "Jack, be it? Yer can find a hot drink at the Dancing Horse, they have a stall out back that yer can stable yer beasts in. Frst building on the left before the well. I'd tell you all not to cause any trouble... don't look like the sort to listen though." The man disappears for a moment and then the main gate opens ponderously, creaking at the hinges and shaking more water into the pools of mud that have formed in the rutted track into town.
As the party pass, Elber repeats his question, "And Isabeau?"
"Don't expect me to remember ever lass that passes these parts, that name don't ring no bells."
From your approach to the town, you know it to be a simple enough layout, with a single main street cutting the town down the middle, and a few small streets off to each side. There are some protected pastures within the walls, and a small dock as the town touches the banks of the river.
"Is it troubles made him so unfriendly or his unfriendlyness made for troubles. Either way, lets head to the Inn. He won't be the first person we help despite themselves.

“As long as we go inside” says Jack as he is looking very unhappy about standing out in the rain waiting
After several minutes of waiting in the drenching rain, a small wooden door beside the gate creaks open, revealing a balding man in a cloak.
