Well, it's either lose the hit points by transforming back or by fall damage, so he'll take the fall damage (at 34 hp, chances of losing all of them are pretty low). He'll jump down after everyone else, but here's the damage roll: 26
ETA: Wow, if only I wanted to damage something! 8 hp left in this form.
Shale gives himself a quick blessing from his goddess and climbs down after Squiggles, leaving Celric to look after himself and Flynt for the climb down. "See y'all below."
Spinning down with surprising ease, Squiggles lands softly on Shale, and wonders what the hell happened as he peers down at the now horribly disfigured cat.
"Did you, uh, get into a fight with yourself Shale?"
(OOC: Jarl is the cat. Shale didn't take any damage on the way down.)
So we have Balian who fell a long way but somehow managed to land on his feet (Reliable Talent obviates the need for an acrobatics check!), Squiggles, Shale, Flynt, and Celric making their way down the rope, and Jarl-as-heavily-injured-crag-cat waiting at the top for everyone else to get down so he can jump down.
Will have an update for you soon... not sure if I'll manage it today, but probably by tomorrow.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The group starts down the rope, Balian taking the lead, followed by Squiggles, Shale, Flynt, Celric, and finally Jarl-the-crag-cat. Just before Flynt gets onto the rope, Balian loses his grip on the rope and falls 50 ft down onto solid rock. Somehow his lightning fast reflexes and acrobatic training enable him to land on his feet. At the bottom he sees a large chamber which stretches farther than he can see with his half-elven darkvision. He is situated on the southern end of the chamber and can see two large round pools, about 40' in diameter, to his northwest and northeast, separated by a narrow strip of stone about 5' wide at its narrowest point. Further north before the darkness obscures his vision, he can see the edges of two more round pools, about the same size and each separated from its southern neighbor by stone which is about 5' wide at the narrowest. (Squiggles sees all of this as well; Shale, I can't remember if you have a light source up? The others are not yet on the rope so they can only see straight down where Balian is standing.)
Of more immediate concern, however, is the goblin barbarian standing between Balian and a couple of charred pieces of wood on the ground. The familiar face has an unfamiliar expression in its eyes; vacant and emotionless. As the half-elf lands, his old friend brandishes a rapier in his direction, getting ready to strike, but without the sense of rage that would normally fuel such a maneuver.
(for YoFizz and AI, the goblin barbarian is Brix, a former party member who disappeared under mysterious circumstances while the group was exploring the tunnels leading up to the teleportation circle)
Squiggles is 50 ft up; Shale 55; Flynt just getting onto the rope; Celric and Jarlcat are still in the room above.
Balian, you are quick enough to react preemptively before Brix can attack you. Everyone else: you can descend the rope at half your speed per turn (or full speed if you use an action to dash), or jump down to reach the ground instantly but take falling damage (1d6 per 10'). If you jump you'll need to make an acrobatics check of DC 2 * (distance / 10') to avoid landing prone. With a purposeful jump you can avoid hitting anyone below you. Since Squiggles is slow to react, I will say that if you want to climb down behind him you can "ready" your movement to follow immediately behind him on his turn and take an action from where you end up if you have one available. You can attack with a ranged weapon or spell from on the rope if you want, as long as it only requires one hand.

OOC - DM, you've confused me. :) I assume the sentence in the last post that starts "You can descend the rope at half your speed per turn..." applies to everyone else, not me, and should be read as "Everyone else can descend the rope at half your speed per turn..."
Also, I'm adjusting your post for dramatic effect, please forgive me. :)
Despite falling 50 feet, Balian's cat-like instincts kick in, and he twists to land in a crouching position, feet wide apart, supporting his weight with one hand on the floor, one hand stretched out behind his back (I hope everyone is envisioning a typical superhero landing here). Suitably satisfied with his efforts, his eyes begin to adjust to the gloom, the thief nearly jumping out of his skin when he realises Brix is standing right next to him.
"Brix! Where in the Nine Hells have you been?!" Balian looks up to the rest of his companions, an excited look on his face. "Brix is down here!"
Balian starts excitedly updating his goblin friend on the groups shenanigans in his absence, their two new dragonborn companions, the aboleth, the traps in the last room, but trails off when continues to get no response from the barbarian. A puzzled look on his face, Balian takes out a silver coin and flicks it at Brix's face. The goblin doesn't react, and it hits him square on the forehead, at which point he draws his blade.
"Brix? Hey I know we didn't look that hard for you, but you're like a bad smell, we could never get rid of you, even if we tried."
Puzzled at his friend's behaviour (and lack of profanities), Balian attempts to work out what Brix's deal is.
Can Jarl hold his action until Brix is under the hole and jump on him? I don’t suppose I can use the full Pounce ability of the Crag Cat, but I could still give Brix bludgeoning damage from falling on him?
As you focus on Brix's face to try to get a read on what's going on with him, it occurs to you that the drider you fought in the cavern earlier had a similar empty look in its eyes.
Jarl:
Yeah, you could ready that action, although something would have to move Balian out of the way (or he'd have to move on his next turn) for the trigger to be met before your next turn. I would say falling on him would qualify as a pounce, and with a successful attack roll you and he would split the falling damage (in addition to the damage he would take from the attack itself).
Squiggles clumsily grabs the rope and starts to descend

Yes, right, you're on the ground. Sorry, yeah, rereading that it was phrased poorly. I edited to clarify.

So it’s just a straight drop then, no diagonal to the movement allowed? If so, then readying the action it is.
