"Settle please my friends," the Gentleman says using an over familiarity with everyone that either gives you confidence or makes you uncomfortable. "I have a task for you," he adds once/if everyone sits.
OOC: So, I've got 3 dozen sugar cookies to bake/decorate that I just got asked to do today and the fam Xmas party Sunday as well so I'll be MIA today and most of tomorrow. Have a GREAT weekend!!

"Settle? Why thank you "The Gentleman," I shall." Suerte tugs at the fleece in his color and spins in place, making an arcane sign as he does so... Shimmering into view is a curtain about four and a half feet long, of an aquatic motif, hanging on a circular curtain rod of about a five foot diameter, encircling Suerte, covering him from his shoulders to just about his knees. It's a minor illusion of sorts.
Suerte quickly doffs his costume, and puts on his standard traveling clothes, all within a minute. It's a practiced practice. He listens to the ongoing conversation as it happens, finally sitting down when he's done. As he sits he smiles and whispers, "Settled."
Raxil cocks his head as the wizard attempts some form of humor. "Stop using all them big words. No one knows what the hell you're talking about."
Skye jerks her thumb in the goblin's direction. "What he said. Though hey, you never know. That was probably funny to someone out there who understood it." She pats Seurte on the shoulder.
She glances in the other air genasi's direction, before taking a seat at the Gentleman's table when he beckons them. She sits across from him with a grin ready for whatever he might throw at them.

"All will become equal now" | "Cause we're going to shout it loud, even if our words seem meaningless. It's like we're carrying the weight of the world"
"An object has gone missing on it's way here," the Gentleman begins again. "It went missing near Felderwin," he adds then sighs steepling his blue hands giving the party a serious look. "My former associates who were meant to deliver it have also gone missing. It's....a sensitive business," he continue still without a smile now on his handsome face. "It's a...a bag," he adds next rubbing the bridge of his nose as he pauses. "My former associates are recognizable. They're gnomes....ALL gnomes but the ring leader is an elderly human man," he explains. "Do not let their jolly appearance fool you," he adds next. "They are...resourceful and dangerously close to folk heroes among the people but THE BAG IS MINE," he adds his hands turning into fists on the table a flash of anger on his face before composing himself. "Questions," he then asks relaxing into his chair.
"Please describe this bag in detail, because there are a lot of bags out there. Also, when you say bag, do you really mean the stuff IN the bag, and not the bag itself? See, one time I brought just the bag because that's what I was told, but it turned out it was only because no one wanted to tell me what was in the bag and so I left it behind hoping it'd distract people as I made my escape, which worked, but when I made it back I was put to scrub floors for a month... with a toothbrush. And if what you actually want is what's in the bag, you should describe the contents, too?" Suerte asks when he can.
"What he said."Skye tilts her head in Suerte's direction. "Is there anything in it, or is it just a bag. What kind of bag? Also you're sure it's probably your guys who took it? Or could they have, like, beefed it real big time?" She slides a finger across her throat on that last line, sticking out her tongue for extra emphasis.

"He wears red robes mostly and a hat. Tne gnomes are usually dressed alike..." the Gentleman pauses to sigh, "listen I kniw his it all sounds," he adds his tone full of frustration! "The bag is red too and of course it's enchanted. There's nothing else you need to know about this bag other than it's MINE," he gets slightly louder for emphasis, "and my....former associate took it," he adds leaning forward in his chair. "This," he then says waving Cree over again, "is for each of you 500 gold pieces up front and another 500 on delivery, EACH," he adds curtly pushing over a bag of platinium. "I need the bag as soon as possible," he adds next leaving the bag in the middle of the table with his hand on it. "But before I let you go there's just one more thing," he adds as another person appears a thin drow that seems to materialize out of the shadows holding rolls of parchment. "This job is your official entrance into my....little business. Sign these," he explains next rolling out contracts that the drow hands over, "and sign with these," he adds next as the drow produces a box of interesting looking pens!
The Gentleman and his two attendants then wait for the group to sign as magically all the contracts appear then unroll in front of each of you.
Examining the parchment it says in common:
I the hereby undersigned agree to the task brought before me and will complete said task to the best of my abilities in a timely manner. I forfeit all rights to first as well as second payment to the contractor if I, the hereby undersigned, fail to complete said task or in any way hinder this task from being completed by others.
There's then a line for your name.
OOC: You've worked for the Gentleman before but NEVER thought you'd be offered a 'position' within his ranks!!
As he picks up a pen to sign his name, Suerte says, "Ooo, a contract - you've never had me signed a contract before. So, basically, if we don't succeed, we need to give you back the upfront payment and we won't be getting that second payment. Sure, why not?"
As he finishes signing, "So, just to be clear, the objective is the bag - if we have to empty the bag out to complete the mission, that works /would be okay."
Skye stares at the contract. Loche would kill her for officially joining a criminal organization. Or at least give her a good scolding. But 500 gold is hard to pass up and so is 1000. There's a lot she could do with that money, there's a lot they could do with that money. And for a chance to be near the war front on top of it. This war has the potential to bring about great change on Wildemount, and Skye wants to be there to see it. And here's the perfect opportunity.
Still, she can practically hear her brother's nagging in the back of her mind. "Count me in, but uh, what does officially entering the biz entail?"

"Who's the one who did you wrong,"Raxil asks the Gentleman. "One them gnomes? I like them little folk," the irony is clearly lost on the little goblin. "They're easy to toss overboard."He then looks at the bag of coins that each is getting up front, and then at the handful of coppers he won. He scratches his head as he considers the offer. "Those seem shinier than this little pile." He steps up and happily signs with an "X" for his name.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Flute carefully looks over the contract, then up at the Gentleman. He politely asks, "Will I still be able to complete this errand for you without signing the contract? After all, no disrespect, but my duty is first and foremost to Saranrae. The few missions I have done for you before, as with this one, is with her permission."
"Sign or leave," the Gentleman says flatly. "Your God or whatever it is your reasons for holding back is not my concern. The contract is so I am assured you don't double cross me," he adds his fists clenched as the drow and tabaxi give the Gentleman a wary look before looking at Flute puzzled expression. Turning to Skye next, " you'll be...privileged to be among my associates. You will come to understand what my favor will grant you," he adds a smiling flicker over his blue face.
Everyone who's signed your name or mark appears with a sharp pain on the back of your hand the 'ink' the color of your blood.

"Ouch!"Raxil rubs the back of his hand, then brings it to his mouth, trying to sooth the pain.

With an eager smile Raxil sits near the Gentleman. He is ready to prove his worth more than just someone to bounce the rowdy drunks out.
