Alright, now where getting somewhere.Kelvingrins to himself gleefully as he listens to his companions before speaking up. "Alright then! It seems we've deduced a reasonable explanation for Vonn's condition. I for one think it's obvious that whatever tincture of sleep what was used here is the same these cultists of the 'new morning' were going to use for their slumber. Being such," he continues, meeting everyone's eye in turn. "I think finishing our exploration of this building is in order; I'd personally like to see these dormitories we saw described. If these people were going to enchant their way into sleep, they must have had some way to break it." He turns to Theo. "I'll leave the restorative ruminations to a holy man such as yourself."

"Yes, now that we have a plausible reason for Voll's affliction, let's investigate the rest of this - temple," Zakon says. "They certainly have gone to a lot of trouble to keep this place safe while they slept. Which means, I would think, that they must be here somewhere," he says, his eyes wandering around the area. "So - the veranda first?"
The thought of a bunch of ancient clerics lying around somewhere in an enchanted sleep is not one Viayafinds particularly settling but even if they've found what has affected Vall, there is potential that they might yet find a cure to it somewhere in the temple that they haven't explored. As such, she's quick to agree to clearing the rest of the old place. Turning to eye the way they have not yet explored. "The veranda first." She agrees, stepping that way before pausing briefly and looking to Kelvin. "Anything we should be wary of before going out there?"

"Hmmm...Something about swinging scythe blades if I recall." Kelvin replies to the elf."We should be out the lookout for any tripwires or other triggers, and mind the doorway on our way out." The sorcerer reenters the building, making his way carefully around the false floor. Keeping a careful eye on the door and floor around it, he takes a cautious step forward.

Theo hears the sorcerer mention "swinging scythe blades" and immediately takes up his shield again. He nods to Ruggero, the only one in what he would consider protective armor. He appreciates the sorcerer's exuberance and the nimble confidence of zakon and viaya but he has some doubts about whether this is going to be as simple as reading a scroll. He follows closely enough to offer assistance if something should go wrong.
Ruggero, recalling the arrow trap rigged to the door, makes sure to prop the door open on your way out, thereby allowing you to enter from the outside without having an unpleasant surprise. The rest of you file out onto the veranda. What once must have been a charming sun-kissed veranda is now overgrown with vines and briars. Five nearly identical statues stand along the edge of the veranda depicting a proud-standing Corellon. Short flights of stairs lead down into the gloom of the woods. A small animal skeleton rests next to the statue at the southerly end of the veranda, a scythe already sticking out of the base of the statue.

"This looks a bit more promising," Zakonsays, looking around. "It's overgrown, so no one has been here for a while, and there are stairs leading down - perhaps to the cellar and the sleeping men?"he asks. He will move towards the stairs, looking around carefully as he does. "Ready to go down?" he asks.
Zakon: While the overgrown vines and plants are pretty thick, you cut and pull away a few to find only solid rock behind them.
Theo: Looking at the path, you see that it winds back around toward the front of the building where you had come in.
I'm starting to realize there may be some confusion here, and that's fine if it's just the characters who are a little confused, but I do want to clear things up before we keep using some really good rolls looking for something that isn't there. I believe most of you are referring to this document when everyone was in the scriptorium:
Everything is prepared for the ritual. It has taken many months to get the potion just right as elves do not sleep. But we are ready. I must still check with Hol down in the cellar to ensure all of the preventative measures are in order. I wouldn't want any of those traps going off on our own after we awaken. I must also make sure the awakening feast is ready and that Gren has placed a preservation spell on it. So much to do, but the New Morning waits for no one.
Notice that there is no mention of dormitories or sleeping quarters in here. All it says is that he's going down to the basement to check that all "preventative measures" are made and that no traps go off. You found the trapmaker's workshop down in the basement, which is where all deterrents to strangers were made. None of the documents mentioned where exactly the dormitories are. I'll try to be clearer in the future.

"Perhaps we should check the upstairs of the building, if that seems to be the only place we haven't looked." Theo felt that they would get things figured out here eventually. Luckily Kelvin had the notes regarding the traps.
Thanks for the upfront update Steve. It seems you're implying that we might be barking up the wrong tree as far as searching for these sleeping quarters here, but I'm gonna roll with the RP that at least Kelvin has drawn some perhaps tenuous conclusions from the document and thinks he's about to stumble on some sleeping elves because either way I wanna keep exploring the building. Also there's no such thing as wasting good rolls ;)
"Damn, it looks like this path might just wind back to the entrance, good find Theo." Kelvin smiles at the warpriest. "I'm going to examine these statues briefly, and then I agree; let's head upstairs." He approaches the statues, hoping to gleam any insight as to their purpose.
Theo eyes the statues suspiciously. This place had him wary of statuary. They should complete whatever task lay before them so they could proceed. "Did your notes say if traps were on stairs?"
That's fine, Kelvin. Characters bumbling around is one thing, but I didn't want you all to get to hooked on a clue that wasn't there. Also, which statue are you approaching and how close are you getting to it?

Frustrated that the searching seems to lead in circles, Zakon turns and heads back towards the interior of the building. He nods in agreement with Theo's question. "Yes, it seems the only place we haven't checked is upstairs. Let's hope the upstairs isn't as booby-trapped as down here," he says, smiling grimly.
"I say Theo takes the lead," the silver-scaled sorcerer says, giving the half-orc a glance. "Not as a lamb, you just seem best suited. Do you have any spells of guidance or resistance?" And with that, Kelvin proceeds inside with a magnanimous sweep of his arm gesturing his companions to follow. "Up, aloft!"

Theo would suggest the rogue go up the stairs to check for traps or surprises. Sounds like we never made it pass the veranda before a statue attacks.
