Viaya'seyes widen as Kelvin, flashing a cavalier grin and flippant comment over his shoulder, steps through the doorway his magic failed to have any effect on before any of them can stop him. The elf recoiling as the fool sorcerer is blown backwards off his feet and across the floor a little ways. Missing the pit in the floor thank the gods, but still. Her earlier confidence seems to have been at least somewhat misplaced. "Is that what you call luck?" she demands, stepping away from the others and toward the downed man. Who thankfully doesn't look too worse for the wear though hopefully has been left a little wiser at least. Glaring at him, she scowls. "How about idiocy? That could've been anything. Could've done anything. I thought we agreed to be careful?"

"Kelvin, excellent job finding this amulet." Theo reaches down and picks up the amulet and inspects it.
Theo looks around the doorway for anything unusual, or a place that the amulet might be of use. Also looking to see if the ward looks to still be in place.
Saw an opportunity for RP and character development, not gonna be the problem character :)
Kelvin, the playful grin gone from his face, grimaces as he stands up, brushing the debris from his cloak. He briefly meets the elf's eye with a weak and abashed smile. "I might not have had as full a grasp on the ward as I thought..."Idiot, Kelvin! He curses at himself internally. Now is not the time to show off, you could have been knocked into the pit or worse. Aunt Joule was right, I'm gonna end up getting myself in trouble and that's exactly what I came to Goyag to avoid.
Seeing the amulet on the floor, Kelvin attempts to break the tension of his mishap.
You're totally fine! ^^ I thought it was hilarious, Viaya just isn't much of a risk taker. Plus she genuinely doesn't want to see anyone in this little bunch get hurt where it could be avoided. Kelvin's no problem character, they're just two different people. Plenty of opportunity for RP and character development there.
"You don't say?" Viaya replies, arching a brow as Kelvinpicks himself up. The fact that he's up and moving already alleviating most of her lingering concern. A fair amount of the irritation remains but again, that's not really only hisfault either. It's been a long few days and the very thought of seeing someone else get hurt where she might prevent it makes her stomach churn. What if that charm had truly been dangerous? Not just to him but to the rest of them as well? They need to be cautious, not go rushing into things headlong. Is about to explain as much to the embarrassed sorcerer when he points out the amulet. The elf blinking at the sight of it before looking back to him. Softening, somewhat. "That's something. As for walking through magicked doorways, least give us a chance to talk you out of it next time." Leaves it at that, peering over Theo's shoulder as he picks it up. "What do you think it does?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Awesome, dcatt and I had a problem with a player in another game so I just figured I'd make my OOC intentions clear :)
"Aye, that I can agree to," Kelvinchuckles, literally licking his wounds. He takes a cautious step toward the doorway, trying to sense if any residual magick remains.
Heart in his mouth, Zakon watches Kelvin trigger something and get thrown across the floor. Seeing that he is mostly unhurt, Zakon gives a reluctant chuckle. "You're a lucky lad, aren't ye?"he says, with a slight grin at Kelvin. Seeing Theo pick up the amulet, he says, "Lucky indeed." He agrees with Viaya, but perhaps he's gotten too old or too jaded to take foolish chances. Ah, well, no harm done, he thinks.
Good RPing is strongly encouraged here. That was what made my one foray into playing PbP in the adventure, Platinum Plated Keys, so much fun. Good group chemistry and RPing really helped make that pop as a story rather than just a game.
Theo: You notice a stone right above the door frame with a carved symbol of a starburst inside a quarter moon. Not that it's unusual in a place like this, but you don't see this same symbol over the doors to the hall or the veranda. The shimmer of the warding spell still holds. You think, If I was a member of this temple and wanted to keep enemies out, but allow other followers in, how would I do it? As for the amulet itself, it too has symbols of Corellon on it and it is made of some cheap but sturdy metals. Hand-crafted, it appears. Other than it's age, there's nothing else to be noted about it.

Eyeing the amulet as Theoholds it out to her and then the doorway once again, Viayais starting to think they may've have gotten lucky after all. Lucky the doorway simply knocked Kelvinright into finding this amulet instead of frying him that is. Looking up at the sorcerer's suggestion, Viayahesitates a moment and then nods. "Worth a try. Though I do wonder if it has to be worn by an actual person in order to function."Hismage hand had gotten through just fine on its own last time after all. It was flesh and blood the charm had turned on.

"Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?" Zakon says. "Let's try it and see. Leastways it won't be Kelvin getting thrown across the floor this time, yeah?" he says with a lopsided grin.
"If you all are ready to catch, I'm ready to give it a go." Kelvincasts mage hand and carries the amulet through the barrier, positioning himself in order to catch it if it bounces back.

Zakonagrees with the notion and Viayawatches as Kelvinfloats the amulet through the barrier without resistance. Again, this proves that the barrier doesn't react to the nonliving and nothing more but it adds to the evidence that the amulet might be the key to passing something living through it as well. "So it and your magic can pass through." The elf remarks. "Now we need to see if anything else can." She holds out a hand. "Let me see it Kelvin, please."

Stepping cautiously forward, the elf attempts move past the threshold of the magicked doorway, gripping the amulet itself in one hand.

The magic prickles against her skin somewhat as she moves through it but it doesn't lash out at her like it did at Kelvin. Granting her access to the hallway beyond without resistance. Smile returning, Viayaturns back to face her companions, unlooping the chain of the amulet from around her wrist. "Here,"She tosses it back through the entryway to Kelvin. "Come on through. We should clear things down this way before trying the other corridors."Which likely will come with their own traps and dangers as well. This corridor and the room it opens up into seem like a good bet for gathering more information about what they're dealing with at least.
