After looking over the scrolls briefly, Viayatucks them into her pack and follows the others back out of the Scriptorium and down the hallway into the kitchen. Eyeing the dusty but somehow still fresh looking food warily and the two staircases even more so. Hesitantly nodding her agreement to heading downstairs. "That seems our most likely option for finding out what's rotten here. Zakon and I should check the steps for traps before we start down though. This would be a nasty place to miss something like that pit back in the entry chamber."

Viaya Morbrew - Imela: The Adventure Begins - High Elf/Rogue (Level 1)
You make your way down to the basement. The first room you come to is a storage room. Boxes are piled high in the corners of this dank cellar, and there is a large set of shelves along the back wall with a few odds and ends. A door leads to the south, covered by an iron portcullis, with a winch next to it.
Zakon: You notice something peculiar about the floor. A few of the stone tiles are a bit out of place just in front of the winch and the door. After all the traps you've encountered so far, you're pretty sure that somehow the floor will drop when attempting to open the door. However, you also notice a smaller lever in the corner of the room, just behind some of the boxes.
Alright, it was just easier to give you a whole picture of the basement. You are in the first room up on the top of the map. The door with the portcullis is on C3 and the winch is on C4. Zakon, that means that the floor you notice out of place is on B3 and B4.

Zakon stops suddenly as he reaches the end of the stairs. “There’s a trap here. Some sort of plate in the floor that drops. Let me see if I can disarm it.“

"Hold Zakon, in your admittedly skilled attempt. I have a feeling that lever off in the corner of the room might disable this trap. What do you all think?" Kelvinlooks around at the rest of the party as a spectral mage hand materializes in the air next to him, though it doesn't yet act. He will also walk up to the shelf [A4] and peer closely inspecting the odds and ends for anything that catches his eye.

Zakon: Working diligently and quickly, you disarm the trap, allowing for you and the rest of the group to use the winch to lift the portcullis with no trouble.
Kelvin:Not much to see on the shelves. Just a few odds and ends. There is a shelf that must've served as a sort of wine cellar. There are a few wineskins stored around. But nothing else seems to be of particular interest.

I know, right? I mean, when I found this mission online, I thought it had a great backstory and was really adaptable for homebrew. Mechanically, though, it's kind of a hot mess that I wouldn't call "level 1" appropriate. But, you know what, it's a small miracle no one's died yet, so we'll keep rolling with it.
Looking across the way, it is a bit dark, but you can both make out a pile of spare parts and tools in the back corner of the next room. It was probably a workshop of some sort.

Viaya follows the others as they move down and through the basement level of the temple. Watching approvingly as Zakon handles the trap and the portcullis and following him cautiously into the room beyond. Eyes sweeping the shadowy reaches of the space before landing on the pile of spare tools and parts in the far corner.
