Cheers Mr Strix! Varinth nods to the Avian Anchorite and then downs an entire tankard of ale. What's my divvy? He rummages for his purse of monies.
Vaz will also pay for a bath but will ask that it be readied for the morning. And that it be cold. He then asks to be shown the room. He is happy to bunk with Strix. ( He is rather curious on how he might sleep.) Once shown the room Vaz will walk back to the bar, then back to the room, then back to the bar again, hoping to establish some muscle memory. With all that done, and his gear in his room, Vaz will lean on the bar and order another tankard of ale.
Please advise how much monies I should be taking off for all this.
Scupper had waited on the doorstep for the mood to soften and his mates to settle in before stirring the pot back a little.
Ah warm welcomes and open arms! Me feckin' Da would be proud!
Scupper will find himself a seat with his comrades. He's used to the cold welcome but usually tends to make it a little bit worse as a defense mechanism. So he gets comfy putting some of his gear aside and on the table: rapier, dagger, dagger...If anyone stares too long he'll make sure to unexpectedly lock eyes and leer before casually going back to his conversation.
I need meat! And please sir ifn' I could get some of the finest piss you have. Jest a wee cup for me since I'm jest a wee lad! So mates, I guess we have a couple o' days to enjoy the community here and make fast friends wit all these pleasant honest country folk. I can jest weep at te idea of findin' me true love, settlin' down and mayhaps startin' meself a farm .

Dekhan, the human woman was called Elsa by the innkeeper; she has disappeared into a back room, most likely a kitchen area; you hear the sounds of food being prepared.
The half-elf woman remained sitting at the table, finishing off a meal of what looks like a meat stew. She's looking around, a little bored now that her friend is gone. She has long brown hair, tied back in a pony tail, and is in her early thirties, wearing simple but well-made clothes which are a little more colourful than most. 11. She notices you looking at her, and stares back, her mouth twitching in apparent amusement.
Right away, sir, Tolben says hastily to Scupper; my girl will be bringing the meat and, um, ale in just a moment. He disappears into the back room and appears to be helping Elsa in order to hurry the work along. The halfling sat at a nearby table with his two friends does indeed stare too long at the weapons and catches your eye; he flinches visibly when he sees you return his gaze, and turns back to speak anxiously to the others.

Dekhan goes to pat Scup on the back I'll be back, friends, I'm going to see what the word around town is. He picks up his ale and crosses over to the half-elf. Hello miss, would you mind terribly if I sat with you a moment? Perhaps I could buy you a drink in return for answering a few questions? Persuasion 19You see I'm very new in town, and I would really appreciate any insight you could offer into the lay of theland?
Scupper will mellow out if no outright challenges are made to him. He will eat and drink until he's quite sociable...maybe a little too sociable...and then likely black out and either challenge the Black Spider to a pissing contest or do something otherwise inappropriate. He trusts his new friends so if they attempt to keep him out of trouble he'll argue...loudly...but do as they ask and probably pass out somewhere:
"I thought country folk were merry and gay!" "Where's the fertility festival?!" "You may tink halflin's are tiny but sure you never seen me pizzle!" "Ain't there usually some giant lout of a bloke wit more brawn than brains in these country towns what always tries to start a fight?!" "But I tell ya, Vaz, yer beast keeps eyeing me! I don't trust the humpty numpty!"
If left to his own, he'll commandeer a wagon or try to ride a goat through town or challenge that untrustworthy camel to a fight...and then pass out in a gutter somewhere. Ah civilization!
Dario finishes his mug of ale and lets out a little burp. His eyes slightly red looks over at Dekhan as he talks to the half-elf and then over as Scupper slowly devolves into a drunkard. He turns his attention towards Incantis and smiles at him "Drink it slow or before you know you'll be in a world of hurt. Also, I don't sleep, but we could share a room if you'd like."
Dario for the most part stays seated and slowly drinks mug of ale after mug of ale until it is time for his bath, which he'll take right away. He'll soak for a while and once done will return down stairs to see if Dekhan has found anything new out, to make sure Scupper isn't getting into any trouble, and Incantis is not vomiting in the corner.
Dekhan, the young woman's amusement turns swiftly to a brief flash of panic and then resolves into a kind of nervous blush as you sit down and greet her. I, um, yes, thanks muchly, I'll take a drink as you're offering. She hurriedly downs what's left of her ale, and waits as a new one is brought over. You and your mates just arrived? Don't see many like you folks, not here. She leans in and whispers: That halfling looks like a mean sonofa***** and no mistake. She leans back. The name's Freda. Freda the Weaver to people round here. I'm guessing you got no name, seeing as how you've not introduced yourself. Folks got no manners where you're from, eh? This is clearly meant as a joke, and she's obviously quite happy to sit and talk with you. So, what is it you're wanting to know? About the town? Or about me?
My apologies, Freda the Weaver, your enchanting nature had me at a loss, I’m afraid. I am Dekhan the adventurer and I am at your service. We did just arrive this day as a matter of fact. And Scupper he has a rough exterior to be sure, but beneath it beats the heart of true bastard. I jest, he is a stalwart companion and there’s no one I’d rather have on my side when the chips are down. As to what I’m wanting to know I’m hoping that finding about the town and you are not mutually exclusive. Dekhan gives 10cp to the waitress. Has there been anything out of the ordinary around town recently to your knowledge?
Scupper, no-one attempts to challenge you, and your table is given a bit of a wide berth as the afternoon turns into evening and more locals arrive; the room gets quite busy as time goes by. Elsa the barmaid, along with Tolben the innkeeper, bring out your food and ale. A woman introduces herself as Trilena, the innkeepers wife. She helps out behind the bar as Elsa serves the customers, and she also seems to be keeping an eye on a young boy she calls Pip. An elderly farmer comes in and sits near the bar, striking up a long conversation with Trilena that revolves mostly around his various minor ailments and their possible treatments. Trilena doesn't seem to mind, and may not actually be listening all that much.
Dario, Tolben eventually shows you to your bath around sunset, and you return to find the tavern's common room busy, noisy and smelly, but despite the presence of the unknown strangers, the locals appear to be relaxing and having a good time, keeping to themselves.
The first ale came with your meal and was covered by Strix from the party funds. Any more ale you buy costs four copper pieces for a mug, or two silver pieces for a gallon; please mark it off on your character sheets.
You're spending the afternoon and evening here at the inn and then heading to bed, right? And Strix and Vaz will share a room, as will Dario and Incantis, and also Scupper and Dekhan, is that right?
Let me know if you want to talk to any of the locals.
As the sun is setting, the inn's door opens and Sildar Hallwinter enters, looking tired but determined. He sees your group at the table and nods, ordering a drink from Elsa and joining you. I see you found the town's main attraction successfully, he says. And I have found what I owe you. He reaches into his coat and pulls out a coin purse, handing you 10 gold pieces each. Thank you once again for rescuing me, and for bringing me here.
If you didn't enter the money onto your sheets earlier when I gave it to you by mistake, please do so now. This is Sildar's reward of 10 GP to each party member for escorting him safely (ish) to Phandalin. That's separate from the 10 GP reward you each got from Elmer Barthan (on behalf of Gundren) for the delivery of the wagon of supplies.
Sildar spends about a half hour with you before taking his leave. I plan to remain in town for a while; there seem to be some things here that need sorting out; finding and rescuing Gundren the first among them. If I'm not here at the inn, you'll probably find me in the Townmaster's Hall near the square. It's easy enough to find, he says, and then mutters something to himself. I must go now to my rest. It's been a trying few days. If you don't have anything else to talk to him about tonight, he will stand and head to his room.
Varinth will, of course, revel in the antics with Mr Scupper and no mistake. It has been a while since he has had a drinking partner. Should we get to the point that Scupper feels that he has to take on Soodi, Vaz will happily sit back and watch with a knowing smile.

Freda laughs, and then stifles it in case Scupper overhears, and says, I reckon he's a nasty one with that blade at his belt. Not that I'm saying you're not and all. She takes in your armour, shield and the longsword, and her eyes widen; she takes another look at the group and their various weaponry. Are you... are you all here to deal with them? You know, and she leans in again and whispers so quietly you can barely hear her, the Redbrands I mean?
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dario, freshly cleaned and for the first time the party notices the richness of his copper skin and chestnut hair, makes his way through the crowded in towards Incantis and sits with him. He looks over at Dekhan as he talks to young woman. "Our friend Dekhan doesn't waster anytime does he?"he says with a chuckle. "Should we get another round?" Before Incantis can answer Dario gets up and heads to the bar. He ends up standing next to the elderly farmer as he speaks to Trilena. He tries to listen in on the conversation (Perception: 19) and then orders two male mugs of ale (-8cp).
The Redbrands? Dekhan leans in, matches Freda’s Level of discretion, and says in his best heroic tone. Freda, if they are menacing you then you can rest assured that we will menace them, that is our vow. What can you tell me about them, to give us an edge? Tell me anything you can, no matter how seemingly insignificant... you never now what could what piece of information could be the difference between life and death in a situation like this...
Incantis is overwhelmed. The simple revelry of the inn far surpasses any festivities that occurred in his cul--ahem sect. He stares, fascinated about him in all directions, polishing off his first mug off ale and watching Dario go up for a second round. Having never drank before, the first pitcher is enough to set a rosy glow to Incantis' normally pale cheeks, and replace his normally studiously blank expression with the beginnings of a goofy grin. As the evening goes on Incantis gets increasingly drunk off of the first two pitchers as well as a third he purchases (and a fourth for Dario as thanks). He proceeds to hit on a group of human women 18, and laughs for the first time in the party's recollection at a drunken exchange between Dario and Scupper. As the night goes on however the drink is hitting Incantis slightly for the worse and he begins to think longingly of the bath aforementioned.

Menacing me? Menacing the whole damned town, Master Dekhan. They showed up not two months past, and it's a bloody nightmare. Fighting in the street. Harassing business owners. Her fear of being overheard is warring with her fury, and losing. Every business in town. Well, except the Miner's Exchange; they don't need the kind of trouble Halia Thornton can bring, not that she does a damned thing. She scowls and takes a long swig of ale. And worse than menacing. Killing. They cut down the woodworker, right in the street where kids could see it. Snatched the body, snatched the family, off to gods knows where. Bastards. She flushes. I suppose the ladies where you're from don't speak like this, but I'd cut the ****ers down myself if I could.
