Once they are gone he will give Strix a hug (in part to thank him and also in hopes of it stopping his musical endeavors)
Thank you Strix
Encircled by well-wishing arms, Strix stands frozen.
......Say something, oaf!
...Nope. Stalker, not talker.
Well I end 'em, not befriend 'em chum, so unless those clerics put someone else kicking around in here for birthdays and weddings this is going to be a very awkward 2 minutes.
3 minutes 27 seconds
What? Oh, I see... with the counting... excellent callback work but the point remains. I know it's hard for you, you're at best an emergent property of an artificial renexusisation of sensory inputs designed to isolate and imprison a true conciousness, and at worst the result of pressure on my brain from a malignant growth but too bad : You broke the cage so there's no where left for me to go - if we're going to make this work you'll need to up your game. I've been living in an endless void for what feels like the last couple of hundred years, so you're on social duty, I contemplate the infinite darkness and we'll share the punching and kicking, deal? Now acknowledge this winesodden grappler.
Strix raises an arm awkwardly and pats Varinth on the back.
"Friend Vaz welcome"
Poetry! This is going to work, I can feel it in my bones that definitely do not belong to you.

The following morning, Strix makes a show of checking the bridling, buckles and straps of Elmer's horse though he's not entirely sure what he's looking for.
Now, remember - we're headed back out into the wilds, and as formidable as we can be we're exposed out there. We need backup. Someone with the might and martial power to command a skirmish - nay! A battlefield! - but with the light step of an alley cat, the cunning of a fox, someone who knows the land as well as they know their own skin. I think we both know who I'm talking about.
Strix watches as Varinth falls as much as walks to join them outside Barthen's store (I've taken the liberty of assuming he's drunk).
....Or not? You know I could just cut our throat now so this good man doesn't need to lose a perfectly serviceable horse? What even is the point of this exercise? Who are you trying to impress? The woman in the shop will think no more highly of you, your little goblin crush won't be there, there's nothing of value in those bags - what's our goal here?
Strix says nothing, just nods an appreciative nod towards Varinth and gees on the horse.
Dekhan wakes in the morning feeling reinvigorated. The pull to the tree is intriguing and Dekhan decides to see about borrowing a horse and heading out there. He’ll run it by the crew and see if anyone wants to join him.
Dekhan, you ask around town and learn that there are few horses in town, but Nalia Thornton at the Miner's Exchange has two that she might be willing to lend out. You ask her, and she's willing to lend you one or two horses; one gold piece each, and you have them for up to three days.
As you are discussing this with her, you sense someone watching you, and when you have concluded your business, you turn around and see that Nars has been watching and listening to the conversation. Nalia enters the Exchange and Nars comes over to you. Are you leaving already, Dekhan? Are you going to come back?
Strix, you and Varinth set off just after dawn with the familiar horses and cart you knew from your trip to Phandalin in the first place. The horses seem to remember Soodi and are happy now in her company. Varinth (I assume) rides in the passenger seat so that you can talk, and it's another pleasant spring day.
You reach the Triboar Trail, and retrace your steps along it to the ambush site. Having now travelled further along the trail, you see a way that the cart could be brought much closer to the goblin cave; the horses are occasionally unhappy but Soodi seems to have them under control and the cart is strong enough to move, somewhat slowly, across the grasslands and within a hundred feet of the cave mouth.
Just curious, how does a sorcerer know what component is needed for a spell (in world)? I get a wizard, everything is written down but has anyone experienced a sorcerer going up a level without a master? Do I just instinctively know or was I told at some point and memorize all the bits n bobs or something else I'm not thinking of? Not really game shattering stuff but I just like my flavour.
I would say that sorcerers instinctively know, and that a large part of a sorcerer's training is about developing and honing those instincts. Does that work?
Once they are gone he will give Strix a hug (in part to thank him and also in hopes of it stopping his musical endeavors)
Thank you Strix
(Placeholder for when I can rewrite the post that just died during formatting, after previously getting deleted because the editor decided to reload. Words cannot express how much I hate the mobilephobic interface, but if they could, most of them would be "*******" and "shit". The gist is "Strix has awkward hug and argues with himself, then goes on road trip")
OOC: Mobile set up drives me crazy because converting back and forth between desktop view and mobile view typically means a post gets reloaded and I have to retype...still...all formatting problems aside...this has been a great group and a great adventure and I'm already hoping we keep going.
Dekhan will tent the horses for himself and Scupper. Fantastic, Scup! It shouldn’t take more than a day to get there and I would certainly appreciate the company. Dek looks to Nars Just for a day or two, Nars, we’ll be back before you know it. Keep practicing the forms I’ve shown you and I’ll check your progress when we get back. Perhaps Scup will come to one of our lessons and share some of his expertise.
once they’re out of earshot of Nars Dek will say to Scup Those three lads that showed up at the celebration, they tried to kidnap Vaz, I heard a commotion and came over in time to see Strix put his new dagger in one of them and after that the fight went out of them. Vaz sent them on their way back to Neverwinter. He smiles a knowing little smile. Although, after seeing that young lady leave the party with you, I’ll wager we weren’t the only ones with an exciting evening... Is there anything you need before we set out? I don’t know what’s pulling me towards this tree, but it’s powerful, like I belong there, does that make sense?
"Aw hells. She's too good fer me which had me convinced she was ready te put a dagger in me back fer half the night. If ye saw her than I'm guessing ye saw how the other ladies reacted. Still can't rightly figure her out. She didn't mind the talk, and ye know I have a habit o' discussin' less than beautific subjects. Lass was jest generally a pleasure and you'll get nothing more outa me...'cept to add that the icy skin I've picked up didn't seem to bother her either."
Scupper at this point will turn beet red and change the subject back te trees and banshees and anything else to keep his romance out of the list of topics.
Dekhan, you lead the horses out of town while the conversation with Scupper is going on. At the outskirts, you are about to mount when you notice that Nars has followed you. He comes closer, looking a little embarrassed. Um. Is it okay... I mean, would you mind if I come with you, sir? It's just a day or two, right? I'd kind of like to get away from the town for a bit. He looks at his feet. Everyone keeps being really nice to me, because of what happened. I don't mind it, I just... it would be nice to, you know? You could teach me how to ride... He looks at the horses, and then flushes and looks down.
(Placeholder to narrate Strix's road trip - please confirm if he accept Vaz's offer to go with)
Sorry about that - couldn't handle another chrome crash. Can't remember what I wrote last night, I had been imbibing inspiration for much of the evening, so you'll have to trust me that the original version was better, and the 2nd version was weirder, this new version combines the worst of both :D Sobriety is overrated!

(I've only tried to use mobile a few times, and didn't much like it. Sorry you lost your first two attempts, but the third version is still pretty cool)
Strix and Vaz you leave the cart and walk the remaining hundred feet to the cave mouth. There's no obvious sign that anyone has passed by in the week or so since you were here.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Strix signals to Varinth to stop, and crouches down.
"Prolly safe. Shud check tho."
Staying low - stealth 17 - Strix approaches the cave mouth and if there are no signs of recent passage - Survival 13 - he signals to Varinth to follow, pausing to poke his head around the corner and look around into the wolf cave.
If all clear, he'll briefly listen at the chimney that leads to Klarg's room - perception 14 ? - before moving on towards Yeemik's last stand.
OOC: Damn it, why'd I do so many rolls! Begging for a natural 1....
Strix, you enter the cave pretty quietly and scout around; with your darkvision, that's not hard to do. There are rotted goblin corpses here and there and the smell is not pleasant, but there doesn't appear to be anyone in the wolf cave, Klarg's room is silent, and the area where you killed Yeemik and rescued Sildar seems unchanged. Aside from vermin and small scavengers, there's no sign that anyone or anything has entered the cave.
Varinth, you remain at the cave mouth, preparing, before entering and following Strix, also sneakily.
At this point Strix realises he can't remember where he saw those boxes, and if they were boxes or bags. Or why it's so important to him that he delivers them, other than to show the lady in the lion shop that it's her who's crazy. Which, in and of itself, is madness.
This is madness he confirms to himself. Lets get it over with. Where are the boxes?
Bags. Mebbe Klarg room?
Bags??? No one puts anything of value in bags, oaf! You're getting me killed for some potatoes or cake ingredie.... YOU GENIUS! That's how we draw it out! With a birthday cake!
Who?
The 3rd one! The one for weddings and social occasions! He will rue the day he impressed himself on us, mark my words!
Strix does not dignify this nonsense with a response, and instead makes his way to Klarg's room.
Vaz and Strix, you head together to Klarg's room, and there you find the scene as you left it, though stinking as only a week-dead bugbear can. By the far wall opposite the entrance are crates, boxes and sacks of various produce, few of which you opened, but all marked with the symbol you now recognise as belonging to Lionhead Coster.
It's now very late outside, and the sun will set soon.
Encircled by well-wishing arms, Strix stands frozen.

Scupper will hopefully arrive in time to accompany Dekhan on his arborial adventure.
Count me in, lad...what's not to love about...trees and other lovely green shite.
He's still mostly just having a good day and recognizing he has made good friends.
Anything exciting happen last night? I left a bit early...
Scupper might even visibly blush at this point and his cheerfulness is hard to miss
