AHHH Scupper's secret desire to be Vaz is finally revealed. Will he attempt to do more than switch names? Will Soodi understand...or care?! Find out next week on the Motley Crew's Bawdy Swap Spring Special! (Streaming available through Crackle - a streaming service so specific...you can't imagine why you'd want it)
The two look confused, and make no move to obey. One of the bandits stands, and looks you over. Hold, fool. As you run back towards the cave entrance, you hear him say to the others, Capture him. I want him alive. You hear what seems to be all the bandits standing to give chase.
The rest of the party reaches the mouth of the cave about the same time as Strix comes sprinting out. There are a few rocks around that might give a bit of cover, but the bandits are definitely not surprised and won't be ambushed as such.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Dekhan charges forward to engage the closest bandit swinging Talon in a downward arc Attack: 14 Damage: 6 He follows through with the attack and using Talon’s momentum swings again. Attack: 17 Damage: 12
Dekhan is at K7. Your first strike cuts the bandit's sword arm off, the second takes his head. It goes flying off to the side, lands, and starts rolling down the hillside.
(I'll go with the previously declared Fireball if that's okay.
Boomchar indeed. Varinth rushes up and fires directly into the tunnel, catching a total of six bandits. Four of them don't even get the chance to attempt a save, they're just burned away to ash along with their clothes and armour.
Bandit 7: 5 Bandit 8: 13
The flames roll around them and do a lot of damage; they both have burns across their flesh.
Bandit 7 growls at Dekhan and Varinth. That all you got? He runs up to Dekhan, drawing his weapons as he goes, a scimitar and a dagger. And he's a skilled fighter, you can tell from the speed of the first attack:
The scimitar misses, and misses again, distracting you - the dagger cuts in, through your side, through your armour.
Bandit 8 calls out. Meeker, get out here. And then, Kill the mage! Red hair! He moves closer, charging between Strix and Dekhan and then turning to attack the paladin from a flanking position:
Hit, clang, clang. Dekhan's armour deflects all but one slashing attack.
A third bandit emerges, scimitar and dagger drawn: Seeing the red-haired mage in the distance, he throws a dagger, draws another, and throws it too (both at disadvantage):
Attack: 13 Damage: 6 Attack: 8 Damage: 5
The dagger go wide - very wide. The bandit swears.
Body swap! Soodi was a polymorphed Jamie Lee Curtis this whole time!
Anyone who wants to can be racing towards the cave mouth; you're not close, but may get there in time depending on how things go down in the cave...

Strix points to the nearest bandits.
"You two! Come quick! Bring bucket!" And makes to run back the way he came

Varinth side steps as Strix comes running past.
Back away! Varinth says to the party as he gets into his best Uber Mage stance.
As soon as he sees someone rounding the bend in the cave he shall cast Fireball centered on the bend.
BOOMCHAR!
Damage: 28 (Half dmg on dex save)
He will then do a slow and awkward combat roll away.
Okay, so that's combat underway; everyone please roll initiative.
(What's the point in a kick ass deception/persuasion roll if it neither deceives nor persuades? :( )
Strix dives dramatically as the fireball streaks over his head. He does not look back at the conflagration behind him, because he's too cool for that.
INIT : 6
Strix, Shifter Shadow Monk in Lost Mines of Phandelver ¦ Sihegiall Human Soulknife Rogue in In Search of Molly McGuffin
(An order to capture and interrogate, not kill on sight - confusion rather than outright hostility.)
Dekhan draws Talon, the blade ringing out it's extension of it's master's desire for justice. Initiative 13
Initiative: 20
Were we supposed to capture?
No the order to capture is from the Bandit Captain to the bandits, as opposed to a "kill that clumsy tool!" order aimed at Strix
