Dekhan, you have a clear view of the room from above. You see the statue with emerald eyes; it seems to be of a dwarven god. You can make a Religion check to identify it if you wish. You see the body of Nezznar, two bugbears, and four spiders, though many of these are charred almost completely away. The table has what looks like maps, though you would have to get closer to be sure, and you see a black sack lying next to the table as well.
Scupper, you stick a tool in to try to pry the emerald out, and you push, and push some more, and the jewel... moves a fraction before sticking in place.
As the emerald moves, even very slightly, there is a rumbling from the ceiling above. Dekhan, you hear this very clearly, and from your vantage point you notice the pillars on the right side of the room trembling a little, but the noise subsides after a moment. You can see that dust from the floor and walls was stirred up by... whatever that was... and takes several seconds to settle again
That’s Dumathoin, the dwarven god of underground exploration... I’d say staying in his good graces is worth more than the price those emeralds would fetch, my friend.
Sure... I guess...while we're below ground anyway. Maybe if we move the whole statue above ground...you know...rescue 'im from this place? He's been lonely, like.
As Zhudala transforms back into her normal imp for with her wonderful opposable thumbs and begins rummaging around Nezznar's body, Incantis approaches the table. "I'd listen to Dekhan, Scup, if anyone knows what to do with an effigy of faith it's he. I wonder what Zoria would think." Incantis finishes ruminantly as he begins going through the documents on the table.

Incantis, half-elf warlock (great old one) 4/bard 1 ● Thorok Earthhand, hill dwarf mountain druid 6/grave cleric 2
Cragmyre Ironseed, earth genasi ancestral barbarian 3 ● Cyrus Natriallae, aquatic half-elf warlock of the deep 3
Zhudala begins to search the body of the slain drow. He has no money, but she does find a large key with a head shaped like an anvil, as well as the drow's staff with a large spider on the end.
Incantis, at the table you find a variety of letters and notes, some in common, some in elvish, a few in undercommon, all of which you are able to read. There are older letters from Nezznar's agents in the region, including Iarno Albrek and Vyerith. There are letters from King Grol of the Cragmaw tribe, discussing details of an arrangement between them. There are documents evidently stolen from Phandalin relating to property right in the local area. There are Nezznar's own notes on the Wave Echo Cave, descriptions of the various hazards - the flameskull and the cave of poisonous mushrooms feature a lot. You see detailed description of his conversations with the flameskull and attempts to persuade it to abandon its watch. Overall you get a sense of Nezznar himself, a curious combination of boldness and caution - a drow with towering ambition to install himself as a power in the region, and yet at the same time almost paralysing slowness and caution in how he approached his goal of the Forge of Spells. In any case, he lies dead now; whoever takes the forge, it will not be the Black Spider.
Incantis, if you wish to make an Investigation check to find more, you can. You do also notice the sack lying by the table.

Strix leans against the wall, catching his breath. He's not much of a one for reading documents. It occurs to him though that his old pal the fire Skull might want to know that he can rest a while, now the Black Spider is down. But there's no rush... He joins Varinth in searching through the effects - if there's anything that looks like it might have belonged to Rockseeker, he'll take a chance and try to Mark The Scent to help locate him.

Strix, you don't find anything that appears to belong to Gundren Rockseeker, but you do notice tracks - possibly belonging to Nezznar, leading through the closed door in the eastern corridor.

Dekhan will move over and inspect the statute of Dumathoin. Seeking to perhaps gain a bit of the God’s favor as he investigates the statue. Investigation 11
Dekhan, the statue is large, heavy, intricately carved and quite beautiful. The emerald eyes look valuable and impressive... and then, when you look closer, you see the truth - the faintest shimmer of magic around them. They are fakes, worthless, and possibly enchanted to look much more valuable than they really are.

Scupper would like to pop those emeralds out if possible. It can always be blamed on Nezznar. ("there were emeralds in that?")
Scupper, make a strength check to pry one of the emeralds loose. Are you going for the left or right eye first?

If he notices the sack and thinks it could fit a dwarf, he will immediately go to investigate it.
Varinth, in his enthusiasm, pokes himself in the eye with his pipe. Putting his hand up to his face in pain, he pokes himself in the other eye.
Dropping to his knees, he exclaims Dear Gods Weeping!
Strength check 4
We'll say left eye...but I'm not getting it.
Oi! Vaz! Give us a hand!
Feckity Feck. Be with ya in a sec. Vaz tries to compose himself and blink away the self inflicted pain of stupefying clumsiness.
He staggers toward the sound of Scuppers voice and addresses everyone else;
Anyone see the dwarf?

Dekhan sighs as he sees Scupper try to pry the god’s eyes out. Perhaps we were meant to let the effigy of this god keep its eyes, Scup... religion 14
Dekhan, the statue is of the dwarven god Dumathoin, god of mining and underground exploration, not a surprising patron deity in a place like this.
"Aye, and perhaps he's seen too much in recent days and I'm just helping 'im out."

DWARF? Varinth shouts
Anyone remember his name? DWARF!
Scupper kicks at the dirt and walks away.
"Rockseeker, ye feck. And I jest know he's getting the mine and we're getting the shaft."
