Are you hurt? You do not look well, Sister. Can we help? My name is Vaz. And these are my companions Incantis and Dario he gestures to each in turn We came to give thanks to the Goddess for our current run of luck but it seems we have a higher priority.
At the Temple:
Oh, Sister Garaele says, big fan of Tymora, are you? Well, she's not picky, so whatever you're doing here, so long as you keep it nice and non-violent, we'll be fine. And quiet, too, she adds, raising a hand to her forehead. Quiet would be nice. I'm okay, thank you for asking. I just took a little, um, journey, and got a little hurt, and then a little more hurt, and then I broke something, and then fell into something else; she rubs her arm vigorously as she says this last, and you notice that it's not just red from the rubbing, there's quite an unpleasant-looking rash there. And what a complete waste of time it all was. She stops. What did you mean about a 'higher priority'? Vaz, did you say your name was?
Now inside the temple, Dario stands back with Incantis, allowing Vaz to do the talking. While Vaz question the lady, Dariolooks about at the temple to see if he notices any clues pertaining to the Redbrands, the missing mine, and the Rockseeker brothers.
Investigation: 14
Dario, there doesn't appear to be anything in the shrine related to the Redbrands, missing mine or the Rockseekers, but it's basically a small figure, a bench, and a rock wall. You probably wouldn't expect to find anything. You do notice that Sister Garaele is very tired and a seems a bit weak, despite looking like a rather young, strong individual; this suggests that she was recently very badly injured and has perhaps used magic to heal herself.
Vaz looks her directly in her eyes. He let's his big eyes go wide. He gently takes her hand from it's constant rubbing. He has done this before but he is usually a couple of drinks in. He looks at her as though only the two of them exist and quietly responds The higher priority is you.
Dekhan, you're very vaguely aware that Halia and Strix are not completely relaxed, but there's a dangerous gang terrorising the town so, probably nothing unusual in their behaviour.
Did you mean Insight? I feel it would be Insight, and you added the +3 rather than your +1 Perception...
That is what I meant, not that the +3 helped much this time...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Incantis paces into the temple, his eyes wide and his gaze ever-wandering. So this is a place of human worship...I'd never thought to ascribe a monument to the divine but what rock and star gave us. Unsure of himself socially in this situation, Incantis contents himself to looking around at the temple's idol, hoping to gleam just what kind of church this is with the knowledge and contexts from his religious readings.
Religion: 17
He projects himself into Vaz and Dario's minds and says, "I'm going to let you two do the talking, but I'll relay anything I notice to you. Unless you're too preoccupied Vaz."
Incantis, even without the words of Sister Garaele you would recognise the small idol of the Goddess Tymora, Lady Luck, standing on a large rock in the middle of the space. You know that Tymora is favoured by gamblers, prospectors, and anyone who feels luck is important in their lives; she has a twin sister, Beshaba, Goddess of Misfortune. You don't really know much more about either of them.
Varinth doesn't want to be deceptive. He is aware that they are here for information but he is genuinely concerned for this womans welfare. The thought of her being kidnapped and beaten by brigands makes his inner fire flare. He is most sincere when he asks if they can help.
That being said he has also been on the road with six other men for days on end, so...
Cleaning a house today for some extra cash, will be offline for a few hours. If need be play Vaz as the concerned shoulder and the burning fist if he meets a Bandit.

"By the light you hold dear, man...do you tink everyone is in te business of charging after bandits and freein' te shackles of every dumb feck what can't protect they own? Lemme ask jest before we go further Dekhan, my good man...what kinda life dodja have before ye went a paladinin' around the countryside? This here woman is a businesswoman. You ain't told her nuttin' that even approaches improvin' her business."
He turns to Halia...still chucklin'
"These Redbrand...they customers at all? I'm still wondering what other mines are in te area? You seem to do enough business that te town knows yer name but they all seem the farmin' type. Listen, we're in town fer a bit and we heard there could be trouble from this Redbrand lot. If'n we come across em...how likely is that trouble if'n our knight o' te light don't outright challenge them to trial by combat?"
Well, yes, that’s what I meant. That as adventurers we could make use of our strength and cunning to help send these Redbrands either out of town or out off this plane. And that Halia here can help us do that by giving us information. And that we could also get a ...reward. He looks at Scupper and Strix. Yes, a reward for our services. And then also your business will improve, because weve taken care of the Redbrands. Then as an aside to Scupper. Before I was a Paladin, I was training... to be quietly ahem a paladin.
Scupper turning to Dekhan again, "But what if they're her customers? I mean the town don't like 'em but the town don't likely use Halia's services, neitherwise."
Then turning back to Halia, "What my morally bi-dimensional friend here is wondering, is how true the word is on Redbrands being bad...or bad for business and whether, some might'n care if they was here, versus carin' about wantin' em gone.
Since we are in townsies for a bit, it matters whether they start trouble wiv absolutely everyone, or just trouble those without much but trouble in their lives, anyway. I could see us being no trouble at'all...or very much troubled and having to trouble ourselves wiv other's trouble jest to stay out of trouble. Troubling choices indeed."
Should I need to use deception or persuasion to let her know that we're not all forces of lawful nature? Its +3 either way 18 but I'm basically trying to ease back on Dekhans claim without necessarily bothering Dekhan with the details. Im more interested in what her relationship stands with the Redbrands.
Vaz, Sister Garaele quite firmly removes her hand from yours; she doesn't seem interested, but she doesn't appear to be annoyed by your gesture either. And whatever could that mean? You didn't even know my name ten heartbeats ago. She looks the group over:
8
You folks look troubled. Is there anything a priest of Tymora can do to aid you?
To be honest, Sister Vaz sits cross legged on the ground We seem to be running in a few directions at once. We came here on a simple escort job. Get a cart to Philendar. But things have been a bit crazy since. We lost our employer to a roaming band of gobins and I think we are waiting in town for his brothers to return from a magic mine and then there was something about a spider and we found this fella that talks in me head and one of them goody two shoes knights and then Asher left coz I suppose he was feeling a bit rough about misunderstanding a situation and stabin our employers mate and finally, Varinth takes a deep breath we were told at the Inn that you were attacked by some mob of mouth-breathers that wear red or some such thing. He pauses and gets to his feet.
So as you can probably tell Miss, this all getting a bit above my pay grade and truth be told I could just use a drink. But as my Papa would say "It's nice to be nice." So... here we are.
Okay, says Sister Garaele after a moment. None of that made any sense, and it went a bit too fast for my head to deal with today. Except I heard the part about a drink. She produces a small flask from beneath her robes, takes a swig and offers it to you. Dulls the pain a little. Not, alas, the itching.
I noticed thatsays Vaz, taking a swig. What's going on there? Did something not heal right or are there monstrous mosquitoes in these parts I should know about? he hands the flask back.
It's healing okay, but it's gonna take more than one day. Stupid hag, wouldn't even appear to me. Garaele thinks back to what you said before. You think I was attacked by the Redbrands. Well, don't get me wrong, I'd be happy to see those villains run out of town right now; I don't suppose you have twenty armoured friends who could help with that? I'm joking, she says hurriedly; please don't get yourselves killed on my account. There's no way three people could take on the Redbrands.
But no, that's not what happened to me. I have an... errand to perform, and the targetof that errand refusesto even speakwith me. She grits her teeth and almost snarls the words. If your friends - do you have a name, by the way? The Intrepid Trio? The League of Vaz? Anyway, if you're looking for some work and wouldn't mind a trip out of town for a few days, I could offer some payment. What do you think?

In this case, I would say Deception. Unless it's sincere?

Persuasion: 11
Scupper, give me a Persuasion check at disadvantage. You can use the roll of 15 from above as the first roll, so make one more d20 roll please.
