Vule nods in agreement as he picks up the dagger he threw and spent arrows. While the group is checking the statues he goes over the gargoyle bodies. Investigation 8
(Macketho opened the scythe door right before the fight, that's the room at the top of the map. Sounds like Macketho is heading back to check out this room and most of the rest of the group is following, so they'd see the same thing.)
At the same time as they're searching the room, Macketho heads north again and opens the door by the scythe trap, revealing a bare, empty stone room, roughly 30' by 30'. The only thing of interest is a portcullis made of bones in the southern wall.
Looking through the portcullis, you see another room beyond with what appears to be a shrine on the eastern wall.
Kaladin manages to lift the portcullis, allowing the group into the next room. It slams shut behind him after everyone gets through and he lets go. Entering the room, the group is able to get a better look at the shrine ahead of them. In the center is a black mask, made of velvet and tinged with red. Ribbons are set up at at strategic points across the shrine, causing a variety of shadows to fall across it, shifting in the light. On the northern one, someone has scrawled, "Abandon all hope." An iron door is set in the west wall.
As Vuna enters the room, she sees an aura of magic around the altar, detecting the schools of evocation and transmutation. Vule very quietly searches the room, so intent on watching where he's going that he forgets to actually look at anything else.
Sam moves over to inspect the altar. There's a small indentation, almost like a bowl, on top of the alter, as if waiting for some offering. The mask is hung on the wall behind this, and the ribbons shift, almost as if in the wind, causing the shadows to constantly shift and move as well.
(Give me a history or religion check)
Heading directly to the next door, Macketho presses his ear up to it and listens for a moment. Somewhere on the other side he can hear several creatures moving around, and guttural voices in an unfamiliar language.
Sam recognizes the mask as the symbol of the (appropriately named) deity Mask, Lord of shadows, spies, and thieves, and gets the feeling something could happen if the appropriate offering were placed in the intentation.
We could try some gold coins? Thieves love gold. Spies and shadows love darkness and hiding, maybe a liquid needs to be put in the bowl. How big is the bowl? Like a small cup, a soup bowl or like a fruit basket large bowl?

Sam relays this info to the group.
