A song has been going through my mind for a couple days now, so I thought I would share. An extra inspiration point if you can tell me Title & Artist without an internet search (and DM respect for musical taste):
...Place is a madhouse, feels like being cloned. My beacon's been moved under moon and star. Where am I to go now that I've gone too far?
The weekend is almost here and we have had no movement. With 4 of 6 party members MIA, it is hardly fair to Andolin and Horus. If you are still interested but RL has tanked you, please at least let us know. I believe I speak for Andolin and Horus that to ask them to act in everyone's stead is a bit unfair.
I ask you to answer back with any of the following
1. You support plan attack or capture or do nothing
2. You are no longer interested
3. You are interested but need a longer break and we can continue with you as NPC.
Having been quiet for some time as she simply observed the goings on, Seraphina spoke up. "Perhaps following it would be the best choice. We don't know if they're the only ones or if there are more. It's less of a risk to observe them for a while, especially since they likely know this area far better than we do"

Venatrix Tenebris- The Invasion (Tiefling Ranger)
Seraphina Braekanfel- Adventures in the Hinterlands(Halfling Cleric)
The whole group doesnt have to follow them right? Because theoretically it'd be easier for them to be discovered that way. So if it's still dark out someone with Darkvision could follow them and maybe take someone else with them. Or if it's light Seraphina could follow since she's small enough to hide pretty easily and according to her racial traits she's naturally sorta stealthy. Those who don't go could stay behind for whatever reason, or everyone could go.
Sorry if Im overanalysing things. I've got my DM thinking-head on after working on stuff for my own campaign XD

I would say we all follow, but let Wren and Andolin (and any other stealthy/non-clinky folks) scout ahead, while the rest hang back farther a bit from us.

I’m sorta stealthy, I think I’ll go with the sneaky folks
In a short time, the Kobolds have collected their cache and they begin to head south. Given the commotion from the livestock, and the crushed grass it is easy to follow the trail. In time, the livestock exhausts its energy and falls silent, but the trail is still easy to follow. The Kobolds trail winds generally southward, avoiding any of the obviously occupied homesteads. After 2 slow hours, the remains of a tumbled tower can be see in the distance. The trail heads directly for the ruins.

If we are still playing, we can follow Seraphina’s suggestion, and follow them.
would I know if Hunter’s Mark is detectives? If its not, Andolin will cast it on one he identifies as the leader.
OCC I'm hoping people are still interested.
Hunter's Mark would allow you advantage on tracking (survival) checks for the 1 hour duration.

Wow, just re-read my post. Sorry it’s so unclear. I was asking if the creatures would know (could detect) if it got cast on them.
“Let’s follow, then.”
Paladin - warforged - orange
My ruling on that would be 'no', unless a Detect Magic was cast.
How long of a head start do you want to give them? Keep them insight?

From a DMs perspective all those are possible. But a couple of things to consider.

So... you’re saying there’s a pretty good chance we can follow them without being discovered lol
Paladin - warforged - orange
I don't know about discovered... but pretty easy trail...
