The goliath nods and brings the boat where they can disembark and approach the sout post among the trees.

You bring the boat to the Southern treeline and pull it up one the shore.  The Southern approach is a marsh, so it will be slow going but the reeds will give you cover.

As you are preparing you hear the sound of creaking wood and turn to look. The South gate opens and two humans hurry out. It closes behind them. The Trollkin on top of the gate shouts something at them, but doesn’t seem alarmed; it seems they have permission to go out.

The two of them hurry through the knee deep water of the ford and make their way toward the treeline, a little ways away from you. As they get closer you can see two men, one in his late teens and one that is likely in his sixties. They are carrying small axes. They look very anxious and tired.

"Call them over, can you?" ask the goliath to his spell casters companions. " They could give us an idea of what's going on."

"Hey, you! Come over here!" Missy simply shouts towards the men as they get closer.

"no! shhs.. wait...  but do it without the wanna be troll hear us..." says the big barbarian trying to use a hushed tone but not really achieving it.

Salem face palms at the noise both Kraerd and Missy was making, Maybe stealth wasnt such a good idea. "Missy we are trying to remain unnoticed before our entry." Salem whispers as she watches the two humans run pass. 

Salem is going to cast Prestidigitation and create the sound of a fish, leaping out of the water 10 feet away from the boat. 

"Oops! Sorry..." Missy says in a hushed voice as she turns red from embarrassment.

Perception: 19

The trollkin hears Missy's shout, but turns his head towards where Salem made the sound of a fish splashing. After looking back and forth he will call down to someone inside the wall.

As the two villagers approach you can see them better. There is a young man with sandy hair, and an older man with a grey beard who is missing an eye. The young man looks back toward the gate in a bit of a panic, but the older man elbows him. The older man makes eye contact with those of you he can see, and then jerks his chin over to a patch of brush nearby. The two villagers then heads in that direction.

Kraerd nods and heads in that direction too.

Egil moves closer too, keeping his eyes open as he goes. 

Miz is too busy cleaning himself to follow the men. He’ll wait in the back of the group.

     Daisy approaches the two villagers and then covers everyone with a shadow. She hands the man her waterskin. "We are here to help. How many have you seen inside?"

The older man will take a swig from your flask and then hand it to the younger man. "We could certainly use help if you're offering."  Glancing back at the gate he will start gathering bits of wood while he talks. "Lots of the kobolds; more then two dozen. Not many of the taller green skinned folk, there's five of them maybe."

"Aye, not to mention that monster that leads them!" the younger man adds, handing the waterskin back. He speaks quietly but with great anxiety. "A giant he is! More than ten feet tall and dressed in armor. Carries a spear longer than I am tall!"

The goliath closes his eyes at the mention of the giant. He grabs his axe tighter.

"Why are they staying at the town? What do they want? How many of you are alive?" he speaks softly but quick " Would you be in danger if we enter and start killing them? Would you stand up and fight?" 

The old man will frown, a look of shame washing over his face momentarily.

"Chief Thorfinn and all the folk with any skill at arms fought and were slain. All that's left are the children, the old, and a few craftsman. They keep us locked up in the barn under guard when there's no outside chores for us to do. The shaman is the one that ordered we be taken prisoner instead of killed. I think the others are scared enough of her not to kill us without her say so." 

He rubs a nasty looking bruise on his arm.

"Not sure what it is they want, but it doesn't look like they plan on leaving anytime soon. They got most of the folk in the barn weaving the wool from all the sheep they've eaten. Could be they plan to rob all the trade caravans that use this road come summertime."

Salem is keeping an eye on the gate and the Trollkin who had called down below it. She will alert everyone if she sees the gate open while trying her best to remain unseen.

Stealth: 6

+10 to stealth from the Pass without Trace from daisy so grand total of 34. I am rolling really well with Salem.

"Ok old man. No shame on you our your kin. We will help in any way we can." Kraerd turns to the others.

"So... Kill that one " he says pointing with his thumb to the gate " enter, kill the guards on the barn. Kill the shaman. Kill the giant. Kill the rest if they hadn't fell by that time. Ok?" asks the goliath to his companions. 

    "Yeah, don't to too hard on yourself. You've kept yourself alive and that's what counts," Daisy offers to assuage the older man's guilt. "So.. uh, what's your name, but do they drop the drawbridge for anything?"

Salem you watch the gate, melting into the shadows and becoming practically invisible as you do so. The gate does not open, but you do see a second trollkin raider walk out onto the dock. He shouts and gestures at something in the water. You see the water ripple as something large under the surface swims over to where you made the fish illusion.

Villager Group: "You can call me Havardir. This is Rangvauld," he says, gesturing to the younger man. "They do lower that drawbridge when a scouting patrol goes out. Takes them a long time to do it. It's heavy and I think they killed and ate the oxen that usually pull the mechanism."

Salem tenses up at the sight, keeping a very close eye on what she see's moving beneath the surface of the water. After another 5 or so minutes, Salem will slink back to the group and relay to them what she had witnessed.
