Ria eventually frowns and sits against her tree. As soon as Katznii has the now-dry wood stacked, she makes an impatient motion with her hand, and it bursts into flames. As the others go about setting up camp, her eyes follow Jason curiously, wondering about the young man.
Jason is sitting on a fallen tree, staring out into the raining forest, lost in his own thoughts. Again, he can feel the rain resonate with him, but this time, it carries with it a more mellow sentiment, and Jason finds himself thinking of home.
When he heard the call for 'spell-weavers' he perked up, but ultimately returned to his own thoughts. After a few minutes in thought, Jason sighs and goes to hollow out the roots of the tree he was sitting on, to form a simple, decent shelter for the night. Upon its completion, he'll call out to everyone, "If you need me, I'll be here."
Once the fire is going, Kath turns to the group and says, "So we have a fire going. I don't know about you guys but I could use some food. Let's sit around the campfire together and eat something." She seems way too excited about that given the current situation.
After Jason talks, Kath responds, "Aren't you going to eat anything?"
Jason looks back at the elf, a thinks for a second. After a passing thought, he smiles and shrugs, "Have some food in my bag, if anyone wants some." Maybe it'd do him some good to not dwell on the things he couldn't change right now.
He walks over to the fire and sits down, taking some rations out of his bag. He holds them out to everyone, the half elf man included, "Any takers?"
Kath moves closer to the fire and takes one of the rations that Jason offered. She with a slight nod she thanks Jason for sharing his rations. She seems to enjoy the rain and she enjoys the campfire even more. For the first time in the day, Kathleen smiles albeit weakly.
She urges the other members including the captured half-elf to sit with them and waits for anyone else who wants to sit around the campfire to eat to do so. Once everyone who wants to join them arrive, she tears into the food like it insulted her ancestors. For some one with facial features of nobility, she eats like a savage; without any grace or elegance whatsoever.
After a moment, Ria moves closer to the fire as well, taking some rations out of her own pack. She slips off her wet cloak, and digs through her bag for something, eventually coming out with a silver armlet in the shape of a dragon. With a triumphant smile, she slips it onto her left arm near the shoulder. "Missed you," she mutters before turning her attention to the group, starting on her own food in quick, neat bites that indicate some sort of etiquette training.
"Wow.." Asphodel, for the moment, leaves the half elf alone to join the others. When he sits, he pulls out rations of his own and begins picking at them. "I think that's the first time I've seen you smile." He comments to Ria. When he's situated, his eyes wonder around the fire to the others until they land on Kathleen. He bites down a grin and continues to watch her eat.
Ria shrugs, swallowing her bite. "I didn't exactly have a reason to smile before." She folds her arms slightly self-consciously, rubbing the armlet. Her eyes flick to the half-elf, watching him carefully to make sure he doesn't try to make a run for it.
"What's not to smile about in a forest of creatures that want to kill us?" He says sarcastically. He pulls his amused eyes from Kathleen and glances at Ria's armlet. "Does it have any meaning? Aside from looking neat." He asks, genuinely curious.
Katznii takes a seat with a stiff, nearly regimented posture and unwraps a ration as well. With a cursory inspection, he picks off the mold spots beginning to take root and tosses them to the fire; the humidity of this jungle was really playing hell with his usual travel fare meant for much dryer elevations. Satisfied, he makes a slight gesture and whispers a quick prayer to Kree Sol-Derra before partaking. Looking around the campfire, the aasimar takes stock of his fellows and their situation. Such an eclectic mix of strangers to have amalgamated in so short a time.
"So..." he says, with a calm sense of gravity, "...what, if anything, is the plan for when morning rolls around?"
Ria shrugs at Asphodel. "My mom gave it to me. Symbol of her family or whatever." She shifts slightly. "I didn't really pay attention to the speech at the time." Glancing at Katznii, she adds, "And I assumed we'd keep moving."
Kath stops to swallow her food, narrowly avoiding choking, and looks up at Katznii with food crumbs decorating the lower part of her face. She says, "I guess we continue moving toward that place we were going to."
He nods to Ria, squinting slightly as he carefully watches her expression and posture. He leans back on his hands, his food barely touched. He stares up into the beauty of the trees, admiring them. "Day one of travel. It'll be another day before we get there, right? Or at least a half a day."
"Well I was mostly thinking we'd try to stop the before they kill the minotaur," Ria suggests flatly. "It's a little difficult to formulate a solid plan when we don't know much about the situation when we get there."
The half elf gratefully and hesitantly takes a ration from Jason, looking the man in the eyes for only second before he nods. Eventually the man finds his composure after the whole day, his situation, and the whole notion that he had mutinied to stay alive. He didn’t want to think what that could do if it came back to him. They had all been surprisingly well to him, despite the his occupation and what circumstances he’d helped Captain Fang bring about.
As the motley team tried to figure things out, the half elf spoke up.
”Name is Borossa, by the way.” He clears his throat, hoping this would help. “I don’t mean to be a pessimist, you are all. . . Incredibly talented for murder as far as I can tell. Fang though, he uh, well he has been making a living doing so for a long while. —I didn’t know that when I accepted the job. Anyway, he and his first mate Oros are a deadly team. Oros is the muscle and knows enough to run a whole crew easy. He isn’t a magic fella, but...I’ve seen what he does to people who stand in his way. He’s got a fine broadsword I’ve done my best to avoid.” Barossa took another big bite of the stale bread, still tasting quite well all things considered.
”Fang though. . . He’s far more deadly than his appearance gives. He keeps himself all covered up, his face masked by a bandana for the most part, but there’s something about the way he moves, and his eyes. . . They don’t look natural. He pays well, but he’s always been cruelly trying to find new artifacts, new treasures left behind by the last Age.”
”Look, these guys are trained killers and Fang’s ambition might be the deadliest. Are you sure you can take him? Yeah this thing they are chasing after sounds unreal and amazing, but. . . Death isn’t my favorite thing to play with.”

Ria scowls, looking a little uncomfortable with the word "murder", but responding to Borossa's explanation with nothing more than a touch of annoyance. "I don't know what they're after, and quite frankly, it's not really top of mind for me right now. And while...killing Fang and the others feels rather appealing to me right now, I'm a little more focused on getting their other prisoner free."
"Someone's going to have to take them down. It might as well be us." He says nonchalantly. "If you're concerned about it - we'll live, you can bet on it. We'll have an extra Minator body to spare." His confidence is evident.
“You really care about that bull?” The half elf chimed in. “The creatures like that aren’t known for kindness. Trackers and hellishly clever when it comes to stalkin prey, but not as friends. Fang just thought it’d be good to have a tracker and labyrinth runner. After all, a temple to the calculating hands of Death can’t be cheery or easy. Santhos doesn’t take me as a kind god for stepping where you shouldn’t.”

Ria glares the half elf. "Thank you," she says icily, "so much for your opinion. Which I value a great deal after you already displayed stellar judgement in both your choice of profession and employer.
