Ooc: saada how are we looking here? Was your check positive or are you just getting the stuff ready? I’m hoping with that good of an athletics check I can scramble up and maybe help with the rope once you throw it.

OOC: Waiting on the results of check, otherwise I just going to mage hand the rope onto an anchor point then climb. My was plan to recover the father and either lower him to the second floor with the kids and try to evac from there or lower him from the outside and go back in for the kids. It all depends on the condition of the father and the stability of the house. As for the kids, my plan was to get in from the top, check to see if they were okay, or at the very least run on their own. Then blast the debris clear from the door with Thunderwave. But i don't know how that would destabilize the house, so i need the father out it.

Ooc: sweet sounds good. I was wanting to get the father first since he’s stuck. Vail has a high Str score so as long as the entire house isn’t a massive blaze I should be able to lift and move some things and hopefully climb up there without needing a rope

OOC: Saada's strength is terrible, so she's climbing up with the rope and climbing gear. And I want to know where the kids are before i blast the debris. I doubt tiefling children could handle 2d8 thunder damage.

Saada: You can find and anchor point that appears stable.

Vail: You can easily scramble up the debris.

So using different methods you both make your way up and can find a way in through the collapsed roof. There is fortunately no fire burning here making your way under the old roofs peek you find the father pinned to the floor at the top of a stairwell. The children are hunkered down in the stairwell which has stayed clear. Most of the rest of the house is filled with debris of one kind or another. Either from the broken and collapsed roof and walls or from the shelves and cases that were full of goods and have now collapsed.

OOC: Would my thunderwave plan still work?

Saada kneels  next to the pinned tiefling. "Are you hurt?"

The father is unconscious but still breathing.

(Judging by the state of things thunderwave may bring the whole place down on you. You can find a way for everyone to get out the way you came in through the roof though.)

If someone wants to try and lift the debris it's a DC20 STR check.

"This place looks like it's about to fall apart. We're going to have to go out the way we came." Saada said to Vail, nodding towards the hole in the roof. "Help me lift this."

OOC: How many kids are there?

Vail moves over to the debris and and takes a strong stance with his hands underneath to see if he can’t lift it.

strength: 18

the debris doesn’t move.

”Well this piece won’t budge.”

ooc: wasn’t there a rule in an older edition where I could get assistance from someone else on a strength check?

OOC: There is. I believe it provides advantage to the check.

Saada glances over to the children. "We should probably get them out first."

Saada heads towards the bottom of the stair, crouches down in front of the children. "Are you guys okay?" she asks in a motherly tone.

Yes you can get "help" and it provides advantage. Vail. You can give me an investigation or perception check though too if you fail. 

Saada. The kids are obviously terrified but they seem mostly unharmed besides some scrapes. "We've got to help Daddy! Please! He's all we have!"

Estes will come help once he has the others going. 

"I know sweetie, and we will. But we need to get you guys out of here. How good are you guys at climbing?" Saada asks.

OOC: How old are the kids?

They look to be 9 and 12 ish. The older being a boy, the younger a girl. The boy says "I'm a great climber!" The girl just shakes her head.

Ooc - Vail, holy water is a 1 hour ritual to make a vial, I don't think my level 2 cleric powers can cleanse this lake 

Running behind Vail, Tordal eyes the building and decides that he's better suited to helping on the ground. Looking back and forth he spots Estes forming a bucket brigade and runs after to give a hand.

"Well then, you get to show me what you can do." Saada smile at the boy. then she turned towards the girl. "How do you about piggyback rides?"

Vail on trying to budge the debris and ending in failure climbs outside the hole to assist in “hand off” with the kids to help them out of the hole.

”agreed we can try something else on the rubble later.”

ooc: I’ll give an investigation check later, I got 18 on my str check earlier dunno if you saw it DM.
