Halizthan leads him outside and off to the side of the street where they will have some room. "Alright boy show me your skills by performing a few basic thrusts and stabs."
Halizthan shoots a glare as he walls with the boy. "Very well then Kleesal show me a few basic maneuvers you know. From you excitement I would imagine you have been attempting to replicate what you have seen in the arena. If you show skill with this then you may learn more. If not then it would be wise to test you with something that has a longer range."
"I also gave your wife a dagger that I engraved with my name on it... Sorry! If you would like I can engrave my name in something of yours! I also have a few more daggers... but I might need to buy a few more if I am going to keep giving them away..." the kobold would say to lukak with a smile before taking a seat at one of the tables. Rend would have been soaking up the attention of the townsfolk when Falicity began ranting in draconic. The kobold would then get up and move over to Falicity and the boy. A small smile would spread across the kobolds face as the boy tried to convince us to bring him along on our quest. "Never judge what a creatures worth by its size" the kobold would say giving the boy a hard slap on the shoulder. "Herbert is going to need a lot of attention and maintanance, especially because I am worried his pie may have upset his sensative stomach" Rend would mention waving his hand in front of his scrunched up nose before continuing. "I must admit... at first I thought you were mearly a messanger and I was hoping you would be able to deliver a message for me..." The brass scaled kobold would sign before making his way back to one of the tables and pulling out his paper and ink and wood carving kit... getting to work on making his custom "R" wax seal. Once that was complete he would begin writing a letter to Tessa.
To Rend, Sal says "Oh, me and Herbert are already friends. I took a liking to the big doggy right away! Some of the other stable hands thought it was beneath them to look after a doggy so I mostly took care of him since we got him! He didn't like a lot of the stable hands too and would growl at them, but he's just a big goof. If you scratch him just right behind the ear he falls over and starts wiggling around!"
Halizthan, you see that Sal has been imitating moves he's seen in the arena and isn't completely skill-less. It does look more like someone pretending to do karate but who doesn't really know karate, if you know what I mean.
Rend, Lekak politely declines your offer of a dagger saying "Tis alright Master Rend, I'll let the wife have this one. I got to see the shifter change and put that argument to rest! That's enough for me"
Once back at the table, one of your admirers notices you carving and asks if could help. "I've carved a bunch of wooden animals for my little ones to play with. I'd be honored if you'd let me carve that for you?"
As the man offers to help him with his seal, Rend quickly passes the equipment over to him, not having any real skill as a wood carver. He would ask the man to make a diamond shape and then inside the diamond either to make a big letter "R" or if possible to fit the whole word "Rend" in draconic, he would ask that that be done in the seal. As the man finished the job, if it looked pretty good the kobold would hand the man 10 gold.
The kobold would then begin writing the only letter he has ever written in his life.
Dear Zephatessataseria,
I have not stopped thinking about you since our meeting. It was a dream come true to finally talk to you and I look forward to seeing you again. I caught myself looking up at the sun today... which hurt... A LOT... but I understand now why so many creatures find beauty in the sunrise and sunset... it is because that golden orb in the sky is much like your beautiful eyes.. eyes that I cannot wait to look into once more. The only thing I hope to get in return for bringing you the item you seek, is a big kiss to see your gorgeous smile once more. I prey that your blessing will protect me while I fulfill this important quest in your name, and enable me to perform your will.
Forever your most loyal servant, warrior, and husband, and friend, -Rend
The letter would be full of misspellings and lines crossed out before tucking it into an envelope and sealing it shut.
J'Anna watching in amusement as the stable boy swings wildly with his sword decides to show off a little...she draws her long sword and whispers "Flambe" then sword then springs to life, full of reddish/orange flames. She then speaks a couple words in draconic and casts Minor Illusion and a wooden goblin target appears. "Now follow me Sal," and with that she dances magically around the target weaving sword in and out just as she would making attack after attack on her foe. When finished she again whispers "Flambe" and the flames die out and the sword is once again sheathed. "Practice those thrusts and parries over and over until it is second nature to you Sal."
You can see that Sal is fairly bursting out of his skin in excitement but he does mimic your moves well and practices the same moves over and over with a determined look on his face.
By this time the bar has started to empty out with many thanks and back-slaps and some of the patrons have retired upstairs, while a couple have passed out in their seats.
Lekak, gets J'anna's attention saying that he'd be honored if the party would stay with his family for the night. He explains that there's only one small room left in the inn but there is plenty of room above the bakery for you all. He says it's not very fancy but the ovens below keep it warm.
"I will let the party know of your generosity Lekak." J"Anna replies to him. "I am sure that will be fine, we will only be here for 1 night and moving on as early as possible tomorrow anyhow."
(So how good was the engraving job on my super awesome seal? Does Rend need to give the guy the 10 gold lol)
Rend would excitedly jump up and down at the offer. "I definitally want to stay at your place! You and your family are great!" The kobold would quickly exclaim before turning towards the groups new squire. "We need to get you a nice large shield!" the kobold would say, pulling his shield off of his back and placing it on his arm before allowing the bottom edge of the shield to slam hard into the floor with a heavy thud. "This shield has saved me more times than I can remember.. and it hurts to get hit with it too!" Rend would say peaking his head around the heavy steel shield that is nearly as tall and wide as him. The shield has heavy riveted steal along the edges of the frame and a band of steel running from the top to the bottom and from each side forming a large + in the middle where there is a round steel sphere. In between and under the bands of steel is thick black wood with a few dings and cuts... some of them nearly an inch deep but never managing to pierce through.
ooc: You do not need to pay him, he's happy to be able to say he did some carving for you and it came out very good. He wasn't lying in saying he was skilled.
Around this time the package for Felicity from the shopkeeper arrives. It contains 2 serviceable daggers, a shortbow, a small shield and worn but functional child sized leather armor.
'Thank you very much for the fine work" Rend woud have said with a smile, happy to have given him some gold for his work and for his family.
After inspecting the weapons and armor the boy was given, the kobold would shrug. "Better than nothing I guess... but I wouldn't go running into any fights just yet" Rend would say before putting his shield on his back and turning to Lukak. "if I give you this letter, can you make sure it gets back to Tessa over at the Colosseum?" the kobold would say with a nervous look on his face.
"Thank you friend" The kobold will say with a large smile, pulling out 5 gold and placing it on the counter. "I am going to go searching for an easy way to make fire... I have a tinderbox but I was hoping for something a little better for quickly melting wax for my letters." the kobold would say with a smile. "Do you know if they would have anything like that at the general store or is there any kind of magic shop in town?" Rend would ask while rubbing his chin.
"I'm sorry Master Rend there is no magic shop here being so close to the city and all. I wonder if my wife has anything that could help. I know she sometimes uses these special rock things she got from the city for her ovens. We shall ask her tonight if they may be useful for your purposes"
After very studiously practicing his moves for some time and getting pretty sweaty doing so Sal asks "Can I sleep with the doggy? I'm happy to stay in the stables and he might be scared being in a new place and all?
Meanwhile the patrons are clearing a path for the drow leading the boy

"That'll do. Thank you kind sir."
Felicity goes back outside to see Halizthan with the boy.
Halizthan leads him outside and off to the side of the street where they will have some room. "Alright boy show me your skills by performing a few basic thrusts and stabs."
“Don’t hurt him stable boy,” J’Anna says, ”I am certain we will need his skill down the road.”
The boy waves and bouncing excitedly along after Halizthan. He says "My real name is Kleesal but everyone calls me Sal"
